Chapter 1 Genesis

Surrounded by trees the red stained ground unbotherd by leaves lay dormant beneath the feet of the not so silent assasin Shayla Meguri. swift as lightning and just as deadly she had just finished off a group of "Gazelle" as the land dwellers were called. She was a sky dweller a "Hawk", with medium length red hair, green eyes and light green tinted wings on top of her head she was quite a sight for someone who had never seen a sky child before.

It was rare for a hawk to walk amongst the land people and when they did it usually meant something big was going to happen soon. Shayla now walked along the dusty road to the next town she would "bless" with her presence, the merchent town of Aveth

Upon entering the gates she noticed alot of people were staring at her, she snarled bitterly at them. It was the Gazelle who drove her and the other demi-humans (half human half beast) to live up in the sky colony where they were said to stay forever, but that did not stop the ocasional Hawk from slipping on down to Earth's grounds.

She had walked for some time taking in the sights around her and picking up a few needed supplys At the end of town stood an Inn and she decided she needed a hot bath and some rest. She enterd through the old wooden doors into the crowded vacinity The air carried the scent of cheap whisky and other alcoholic fumes. She had assumed there was a bar and she was right. Upon further inspection she noticed there were only men around execpt for the waitress. odd she thought but dismissed it . The inkeeper came up from behind her "looks like you caught us at a bad time, we are full and there are no other rooms" she did not look back at him or move much for that matter. " then were can i bathe? and rest, you do know who i am right" she gave a grin. he nodded. "yes a Hawk, your kind comes down here once in a while thinking you are supierior because your more advanced than us" he saw her hand close on a sheath attached to her waiste, apparently she was a sword master, but the innkeepr kept on ranting. " if you need a place to sleep there are roofs and barns for free, and if you want a bath the Rohan river is only a short distance away that is the best i can give you as i said you came on a bad night" he waited for her to kill him as that was the way of a Hawk but she did not instead she handed him fifty mern ( money) and walked towards the door "your information and hospitality was, less than satifactory but you were right about one thing, i am supierior, dont you ever forget that" she slammed the door behind her, the hinges rattled for a bit. The innkeeper sighed " i was damn lucky" he whisperd to himself turning back to the desk to watch the bar men laugh and go about there business as if nothing had happend.

At Rohan river Shayla welcomed the cool water as she scraped off patches of dried blood with herra leaves. The misty fog of the night was calming and the moon was bright and full giving the crickets enough sence of security to make thier nightly music. She looked up to the stars, her home she was on a mission and could not go back untill it was complete, but earth was a vast planet full of people and animals, how could she find the one person she needed? She pulled out a picture, a girl about seventeen with brownish-blonde hair straight down past her shoulders stared at her, a name was written on back, Black Rose clearly a mercenary name, a nickname , so finding her would be twice as hard. She got up out of her bath and put on her usual attire: a green top and black pants, for someone who fights alot she she had no armor, noone could hit her anyways, the only unpenatrable items on her where her wrist bracers.

It was now well past midnight and she did not desire to go back to Aveth so she had decided to spend the night in the neighboring forest. She set up camp and created a small fire to keep the mosquitos away, if any for the forest she was staying in was a place of evil, the trees and other vegitation were turned to stone, petrified from some unknown source. She lay down on the hard Earth, how she yearned for a soft bed! but the drowziness and and hunger overcame her body as she drifted off into a deep dreamless sleep.

Morning came along with the song of the Skylarks who merrily sang of the sun and clouds, it was a beutiful day Shayla concluded upon awakening, The sun was already high in the sky and she knew she had overslept. She left the sticks and leaves she used for her fire where they lay and she spread out her wings, gave a long streach and flapped them, dirt and dust came from them causing her to sneeze "great thats all i need to do as soon as i wake up" she slowly rose from the ground and hoverd above the grey mass of stone.
