1-1

"Wow, he looks like he's been through a lot. Where did you find him?" a female voice breaks the silence. A male voice follows up.

"Down by the old man's house. I just walked out when he hit the ground, with that sword in his hand………Princess, that's the Master Sword AND the Hylian Shield. Who ever this guy is………I don't think he's on our side, I don't trust him."

"Now, now, now, Link, let's not jump to……………" I sprung awake.

"I'm okay!! I'm fine. I just have a head ach that won't quit! I heard that name: Link. Who is it?" I asked, rubbing away my throbbing head.

"That's me. Who are you??" a male in a green tunic responded, drawing his sword.

"Whoa!! Slow down there, Link. No violence, here. I just want to get home. Where am I?" I stared him in the eye.

"Hyrule. You're not one of Ganondorf's goons?"

"Ha, ha, ha………who's Ganondorf?" I replied. He opened his mouth to speak when a deafening crash cut us off. I looked towards the source of the noise. It came from the wall behind a female in an extremely lavishly decorated dress. Then, from the rubble, stood a blue, pit-bull looking creature, holding a double-edged trident. He grabbed the girl and spoke in a booming voice.

"SO, LINK. I'VE HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT YOU………WHOSE IS YOUR FRIEND, HERE? LOOKS QUIET THE WIMP. OH, ONE LAST THING……… IF YOU WANT TO FIND ME, COLLECT ALL EIGHT PIECES TO THE TRIFORCE OF WISDOM AND COME SEE ME AT DEATH MOUNTAIN………MY PLACE!! I'LL HAVE THE PRINCESS AND THE TRIFORCE OF POWER, IF YOU WANT THEM BACK!!!' he began laughing demonically. `GOOD BYE, LINK! GOOD-BYE, LINK'S FRIEND!!" he then jumped out of the hole in the wall, turned into a dragon, then flew off.

"Believe me? Now………who was that? Looked like my dog." I continued.

"That was Ganon, Ganondorf's other half. He's been tormenting us for years. He's also been talking all big recently………saying he's gonna kidnap the princess, no one took him seriously………until now, at least. If you truly want to go home, you'll have to help me. Apparently, there are three Triforces, Wisdom, Power and Courage. The Triforce of Courage is hidden in this castle, no one is gonna get at it. The Triforce of Power was stolen by Ganon, and the Triforce of Wisdom was broken into eight pieces and scattered throughout this world to hide them. They are in eight underground castles. We thought they were safe………but Ganon's goons managed to break into the castles and establish large creatures to guard the Triforce pieces but, there is some good news………He can't access the pieces, as they are sealed with a magic barrier that only one with a good heart can break. Therefore, only we can get them back………and together. Only the last Triforce can vanquish Ganon. Will you help me?" Link finished his story. I processed all the information.

"There are only eight pieces, right?' I questioned, Link nodded. `Can't be that bad………count me in!!" I exclaimed, jumping from my bed, grabbing the sword and shield, which now were void of any signs of being old, holstering the sword in the scabbard, which was beside the blade, threw the shield over my arm and began to move. Link broke in.

"Wait………what's your name? You never told me."

"Name's Jake. Jake Ballenfield. Resident Hero-for-Hire. Let's move!" I said as Link pulled a map from his pocket.

"The first Castle isn't too far from here. I'll lead the way." He said, motioning me to follow him.

----------

Twenty-one minutes later, we arrived at what appeared to be an old tree stump with an opening. Link ran into the door, vanishing into the darkness. I inhaled slowly, held it, then released it, stepping in. After a short hallway, I saw Link crouching in the middle of the first room, looking at the floor.

"This inscription reads `Castle Eagle'. Mean anything to you, Jake?"

"Maybe that's what the castle's shaped like. Who knows. Let's split up. You explore, I'll go after the big, bad dude. Deal?" I held a hand out. Link nodded, and took off going strait. I turned left.

The next room was square like the previous one, only this one had four bats in the center. `I hope I fight as good and as big as I talk.' I thought, drawing my sword. The bats must have heard me, as they detached themselves from the ceiling and began making bombing runs towards me. Despite there small size and speed, they all fell quickly and easily. After the last bat crashed into the ground in a bloody pulp, a gold key fell from the ceiling. I picked it up, figuring I'd need it. Then, subsequently, a shut door opened on the other side. I smiled and entered this new room.

As I stepped through the rectangular door, it shut behind me, locking me in. Three mole-looking creatures became visible. `They appear to have properties of a chameleon, able to blend into their surroundings. No matter, however, they're nothing.' I thought, feeling slightly full of my self. I charged one of the creatures. It raised it's arm, holding a small, wooden device shaped like a greater-than sign. I then realized what it was. I jumped out of the way, in enough time to see a boomerang fly past my head. When it made it's return trip, I sheathed my sword, and caught it. The mole-thing looked shocked. I smiled.

"Hey, ugly. Want it back?" I questioned. The creature nodded. I raised my arm up, and threw the boomerang at it's head. It's eyes widened, as the wooden killing device decapitated it. The lifeless body exploded, revealing a green gem. I was clueless to the use of this, but I retrieved it anyway. The other two fell almost as quickly as the first. As soon as it began, it was over. I shrugged, and exited through the open door on the north wall.

--Several Minutes Later--

I smiled as I removed my sword from the decaying carcass of another mole-thing. For the last minute or so, I heard an incessant `Gua'-like sound coming from the west wall. It was beginning to become annoying. The shutter, which I recently learned are what they are called, opened, revealing a door. I entered the door, to see Link running away from hand-looking things. I smiled, for it looked extremely amusing. Link must have seen me.

"Jake!! Get rid of these Wall-Masters for me!! Waaaaaaaa!! Don't let them grab you! They'll bring you back to the entrance!! Waaaaaaaaaa!!" he continued to run. I picked up my sword and threw it at the lead hand. The must have seen me, for the went after me instead of Link. Stupidly, they all lined up in a line behind the lead. All eight Wall-Masters were impaled on my sword. Link caught his breath. He nodded a thanks.

"Hey, look at this.' Link said when he caught his breath, pointing at another engraving. This one reading `Aquarius'. It showed a picture of a unicorn-looking dragon. I shrugged. I used one of my keys to unlock the only exit. Link and I entered.

"WELCOME MY FRIENDS!! MY NAME IS AQUARIUS!! MASTER GANON PUT ME HERE TO RETRIEVE THE FIRST PART OF THE TRIFORCE OF POWER. BUT IT SEEMS SOME FORM OF SEAL BLOCKS THE WAY. NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE, WE MIGHT AS WELL HAVE SOME FUN! FIGHT FOR CONTROL OF THE FIRST TRIFORCE PIECE. LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE, MY FRIENDS!!!" Aquarius stopped dead. He began to strafe left and right, firing red fireballs from his horn. I shrugged, and threw my shield like Captain America. The sharp-edged shield severed his horn from his head. Aquarius began screeching and tossing his head from side to side. The stump of the horn bellowed black and red sparks. The light show ended as quickly as it began. The semi-lifeless body of Aquarius slumped down then, he spoke, in a light, softer tone.

"I'm glad…that you were able to free me from my prison' he gasped and wheezed. `I am not a bad creature. Ganon has controlled millions upon' more gasping. `Millions of creatures, such as I. Seven of which, must be freed. By defeating me, you have proven you can…and will overthrow Ganon's reign………'He wheezed a long, and drawn out gasp. `Of terror. Please………free the others. Manhandala, Gleok, Dadongo, Digogger, Goma, Lamola………and you must defeat me again………once Ganon realizes my defeat, he will resurrect and regain control of me………only make me stronger. You must defeat my friends. The six I have mentioned, myself again………and that tyrant Ganon. Only then………'More wheezing. `Can you reclaim your princess,' he turned groggily to my. `and you can return home. But your victory shall be brief, as Ganon shall not fall only………o-o………what is the word?' He spat out. `Ganon shall………return………" and with that, all life left Aquarius. His body slowly disappeared from the floor. The Shutter opened with a groan behind him. With a heavy heart, we collected our prize: the first piece of the Triforce.
