Intuition

I should have left earlier for work that morning, the transport was a disaster and the people weren't brilliant company. And no one ever sees accidents coming. Well...

The train journey had gone on for too long. I expected there to be delays, there always are with the underground system but we had been in the tunnel for half and hour. The train lights kept flickering and it was so dark outside. I glanced at my watch so many times I was even annoying myself. I was late, I was going to get shouted at by my boss and it was so hot in the train. No one wanted to say anything because they all felt uncomfortable but I made conversation with the old lady sat next to me. She was always on the train when I was on the train. We spoke about the usual things you talk about with a stranger, the position you are in, the weather, the trains, the usuals. After a hour the train finally started moving, everyone in the carriage I was in cheered and I smiled and wiped my forehead of all the sweat that had gathered in the ten second gap since the last time I wiped it.

I stepped out of the station and in to the London air. I took in a breath and then walked to the bus station, my next mode of transport. Number seventy three. I waved for the bus to stop as I notice the driver was looking slightly dazzled by the sun that was shining in his eyes. He pulled in and I showed his my bus pass and then I sat down. The London streets were exceptionally busy this morning but I took my seat at the window and prepared for the journey to work. The bus drove all the way Baker Street and then Joined on the Oxford Street, all the best shops are there. We then drove past Hyde Park. I looked out and saw families walking there dogs or families just walking round the park. I then saw a small child dressed in white. I looked at her and she looked at me. We drove past a tree and she went out of my vision for a short while. I blinked and she was gone. I guessed that maybe because it was early I was imagining things, I hadn't had a cup of coffee yet. I rubbed my eyes and looked forward. Something caught the corner of my eye so I turned left and the small girl was sitting next to me. She smiled and then giggled and waved at me. I smiled back at her and then looked forward.

"I'm here to collect you." She said. I looked at her again and raised my eyebrow.

"I have to get to work." I said and I turned and looked out side again. There was no way this was possible but she was in the park again. She raised an arm and pointed to me. I blinked and she was still there. She then moved her hand and indicated that I should get off the bus. I thought the situation over. I looked to the small girl, dressed in white, with light blonde hair. I sighed and pulled on the string on the bus. A bell made a 'ping' noise and the bus soon drove to a halt. I walked off the bus and looked to Hyde Park. The girl smiled and then turned away. I blinked a few times and she was gone.

I decided I'd walk the rest of the way to work, it wasn't that far now, just down Knightsbridge and I was there. I checked I had my bags with me and I started walking. The bus I was on was still in viewing distance. I looked down and watched my feet take each step forward. I then froze as I heard the most terrifying explosion and I looked up. There was smoke rising high in to the London sky. I picked up my pace to see what was going on. I got nearer and nearer and I could see flames. People were running against me with looks of fear on their faces. I tried to see where the flames were coming from. A car? Yes, and a bus. BUS! I shook my head in disbelief. I couldn't stop but I started shaking. That was...my bus, I got off it. I couldn't believe how lucky I was. I don't know who told me to get off and I don't know why but whoever it was saved me. I don't even think that person was real. Just a small ghost, a figment of my imagination.
