Ch 7: Dislocated Fingers and Sakai Takeshi
5 Jun 2002
Sakai Kumiko was doing her damndest to break her husband's hand. A year had passed since they married, and now their child was about to be born. And Kumiko was absolutely livid. "I hope. I hope Hiroyuki, I just hope you are very pleased with yourself, because it's your fault I'm in absolute hell!"
Sakai looked pained and the tetsujin in the next room began sniggering; most of them had been in the same boat.
"Um…I'm sorry?"
"SORRY ISN'T GOING TO HELP ME!!!!!!"
"Yeow!" Sakai yelped as Kumiko dislocated his middle finger. "Hey! I need that!"
Nakamura raked in his winnings as the others grumbled at losing the bet and Morimoto stared at horrid fascination.
When the contraction subsided, Kumiko calmed down. "I did that?" she asked, pointing to Sakai's finger. Too much in pain to speak, he merely nodded.
"This is cheery," the doctor said as she came in. "Why don't you get your finger fixed?"
"What? And leave me by myself?" Kumiko yelled.
"You have six tetsujin and a chairman you can wear out!"
"But…" Kumiko screamed in pain.
"Okay, this kid is coming now."
Sakai saw blood and fainted.
"Does this happen to every tetsujin or what?" someone said.

Sakai shot up. His hand was bandaged up and the chairman was standing against the wall.
"You okay?"
"What happened?"
"You fainted. They fixed your finger while you were out cold. By the way, Kumiko says she's sorry and to tell you that your son's fine."
"Son?!" Sakai got up and ran out of the room. The chairman shook her head. Sakai poked his head in the door.
"Houou, which way?"

Everyone was cooing over the baby when Sakai ran into the room, followed by Houou. They stepped back to let him go to his wife and their son.
Sakai's jaw dropped. It was a perfect picture, Kumiko holding him; he was afraid to disturb it. Kumiko looked up and met eyes with him.
"He's perfect."
"Not as perfect as you." (cue gagging noise)
Sakai stepped over to them and let one of his good fingers linger over his son's face. The kid's eyes popped open. Kumiko whispered something in his ear.
"Takeshi? I think that'd be a good name for him."
The other Iron Chefs murmured their approval.
"Take-oji would have liked that."
About half a year ago, Kaga died from eating fugu. Now Hou was the chairman, and Sakai's offspring would take his name.
"Sakai Takeshi. Welcome to the family."
