Legolas; Andraya's Plan

Andraya woke the next day to find that Legolas was already leaving. She nearly ran after him, but stopped herself. She had to have a plan before she followed him.

"Andraya?" Amelia rested a hand on her daughter's shoulder, "Are you okay?"

"Yes-no! Oh Mother! How will I get along without him when I already miss him so much? It feels as though somebody has stabbed my heart with a dull knife!" Andraya cried desperately, embracing her mother.

"You'll find a way, dear," Amelia said tenderly. She released Andraya suddenly and pulled an envelope out of the pouch on her dress. "By the way, Legolas wanted me to give this to you.

Andraya took the note and read;

'My Dearest Andraya,

I am sorry if you are having regrets about what happened between us. However I cannot honestly say that I have spent one second in regret. If you are wondering where I am going, I have taken Aragorn and Arwen to my small cabin in the Misty Mountains. I know what you are thinking, and no, I will not take you with me. And stop thinking you will just follow me if I won't take you, because you can't.' Andraya laughed at how well Legolas knew her and how he always seemed to know what she was thinking. 'Well, perhaps we will meet again some day, but until then, goodbye My Love, and best wishes.

Legolas'

Andraya folded the note, hugged her mother and bolted off towards her room. When she got there she called her maid.

"Yes milady?" the maid said.

"I need a squire's garb, Felice. In my size please."

"But why, milady?"

"Don't ask questions, just get it. And Felice, you must swear not to tell anyone of who you are getting it for."

"Of course, milady-"

"Swear it Felice!"

"I swear milady."

"Thank you. You are dismissed."

The maid left and returned a few moments later with the clothing. She handed them to Andraya and then exited the room.

Andraya changed quickly, tying her breasts so they weren't so noticeable and putting on a cloak to hide her feminine curves, or at least, whatever was showing of them. She looked at herself in the mirror and decided her long hair would never fit under a cap. She pulled out the short sword that Legolas had given her, (which was identical to Frodo's except it had a romantic engraving written in elvish), and cut her hair until it only reached the middle of her back before stuffing it under the squire's cap. She decided she was ready and headed out after Legolas.

As she entered the group of soldiers that were escorting Legolas, she realized that this charade would be harder to pull off than she thought. To sleep, eat, and bathe among all these great, burly men-twice the size of her or more!-would be difficult, (not to mention mentally scarring!)

"Although," she mused aloud, "the way these men smell, I'd be surprised to find any of them even know what a bath is."

"What was that…Squire?" one of the bigger, and smellier, men said, scowling at her, "Think we stink do ya? Think yer too good fer us?"

"Uh…" Andraya was at a loss for words.

"Now, now, Brutus, leave the lad alone," a young blonde elf said, patting the much larger man's shoulder, "Now then, you must be new to the group. What'd your name be?"

"Uh… well, it's-um, Bryce. Yes, my name is Bryce," Andraya said, uncomfortably.

"Well Bryce, welcome to our happy family! I'm Elengar," he said.

"This is happy?" Andraya said, looking about her at the group of grumbling men, "Wow, I'd hate to see them angry or depressed."

At this Elengar began to laugh. "Aye, well you've some attitude, haven't ye?" he said, walking towards the front of the crowd.

Andraya blinked, then shrugged, and began to walk after him. These men seemed nice enough but ,she knew some were not so nice. She could feel malice weighing down the air around them. She realized somebody was talking to her and snapped quickly out of her trance.

Her eyes came back into focus and she found herself staring into a pair lightning blue eyes. Her heart jumped into her throat. She recognized those eyes! Legolas! Her heart longed for him to look at her with the love he had before. But, she reminded herself, He thinks I'm just a little squire.

"I said, you're new here? Where did you come from?" Legolas asked her.

"Um, my previous Master was a violent man, so I thought I could go with you and your men…please?" she said.

"Well, we already have two…..er…helpers. They're brothers. One is about your age, and the other is his younger brother. I suppose they could use a little help. They are over there with Aragorn and Arwen." Legolas pointed over to two boys. Mortal boys.

She smiled at him and walked over to the two. He reminds me of someone, Legolas thought. I'll have to keep an eye on him.

"Hi!" she said as she approached her new companions. "My name is Bryce, and I'm to stay in your charge."

"Really?" the older boy said, "I'm Adam and this is Jack. So you're in our charge, eh?" He smirked and looked at Jack.

Andraya didn't notice. Arwen was looking at her strangely…..like she knew who "Bryce" really was. It made Andraya extremely nervous. She would have to watch herself around Arwen.

They continued trudging through the densely forested area, their spirits none the brighter. Except perhaps Andraya's. (^_^)

Four days later, their moods worse than ever, somebody finally suggested making camp. Legolas looked at his men and, with his continuously oblivious smile, agreed. They set up camp in a large clearing near a group of hot springs. (How bloody convenient for them eh?)

"Hey Bryce!" Adam yelled. "Come on!"

Andraya ran after him. "Where are we going?" she yelled as she passed him.

"To the baths, of course! Part of our duties is to help with the baths." Adam told her.

"The- the baths?" Andraya stuttered. Sure, she had already been with Legolas in a state of nudeness………but even then it was dark out. This was midday, when the sun was at it's brightest. She blushed crimson.

As they walked into the bathing area Andraya kept her eyes firmly on the ground. She made sure her eyes didn't wander, concentrating fully. She fell back from Adam and leaned against a tree. Thankfully nobody asked for her assistance, so she had no reason to go around any men. However, when all of the men were leaving and getting dressed, somebody touched her shoulder. She looked up to see Legolas, shirtless, blonde hair sticking to his face, in all his splendid glory. (Author sighs)

"What's the matter? You look kind of pale," Legolas smiled.

"I-uh-well………….." Andraya blushed and lowered her eyes again.

Legolas chuckled and began walking away, making Andraya feel entirely foolish. She sank down onto the ground and groaned in disgust. She had acted like an absolute idiot! As though she was a giddy love struck fool-like she was meeting him for the first time.

"Hey, Bryce!" Adam called, "Are you comin' or not?"

Andraya looked up to find him in a state of undress. She blinked and looked back toward the ground. "Uh, n-no. I think I'll decline."

"Feh. Suit yourself," said Adam as he entered the water.

Next time we stop, and everyone trusts me, I'll bathe. After everybody is asleep. she thought. I just hope that's soon. I don't know how much longer I can go without a bath!!!
