Fan Fiction ❯ Inconclusive ❯ Striking from the Shadows ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
“Titans, go!” Robin yelled, as he had so many time before. A shadowy cloaked figure glanced up at them, only the icy blue eyes were seen from the darkness of the hood. A gloved hand came from beneath the cloak and telekinetically a large mailbox was sent flying through the air towards Robin. He jumped out of the way as it crashed into the brick wall behind him.
Raven muttered, “Azarath, metrion, zinthos!” and she sent the mailbox hurling back towards where it came from. The cloaked figure blocked it by pulling up the asphalt in the form of a shield with the wave of a hand.
Beast Boy changed his form to that of a rhinoceros and charged at the weak shield, which crumbled into gravel. Starfire flew over as Beast Boy morphed back to his human form.
“Where did they go?” questioned Beast Boy, blankly looking around the empty, torn apart street.
His reply was “Beast Boy, look out!” coming from Robin as a jagged shard of glass vaulted towards his head. He ducked and it shattered behind him on the road.
Everything was silent.
“We know you‘re out there,” Robin called out. There was still no sound, and no visible sign of anyone but themselves.
Cyborg turned on the small light attached to his left shoulder and Starfire let a green glow come from her hands. They knew whoever had been attacking the city and it’s inhabitants was still here, but they no longer knew where they were.
Cyborg thought there was movement in the direction the glass had come from and took a step towards it. Everyone else was keeping their eyes open for any sign of movement.

None of them could have seen what happened next.
A rope slithered across the ground as stealthily as a snake. Suddenly Starfire screamed and everyone looked her way.
The rope had suddenly sprung into the air and faster than Starfire could respond, had knotted itself around her wrists and pulled her down into the ground. The force caused her to hit her head, delaying her reaction to escape from the rope’s grasp. As everyone spun around to look at Starfire, a cloaked figure attacked from behind.
A car abandoned on the side of the road was sent flying towards Beast Boy and Robin, who were near each other. They leapt out of the way, but only Beast Boy prepared to fight back. Robin ran over to Starfire and helped her up so she could defend herself. She sent green light that evaporated the rope from her hands and yelled, “Show yourself you coward!”
Once more there was silence and Cyborg became agitated. “Why can‘t they fight for one solid piece of time so we can defeat them already? These little breaks are getting-” but he was stopped mid-sentence by a brick hitting him square in the back of the head.
Everyone spun around to see if the unknown person was there and low and behold, he was. The cloaked person was standing on top of a brick building , not ten feet from them. The moonlight once more reflected off the icy, cold blue eyes and for a second, that was all anyone could see. The figure took both hands from beneath the cloak, and that was when everyone snapped from the mini trance and started preparing for an attack.
Cyborg shot a blue blast from his sonic cannon towards the person, but it was too late. They had taken bricks from the roof and fashioned it into disk to stand on so they could fly, and they were already into the sky. The last thing he did before leaving the roof was collapse the building. Cyborg and Robin dove out of the way, and while Robin wasn’t thinking about it, some items were removed from his belt by the telekinetic. Beast Boy turned himself into a hawk and started flying upwards for an attack. A brick from the crushed building was sent at him from behind, so he could not have seen it hit him. He started falling back towards the ground, but thankfully Raven used her power to form a shield and stop him from hitting the ground. Since she had to focus on this, she didn‘t have enough time to attack. Besides, Starfire was dealing with it now. She shot some star bolts, but they were dodged. The attacker took one of the weapons he removed from Robin’s belt and threw it towards Starfire. It was a small ball that when thrown would turn into a slime that would prevent the victim from moving. Starfire also plummeted towards the ground, saved by Raven halting her fall in a similar way to how she dealt with Beast Boy, and Robin helped her get the slime off.By the time Raven was finally ready to attack and the others were prepared again, the mysterious stranger was long gone…Converting /tmp/phpARiXs9 to /dev/stdout
