Fan Fiction ❯ Issues Upon Issues ❯ Doesn't It Always Begin In Blood ( Chapter 1 )
We don't use other peoples characters although we do like to collect ideas and throw them together to create new things so you may see things that seem familiar. Kitiana is my character, I'm Lida, and Lin is the character of Amanda. We use them for many of our story's and they kinda are our personal and favorite characters. We got bored in school and decided to write a story using them. We each write part and then pass it on so we have no more idea then you what will happen, can't wait to see what will happen personally. I will be putting up all the past ones for a while so everything will be typed by me for a while but I will say who wrote what abig K means I Lida/Kitty and a L means Amanda/Lin wrote it. Don't be surprised if we switch point of view a lot. I will have lots of stupid prattle but that is because it was supposed to be seperate chapters but they are so short I just couldn't do it to you. Kitiana and Lin are very dear to us and while this will probably not happen if you want to use them ask, we don't bite, but we would like to know. Well enough of my boring prattle off we go! This was written by Amanda. Enjoy and feel free to review.

Doesn't It Always Begin In Blood
Lin, whose name was infamous around the world, sat on the beach stained with blood of who knows how many men. Her old home was burnt and she had no idea what had happened here. She needed to avenge them, her friends. They had counted on her and she had let them down again. he pondered the red sand as tears streamed down her face. "Oh Raine. Why can't you be here?" She thought to herself. She looked up at the woman who was looking down at her.
"What is your name girl?" She asked. Lin stared at her, she was odd, then again how odd she must look kneeling, crying in blood soaked sand.
"Lin, my name is Lin."
"Oh, so you are the Lin who the villagers call the savior? You sit here bawling about a lost friend when you should be doing out there doing something. Get up."
Lin rose to her feet brushing off the sand that clung to her. Lin looked at the woman and replied "Let's go. "Here you go you nonexistent people who read this story the third part. It was written by Amanda and is pretty good ugh may be some mistakes I'm pretty tired right now oh and if anyone actually reads this I would love a review since its not really under a anime thing none can really get to it except under our name which means that if you are reading this your probably the only one yet. Hehehe listen to me grouse well here you go.

Unseen Eyes
As I slowly led the girl away I look down into her numb face, hmmm must still be in shock. I'm surprised now that I've met her she's very young around my age. In her teens and already a warrior, its not fair. Our world is in to much chaos but if she can do what she is called to that will all change. I wonder what the world will be like without the forces of Nakara. They've been around for so many generations. To be at peace, how odd that would feel. Ah here we are. *switching to 3rd person* As they slowly walked through the forest not far from the beach they approached a small clearing. In the clearing a fire was already started, two meals were being cooked over the fire and two sleeping blankets were spread out on the ground nearby. Lin looked around for the other person when none appeared she realized the truth. "You knew I was going to be there and needed your help. How?" She asked suspiciously. The woman settled on a log by the fire not even looking up as she pulled out a bag and stated pulling out some items. "HOW?" Lin yelled angrily across the clearing. Finally the woman looked up and Lin gasped as she started to fall into the two red pools the color of blood. She frantically tried to breathe, she slowly regained control and was able to look into those eyes without getting lost. She marveled at how they were so much like a cat's yet a color she had never seen except in battle, such a deep red.
"Sit down and let me tend to your wounds." The woman's voice revealed no emotion and even as Lin asked "What?" ,surprised out of her reverie, she felt herself move inexplicably toward her and sit on the log near her. 'I really am tired' she thought to herself letting the explanation go at that.
"Some of your older wounds got reopened while you sat there and they could use some looking after." Lin marveled at how her face and voice didn't change at all while she spoke. Lin took a good look at her while she cleaned, disinfected, and wrapped her wounds with surprisingly gentle hands. Her long black hair sparked with red as she shifted as the light hit it. It reached about her knees and was gathered about halfway down with a piece of white leather that the ends of dangled the rest of the way down her hair. Her features were thin and angular and yet smooth like she was not used to eating well but didn't mind much anymore. Her skin was fair almost white as if she was used to moving in shadows and usually worked by night. Her ears were puzzling Lin more than a little as well, they were longer then a human's and yet shorter then an elf's. Lin once again puzzled her eyes, slitted like a cats yet red, she looked for them but was again blocked by perpetually half lidded eyes.
Lin wondered what kind of animal had been used to make the woman's leather outfit. It was all white and yet appeared naturally so. Her outfit was leather pants with a loose belt not really needed but more for show, its tail was long and hung to her feet just a strip of leather held together at the top where the buckle should be by a small blue jewel in a silver setting that the leather ran through. Her top was cut above her stomach, the collar being modestly cut. The sleeves were long and ended exactly where the gloves began that matched the rest of the outfit. It didn't seem to offer much protection but then something in the way she moved let Lin believe not many people would get close enough to make a hit anyway. Her entire being seemed battle ready even now in the relative peace of the glade. She was of medium height and overall did not seem formidable but something belied that in just the emptiness of her face. "Who are you?" Lin whispered half to herself.
She shivered quietly as the unseen eyes fixed on her face. "I am your guide to vengeance. You may call me Kitty." ______________________

Kitty? What kind of name is that? I thought as I stared up at her. Revenge .... it sounded so ..... sweet. I said "Fine. Lets go look for the people who did this."
"Well Lin. I like your style. Let's get to work." she rose of the log and waited for me. I rose up and put out the fire. We walk and walk and walk. No, I walked. She jumped from tree to tree. I looked up at her. "Are you having fun?" I shouted up. "Yep." she purred. I started walking again until we came to a still river. I stared in. My brown hair had become very untidy. My blue half-cape was dirty and so was I. I saw Kitty's reflection beside me. She said "What's wrong?" I dipped my hand into the water. "It is to slow." She looked at me. "What do you mean?" I took my hand out. "Last time I was here I never encountered a river that ran slow. Is everything so bad? By the way," I looked up at her "Why are you here and why do you want to help me? I should just go home..."

K The Rules Of The Game
Kitty instantly returned from the smile she had been wearing to her normal cold mask. She had been getting a little to friendly she could never forget her mission. But how much of it to tell she wondered. As she peered into Lin's eyes she decided most of the truth would be the best way to go. "I'm a mercenary. I steal, guide, fight, break things, fix things, carry messages, act, guard people and things, and do the occasional quest. The Council of Arath'ar sent me to watch over you so you can get revenge." Lin looked confused and angry. "Who is this council and why do they want to help me?" Kitty"s face revealed no emotion as she pondered how to respond. "I don't really know why they are doing this they may just want a favor from you in return but the council never does anything without a reason." "But who are they?" Lin interrupted. "The Council of Arath'ar" Kitty said impatiently. "is very secretive I know more than most and that's not much. I believe they say their goal is balance. They are some of the smartest and the toughest of each race, they are based at Oli'anthoir the so called library city. All knowledge will at some point enter that city. Maybe helping you will make things more balanced." Lin looked suspiciously at her. "Why did they send you I can't imagine a mercenary is very trustworthy." Kitty's eyes flashed with anger and suddenly Lin was wondering where her sword had gotten to. "I always keep my word. ALWAYS, no matter what. They have hired me a bunch of times before because I'm the best and I guarantee secrecy will be upheld. What they told me was that you had a reason for revenge and I was to help by tracking, healing, and fighting if nesasary. I am your guide as I've said before so get used to me. Until the council tell me otherwise or you get your revenge I'm your new shadow. So what am I tracking?"

Moving On
"I don't know who could have done this." I said. In fact I really didn't. After I killed that wizard no one would really cross me or Raine, but, Raine... is no longer with us. He left his general in charge. We made our way to the smoldering castle. Which was half built under water. "Kitty? Well we have to get in there. Can you swim?"
"Yes I can." She replied. I told her about the underwater entrance. I plugged my nose and jumped in. Swimming downward into the hole that was the entrance. I climbed out to see people recovering lost items, clothes and their children. I through and made my way to the castle. Kitty was following close behind not making a sound. She could have left or stabbed me or something but she didn't. I wondered about this council and why they wanted me to take revenge. Is it something to do with this balance? I came to the inside and discovered most of the damage. The walls were burnt black. I yelled out "Someone get in here and start cleaning!" Kitty smirked. I must take over.

One Lump Of Confusion Or Two
'Hmmmm well at least she is getting over the initial shock.' Kitty thought to herself. She gazed at the burnt castle. "Well at least its mostly not structural damage." Kitty remarked aloud. "What!? Look at this place it's awful." Lin yelled.
"It's mostly just the surface of the stones and not the internal structure that was damaged. I see some people who are wounded I will get to work with that first." Lin watched as Kitty walked away, amazed how one second she was threatening to track down people and maim them then she's helping to heal innocents without being asked. "Sheesh she's weird." Lin grumbled to herself watching as Kitty slowly wrapped a bandage around a child's arm that had been burned. "Everyone get to work now, get cleaning crews and some people scavenging for food." Kitty listened to Lin yelling and sighed. She slowly walked up behind a woman and was surprised when the woman jumped and looked up at her startled. She remembered just in time to quickly slit her eyes so the woman wouldn't be even more afraid or get hurt. She sometimes forgot that she walked stealthier than almost anyone. She hadn't been around people in a while and had forgotten about the instant dislike and distrust that always followed her for no apparent reason. It was if they could sense that she was different and she knew full well how people reacted to things they didn't understand. She slowly checked the woman's baby that she had very hesitantly allowed to hold while thinking about Lin. Lin was different, Kitty had made her uneasy and startled but she didn't automatically distrust her like everyone else did. She wondered why one such as her, a fighter and naturally cautious, wouldn't be affected by the thing about Kitty that made everyone else shy away. She had even looked in Kitty's eyes and not been affected. That had been a calculated risk on Kitty's part. She had been suspicious when Lin had first met her and actually followed her. She had been prepared to do some serious persuading and if nesacary use force. Showing Lin her eyes was they she tested how far the differed from everyone else. She differed a lot. Thats why this woman had almost caught a glimpse of her eyes, she was getting used to Lin's acceptance. It just felt good to be able to walk with her eyes fully open and not worry about Lin questioning everything she said out of fear. Her eyes turned away from the woman walking away from her quickly and looked up at the high walls that surrounded her. Her gaze fell on to the immense shadows pooled all over the place from the walls and pillars everywhere out in the courtyard. A smile spread over face thinking about how easy it would be to sneak around here. She liked this place already. She spotted a little girl with a cut one her arm and hurried on. She was aware of the glances full of fear in her direction but chose to ignore them. She hadn't been near humans in so long.... she wouldn't mess this up she had to much to lose. She glanced at Lin wondering if she knew or even suspected the important role she would soon be playing.

I looked at Kitty. People were visibly shying away from her. She reminded me of someone I knew when I was little. Maybe... hmmmm oh well. A troop of people came from the nearby village to help fix the interior damage. During the day I caught a few glimpses of Kitty. At night fall, surprisingly half of it was fixed. The old servants made us dinner. Kitty and I didn't talk much about halfway through we heard a strange noise outside.

Ditto But Not As Bad
Kitty and Lin quickly jumped to their feet and grabbed their swords. They quickly and quietly made their way to the gate and sidled up quietly to watch as three robed figures disappeared through a hole in the gate they had created. Lin and Kitty looked at each other in surprise at the retreat. They slowly walked toward the gate, glancing everywhere anxious that a trap had been laid. They both slowly straightened when suddenly Kitty returned to the fighters crouch. She was sniffing the wind with her head tilted as if she were listening to something faint. Her face showed concentration then a flicker of surprise and maybe a bit of consternation. Lin looked at her in surprise. "What is .....ack!" She was interrupted by a figure crashing through the hole in the gate. They both stared at the huge dark monster. 'It looks similar to a griffin except all the griffins I've seen or heard about have been beautiful.' Lin thought to herself. It was large, black except the parts of it that were covered in green scales. Green acrid smelling saliva dripped from the things fanged mouth and its claws shimmered unnaturally in the moonlight. "What do I have a attack me sign on my back or what?" Lin cried out in frustration. Kitty smiled a grin far to predatory to comfort Lin and replied "I don't know but this could be fun I haven't had a good fight in a while. So lets get to it. Lin gaped at her and then slowly a smile spread across her face and she returned "Well I guess we should." They both smiled at each other with looks that would have made many a hardy man run away in fear. Simultaneously they leaped in opposite directions swords in their hands prepared to fight the beast.

Revelation
Kitty disappeared almost immediately. She was very agile. The thing clawed the ground in front of me. I jumped out of the way. It was no problem. It screamed as Kitty ripped her claws down it's back. I screamed out "Kitty, MOVE!" She jumped again and I released a huge amount of wind energy and blew it into a wall. It hit it with a huge fleshy thump. Kitty had jumped above me. "Now you move!" I jumped out of the way just as she released a huge fireball from her hand. The thing screamed until it was a pile of ash. While we were preocupied with the griffin wantabe the gate must have shut. I flopped to the ground. Kitty slides down gracefully. "That was the first monster I have fought in a while." I say. "Yes, wasn't it fun?" she says back we both laugh until we are close to hysterics. "Kitty, I've felt like I've known you for a long time." I say. Her expression instantly freezes up. "Oops" I say under my breath. I guess I said something wrong. She was looking at me coldly when a soldier came. He bowed to me. I said "What is wrong?" He goes "Nothing Your Majesty." I freeze, Majesty? I thought. The soldier goes on. "On account of your acts both past and present and on account that the current king is missing we want to pronounce you the current dictator." I look up at him. The color draining from my face. I rise to my feet. Kitty does so as well. They are both staring at me. I close my eyes and say "Is that all?" he noddes "Then you are dismissed." He says in an enthusiastic tone while going "Yes Your Majesty." Kitty is looking at me with a small grin on her face. She goes "Well your Highness, what now?" Something in my mind clicks. I have said that tosomeone before .... when I was little... who was it?.. Who? Who? I turn to her. "It was you!" I said "Kitiana!"

Memories... Or Not
Kitty froze with the terror she always felt when somone said her full name. She stared at Lin trying hard to get in control of her emotions and from the look on Lin's face sh wasn't doing a good job. "What?" Kitty whispered weakly. "I know you!" Lin cried out "When we were little. You wandered into ourvillage you looked so sad I gave you some food. You decided to stay for awhile. We played that we were princesses of the faerie court." Kitiana's head whirled and she abruptly sat down she was having a hard time breathing. She desperatly wished her memories were clearer. She couldn't remember. "Curse that Council." she whispered harshly. "Kitty? Kitty? What's wrong? What did you say? Kitty-cat come on what is wrong?! Are you okay?!" She loudly called griping Kitty's shoulders. Kitty's eyes snapped up at the nick name. Slowly in her head a picture of a little girl with a crown of flowers upon her head formed in her mind. "Lin? Linny? Is it really you?" she whispered looking dazed. "Yes its me." Lin returned dropping to her knees and giving Kitiana a hug. Kitiana gazed down at Lin's hair dazedly wondering what to do. Slowly she put her arms hesitantly around Lin. Lin looked so happy she wondered why. She didn't have the heart to tell her she had only the vaguest memory of her but at least she now had a part of her past. Maybe Lin would help her put the puzzle together, at least now she had a piece. Now more than ever she had a reason to protect and help Lin. Kitty wondered about who she really was but was afraid to find out. `Well at least now I know why the council sent told me this girl would be able to help me even as I helped her. Huh. I hate those guys. I wonder what they are up to. Well I probably dont want to know anyway. Hmmm I just hope they know what they are doing.' Kitty thought to herself. Looking down at Lin she felt better than she had in awhile. `Well' she mused to herself `It wasn't like I was expecting this to be dull anyway. We all wil need serios therapy before this is over or at least more of it than now anyway.'

Sappy Shortness
I was so happy to find her again. When we were kids and together for the short amount of time we had fun. We used to go into the villages of bad people and start defeating them and they would warn about cute little girls who could beat the stuffing out of anyone who did wrong. My mother left my father when I was little. Then she was murdered by some bad guys. I was so sad. The I found Kitiana and everything was better. W parted from our hug. I looked at Kitty-cat. "Kitty." I said. "I want you to go see the council and ask them what they want of me okay?"

Long Name
Kitiana looked at Lin suspiciously. "I don't think I should. Those people might send some more demons after here. That and there are more people to be healed."
"But I need to know so I can stop them. That and I think they were after us so if we leave they will be safe." Lin replied hurriedly. Kitty looked at her not knowing how to feel about all of this. She had never worked with someone for so long, or at least she didn't think she had. It had been a long day. "Fine I will go and ask them it will take us a couple of days to get there. Lin looked at her puzzled. "But its leagues away it would take us weeks to walk there." Kitty smiled mischeviously. "Who said you would walk."
"Huh?" replied Lin. "You can ride my horse she usually wont let anyone but me ride her but for you she will make an exception." Kitty replied camly. "What you made me walk all the way here when I could have walked?!" Lin yelled angrily. "Well yes, I didn't want to tire Lalaniotaira."
"Lalanioty..what?"
"My horse, just call her Lani. You will ride her, I will run or climb and jump as the case may be." Lin's eyes got big. "Okay, if you say so. Can you keep up?" Lin's statement died on her lips as Kitty's eyes narrowed. "Uh so how big is Olianthoir? As big as here?" Kitty's eyes relaxed as she grinned. "Huh well its not so much of a city as an entire island on the topof a giant waterfall in the middle. "Oh." said Lin wide eyed. "Sounds like we will have fun." Kitty smirked "Sure we will."

Annoying Voices and Darkness
She led me to her horse and she spoke to it, then it let me ride it. Riding another horse makes me miss my own so much.... Oh well you can't dote on something that is gone now can we? I rode, it gave me time to think. I thought about being Queen and Kitty and the council we are going to see. Kitty came down and said. "We are about halfway there." I nodded and she disapeared again. I rode a little way more before I started getting numb and my senses were screaming. Then I heard someone say "Lin, where are you going? You will leave me again are you?" I started to slide off the horse. I felt myself fall and Kitty cry out, but then everything was black. I woke up a while later distorted. I could hear a waterfall. I looked over as my vision cleared and gasped. "We're here." Kitty replied.
