Chapter 2

Fairy Flitters

 

Elijah immediately jumped up to feet, knocking all his books down to the ground. “W-w-who are you? Where are you? What--” he was interrupted by the same small voice.

“You know it is incredibly rude to ask a question and not wait for the answer. You know what Nikki; maybe we should just find another pair of twins.

“You're right,” another voice chimed in, “one that looks like my Alexander.” Then she let out a long sigh.

“Ooh! How sweet! Oh, I have a great idea; we should get a pair of twins that look like the two of you. Then it would be like a romance movie of you two!” Elijah just stood, part confused, part entertained, and part scared.

“Oh…my…gosh! Look at that mess over there!” Suddenly a small glow of blue dashed out towards the books and papers sprawled on the ground. It flittered around them until they were stacked up nice and neat. “There, all better.”

“You are such a neat freak!” A white glow fluttered out near the blue one. Elijah was really getting irritated.

“Ehem! I would like to know a few things. LIKE WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!”

“Jeez…what a grump.” The white glow flittered to him and dimmed her glow to show a beautiful young girl. She had snow white hair that came down to her tiny little shoulders, with light tan skin. Her eyes were a piercing sky blue, almost silver. She also had butterfly-like wings, ice blue with a dark blue edge. They had a white dot on the top and bottom of each wing. “So, there's no such things as fairies huh? Well then Mr.Logic, what am I?” She did a little loop-de-loop in the air.

“Your face is almost like the way my little Alexander looks when I pick up the house too much.” The blue glow floated up next to the white hair girl and dimmed her glow as well. She also had the butterfly wings, only they were blue edged with white and dark blue dots..

“You can't be fairies. Fairies aren't real.” Elijah could not, scratch that, would not accept it. Within him, his walls of logic and reasoning came crashing down on him. Was this real or was his imagination acting up?

“Well call us what you want, but we need you.” The white hair girl flittered up onto his shoulder. “Weather you want to believe in us or not, we are here for you."

“Like Alexander is there for me.” The other chimed then she let out a long soft sigh and drifted in what looked like a daydream.

“I am called Lee-Ann, an ice fairy. That lover girl over there is Nikki, a water fairy.” She leaned in to whisper in his ear, “she absolutely LOVES her newlywed husband, Alexander.” Her whispers sent chills down his spine.

“Okay. Now that I know who you two are, and apparently what you are, tell me one more thing.” Elijah, though he didn't show it, was getting nervous around such small girls.

“Tell who what?” Elijah turned to see his sister in the door way to the house.

“This is just great,” he thought, “the last thing I want is for her to know that I am talking to fairies.” He turned to look at the two girls, but Lee-Ann was gone.

“Are you going to tell me what you're talking about?” A white glow was darting around her head, just above view. Lee-Ann took a sick and propped it up in Elena's ponytail, so she gave her moose antlers.

“Ha, ha, ha, ha!” Elijah belted out into laughter. Lee-Ann dimmed her glow and he saw her rolling in the air, laughing.

“A FAIRY!! I KNEW THEY WERE REAL!!” Elena had looked up at the sound of the soft laughs. Elijah instantly ran to her and grabbed her mouth.

“Shhh! Do you have to be so loud? Come sit on the bench and I'll explain. Come on girls.”

“THERE ARE TWO?”

After a lot of talking, and a lot of covering Elena's mouth, Elijah told the whole story. The entire time, Lee-Ann seemed preoccupied.

“So I guess it is time that I told you why we're here. Unfortunately, it may be too late to wake her.” Lee-Ann looked up.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake.
