Chapter Six - Let the Festivities Commence

A/N: Hee, working on a new fic so expect the wait between chapters to be a bit…long. Lol

Glimpse Ahead: A devious plot…a dance…a decision?

'Fuck…fucking fuck, FUCK!'

Kevin seemed to wake, and tore Yuki off of him. He ran into class, preparing some kind of explanation. But, a small crowd of girls barricaded his way…

"You… Jerk!" one of the girls yelled, rubbing Shawn's shoulder as he continued weeping inconsolably behind his textbook.

"He may be a jerk, but he's my jerk, love!" Yuki giggled, walking into class with a spring to her step, tugging Kevin away from the scene and helping him (none too gently) into his seat.

"Yuki! Just… Shut up for a second oka-" Kevin began, but was interrupted by Yuki.

"But… Kevie… You love me, right? Not that little fruit, right?" Yuki asked, frowning. It was at that moment that Instructor Cream slammed a ruler down infront of the girl, snapping her attention to him.

"Miss Utuda, I don't want to remind you there is no talking after the bell rings, or using offensive terms in MY class. Is that clear?" Lariat asked, glaring daggers at the redhead. He didn't necessarily NEED to know what was going on to know that he wasn't going to like the outcome…

"Yes, Instructor," Yuki said in the most snarky tone of voice she could get away with, curling one finger in a loose strand of red hair idly. The rest of class time was uninterrupted by her, although she did grasp Kevin's arm once and a while, whilst smirking at Shawn joyously. In her mind… She had won…

--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

"Die, darling!"

The crack of a whip pierced the air as the leather weapon struck a wolf-like beast dead between the eyes. Sarah brought the whip back towards her, maneuvering the handle so it swung behind her instead of hitting her or her comrades.

Yuki waved her hand, summoning a puddle of water beneath another canine. The water grew and rushed beneath it, knocking it into the air. Derrik followed up by rushing up to it, punching it twice then kicking it into a tree.

"Speaking of die…" Yuki began, running a hand through her fiery locks, "Do you think that, uhm, the Headmaster would get mad about an… Accident?" Yuki asked, as her two friends looked back at her.

"Yuki, dear, you wouldn't!" Sarah shrieked, astounded. Yuki smiled sinisterly, placing a hand on her hip.

"You'll see. Hee!" Yuki was interrupted as a bird dive-bombed into her head, sending her stumbling backwards some after a loud banging sound.

"Oi! Quit slacking, dear!" Sarah teased, waving her hand as a flow of deep pink energy flowed upwards from beneath Yuki, passing through her body and reappearing somewhere above her. It cascaded back down, and around her, forming a bubble of light that faded away with an aura of sparkling light. Yuki giggled at the sensation of being healed, before pointing at the bird, setting it aflame.

'Yes… You'll see…' Yuki thought, smiling as she planned out what to do. She waved her hand once more, as a bolt of lightning struck the flayed corpse, followed by a swirling cloud of frost. Yuki giggled as she continued to overkill the dead creature, blowing it away with a rising column of eddying green wind.

'You'll all see!' She snickered to herself… 'All of you…'

Ian hopped on Jade's back, snickering happily as she helped hang the decorations for the prom.

"Ack! Get off! You're gonna kill Jadie!" Jade laughed, spinning while Ian's legs dangled from the spiraling ride. He eventually fell off, landing on his blue and white clad behind with a loud 'oof'. Jade sniggered, smoothing out the wrinkles in her pink, ankle-length skirt. Shawn watched the freshman play with one of his friends, while sitting down on one of the benches that would soon be covered in white cloths and bowls of punch. He wrapped his arms around his knees, hugging them close to himself as he rested his head on them. He felt tired. Too tired to fight it, and all the hurt that it would bring… Seeing them together. Yuki and Kevin…

'I was so stupid. How could I possibly think he would like me?' Shawn asked, resting his forehead on his knee, moving his hand up to grip the hair in the back of his head. It hurt as he nearly pulled out his hair, but the pain kept him grounded to his place on the bleachers. Keeping him sane.

"Heads up, losers," A deep baritone voice bellowed, echoing throughout the large banquet hall. Shawn looked up to see Derrik, arms crossed infront of his black muscle shirt. Sarah walked in next, placing a hand on her hip as she flung her hair over her shoulder.

"What do you want, Derrik?" Ian asked bitterly, putting his hands on his hips and looking up at the hulking teen, not intimidated in the slightest. Derrik promptly shoved him onto the floor, and he prepared to step on him. So distracted by the thought of hurting someone he was, that he didn't even notice Jade. He growled in pain as her foot collided with his shin.

"Knock it off!" the sandy brown haired girl yelled, helping her friend up as he coughed, trying to regain the wind that was knocked out of him. Sarah coughed, holding a head to her forehead as she shook her head embarrassedly.

"Honestly, darling, he's just a kid. No need to stick up for him so much! Ha! 'Sides, he's like your friend Shawn-y boy over there. Not like you'll get anything in return!" Sarah scoffed, before bursting into a fit of laughter. After regaining her composer, she cleared her voice and spoke again before Jade could tell her that she didn't NEED anything in return. "Anyway…we came to tell you to hurry your sorry asses up. Headmaster Kaiser has moved the prom night to tomorrow night," She said, bowing to the group who was now crowded around her, whispering about the change of scheduling. She snapped her fingers and left for the door, with Derrik right behind her.

--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

"Well Janis?" Asked a man, sitting in a large chair as he watched the blond move around his glass office. He adjusted his thick-rimmed glasses as he swirled his chair to look out the window into space.

"No need to worry, sir. We acquired all the necessary files we need to find the Judge. It'll be operational, and viewable from Heaven shortly," The General said, saluting the older man obediently.

"Excellent…"

--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

"And thus, there exists a high plain of magical power. This is called the Devine Level, and only a great magic-caster can reach such a level."

Lariat continued his lesson without fault or pause, speaking each word perfectly and with precision.

"The most terrible spells at this level are known as the Forbidden Spells. These are magics such as Meteor Fall, which opens a wormhole in the area, linked to space. Once the wormhole is open in the area chosen by the magic-user, any space debris floating about near the celestial gate will be sucked up and sent flying towards the magic-user's victim," Lariat continued, walking about the room and looking over the student's shoulders to make sure they were taking notes. He paused as he looked at a hulking… Sleeping young bully…

"Ahem. Mr. Banes, if you would please join us in today's lesson?" Lariat said loudly, pulling on the muscular teen's ear until he woke up.

"I'm up! I'm up!" Derrik shouted, wincing as Lariat dug his nails into his ear to remind him of the 'No Sleeping in Class' rule.

"Good. I was about to get to the best part: the ultimate spell, Damnation. It draws out the sins and turmoil of the person using it, and focuses it into energy. Depending on the emotional distraught and rage of the wielder, it can have catastrophic consequences," The teacher warned, setting his book down as the bell rang. Immediately his students popped out of their seats, racing for the door, save for a few. A group of girl walked over to the longhaired instructor, poking him on the shoulder to get his attention.

"Instructor? Is it true that you'll be performing at the prom?" she asked, giggling as the blonde smiled up at her.

"Why yes, Miss Jones. I will be just below the stage, dancing while one of the students sings," Lariat replied, removing his glasses. The group of girls squealed with excitement, running out of class as they pictured the slightly older man dancing around on stage.

"Ah… To be young again…" Lariat sighed, and then watched as Shawn walked out.

'Then again… Poor thing. I know how you feel, Shawn.' Lariat thought, frowning as the boy walked out of class, missing that glow he once had.

--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------

"Ke-vie! Lookit my dress!" Yuki squealed, twirling around to show off her low-cut one piece with a lacey train that reached the back of her knees. Kevin sighed in annoyance, rubbing his temple as the redhead continued 'modeling' her purchase.

"Yes, Yuki, it's very… Something. Now hurry up," Kevin replied, tugging on the collar of his black shirt as Yuki came off her sugar high. The hyper cadet nodded, latched onto Kevin's arm, and pulled him out of their dorm and towards the ballroom.

"Heehee, I can't wait to see the instructor perform!" One of the girls all but yelled, shaking her date roughly as the main event was about to begin. Kevin stood a few feet from the stage, sipping his cup of punch, bored. Yuki was off talking to Sarah and some other girls, but promised to be back before the show. Kevin scanned the crowd, spotting Jade, and then Ian, but no Shawn. Suddenly, the lights dimmed, and the spotlight shone on the stage. Yuki ran up to Kevin, running her hands through her free hair as she giggled with glee.

The music began, and a pale blue light illuminated the stage.

"If only I had one more chance,"

The song began, and one dancer stepped on stage, wearing a bizarre outfit with two stick-like objects protruding from the shoulder of the suit, decorated with many rings that jingled as he danced.

The second dancer was female, wearing a pink, skin-tight body suit with feathers ornamenting it. They moved about stage in perfect choreography with each other.

"To change my life today, then I would never let you go!"

That was when he stepped on stage, causing Kevin to choke on his punch. Shawn moved about the stage, dancing around in time with the oddly dressed backup dancers as he sang.

"All my friends keep telling me, that I should leave you for a while…"

Yuki's eyes flickered with rage, as well as something…else. She mouthed 'one minute' to Kevin, before running off into the crowd around the stage. Shawn held his hand infront of him, pointing at the crowd (or more specifically, Kevin).

"So you must show your love to me, and tell me what you feel!"

Shawn held his hand aloft above him, and then brought it down his body, cupping one of his knees as he bent over. His emotion evident in his tear filled eyes.

"I thought that even you had feelings for me too! I know I was wr-ong! But baby, when you care… Then I will be there! By your si-de!"

Kevin felt a squeeze on his heart at the lyrical confession, followed quickly by a twinge of guilt. The music hit a crescendo, and several laser-lights shined about. Shawn began a flurry of hand-movements, and head tosses as he sang out the chorus.

"And now I stand here alone in the dark, without you! There's nothing more than I would like than to be with you! I close my eyes but I can't stop thinking of you! And now I stand here alone in the dark, without yo-ou!"

It was at that point that Lariat appeared just below the stage as the lights on the two dancers and Shawn dimmed slightly. The music in the song slowed slightly as Lariat produced first one, and then the other Tessen that he used in battle. The crowd that watched their teacher, dressed in a foreign mesh shirt and tight leather pants, gasped as he threw one deadly fan into the air.

And then the other. Moving to the growing beat, he caught them, and threw them up into the air yet again in his dance of death…

The two backup dancers spread their legs, gripping onto their upper thighs as they gyrated, while Shawn spun once, clapping his hands to the tempo as he returned to face the crowd. Before he could continue the song, however, one of the lights shut off, and a resounding creak pierced the air.

'What the hell?' Kevin thought, scanning the ceiling for the source of the interruption. That was when he saw one of the large lights swinging around dangerously, before the wire it was attached to snapped. Kevin's heart raced, and he charged the stage, knocking Shawn out of the way as it crashed right where he had been.

"K-Kev?" Shawn asked shakily, looking at the large hole in the stage where the light had crashed through.

"I'm sorry, Shawn… I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Kevin repeated over and over, holding the smaller boy close as Instructor Cream ran up to see what had happened, and the backup dancers moved away from the scene to keep from getting hurt by anymore lights.

"What happened?" Lariat asked, looking above them for the person responsible for the light's fall, but couldn't see anyone. Suddenly, two columns of light surrounded the backup dancers, and they screamed painfully as a green mist-like energy surrounded them. Their eyes changed to a completely yellow color, like the waxing moon or the shade of yellow in a cat's eye. The male dancer broke the staff-like objects from his shoulder pads, and they suddenly grew a few feet longer in a sparkling flurry of light. He growled wildly, swinging his blunt, makeshift weapon at the three men. Lariat jumped out of the way, stumbling over a piece of the set and falling down. Kevin rolled on the ground, keeping Shawn close to him as they dodged the attack.

"Ian! C'mon!" Jade yelled, running out of the ballroom with the freshman right on her heels. Shawn looked up to see the female dancer flying towards them in a jump kick, not liking how close the high-heeled foot was getting.

"Shield of light!" The brunette cried, holding his hand out infront of him. Three wisps of cerulean magic circled the area infront of the boy's hand, fading as a disk of golden light appeared in the space in the middle of the blue loop. The dancer struck the shield, leaning all her weight into breaking it, but soon bounced off, performing a backflip to avoid getting injured.

The dancer's male counterpart once again swung his weapon at the two boys; a wall of green wind, which attempted to shred it, stopped him. "Razor Storm!" Lariat shouted, running towards the duo, "Are you two alright?"

All hell had broken out as the students ran in every dierection. Trying to burst down now locked doors and the cries of those that fell in the crowd were horrific.

"Yes, Instructor - Look out!" Shawn yelled, while pulling down the blonde's head as the long weapon once again swiped out them. The feminine dancer jumped at them again, aiming for Lariat.

"Dark clouds part, please thunder, lend us your power... Lightning!"

Three strands of electricity struck the dancer, knocking her away in a crackling heap as Jade ran up onto the stage, grasping her nunchaku and Ian in tow.

"What's going on?" The freshman asked, pulling his weapons from his belt. He held the two circular weapons tightly, careful not to touch the sharp blade on the front of the weapon.

"I told you, I don't know! That's why I said for us to go the dorms to get our weapons!" Jade said, preparing another spell. "Icy breath of winter, encircle and cage! Ice!" Frost filled winds enclosed the twitching dancer as she recovered from her shock to the system, incasing her in a mass of hoarfrost as a javelin of ice jutted out of the icy pile.

"One down, and one to go!" Ian said cheerfully as he brought his rings infront of him. "Two times the fun! Twin Moon!" the young boy yelled, tossing the disks at the dancer. The bladed rings pierced the man's weapons, hacking them off. He then ran towards the dancer, jumping up and colliding with his jaw using his foot. A brilliant light flashed from within the ice cage and the knocked out man, and a rising shaft of green energy radiated from their bodies.

"W-what happened?" the man asked, rubbing his chin. Jade struck the ice tomb with her weapon, cracking it and causing it to shatter. Just to be on the safe side, Shawn used some healing magic on both of the dancers.

"Why did you go ballistic?" Kevin asked, looking at both of them.

"I…don't know. It's like something just took over," The feathered dancer woman replied, rubbing her still cold shoulders.

------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------

High above the scene, from a walkway near the lighting fixtures, a familiar redhead scowled. "I…will not lose to that damned boy!" she shouted, while an aura of red angry energy surrounded her.
