Fan Fiction ❯ Legolas ❯ Legolas and the New Girl ( Chapter 1 )
Lord of the Rings; Legolas' new love.
A/N: Read and review. Lemon scene will be coming in the second or third chapter.
A young girl sat alone at the edge of a large forest on the verge of tears. She had been lost for but a few days short of a fortnight. Her provisions had run out, and she had let her horse go, for it was weary, and would come when called.
As her hopes of rescue faltered, she looked to the canopy of the forest and said in the elvish tongue, "Please, let someone come for me. Let anyone come. Please." As one single tear slipped down her face, she rested her forehead in her hands, trying to calm herself down.
She had lost almost all hope for returning to her home when a shadow fell upon her. Her head shot up to see a cloaked person standing over her.
"Who are you?" she demanded, "What to you want of me?" She did not trust the hooded man, at all.
"You needn't fear me. I'm as harmless as a newborn lamb. Never would I lay so much as a finger on a lady, beautiful as you may be," a man's sultry voice said, as the man bowed low. He straightened and removed his hood to reveal dazzling blue eyes, white blonde hair, and a smile that could melt your heart. "My name is Legolas Greenleaf, of Mirkwood, son of Thranduil, king of Mirkwood. And who might you be, fair lady?"
She smiled back at him. "I am Andraya, daughter of Amelia and Orland, of Rivendell. Pleased to meet you, Legolas," she stood up and held out her hand for him to shake.
Instead he picked up her hand and touched it to his lips. Andraya gasped and pulled her hand away.
"What is it? What frightens you so?" Legolas asked worriedly.
"Y-you kissed my hand. No man has ever touched me, with lips or hands, save for a friendly handshake or congratulatory pat on the back," she replied in shock.
"I do not see why this would frighten you so. For is it not a custom in Rivendell to kiss a fair maid's hand when she presents it?" he said smiling.
Andraya opened her mouth like she had something to say, and then shut it with a snap. She continued doing so in rapid succession until she looked similar to a fish. Legolas chuckled at the thought.
"And just what, pray tell, is so funny?" Andraya asked.
"Nothing, never mind that. Would you like to see one of my favorite places in all of Mirkwood?" Legolas asked her. She nodded excitedly. "Then come, and I will show you."
He led her out of the forest to look upon the most beautiful of landscapes. She looked over it, savoring in the purity of it. Legolas watched her expression change from confusion to wonder and excitement in a mere millisecond.
The grass swayed in the wind, seeming to be speaking with it. The very trees seemed to whisper to her, and the birds twittered, as though with excitement at the strange new visitor.
Legolas leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "Do you hear them?" She shot him a puzzled look. "The voices. Do you hear them also? The whisperings of the wind, the grass, and the trees? The songs of the birds? They speak of long ago times, and times in the not-so-distant past. They speak of the tale of the Dark Lord. The time when Sauron almost prevailed. When the Ring was cast into Mount Doom, with the creature Gollum. I was there you know. I was there in the final battle between good and evil. I was one of the fellowship who stayed beside Aragorn and Gimli. Would you like to know of what happened to my comrades after the fall of the Dark Lord Sauron?"
"Yes, very much so," she said anxiously.
"Then come, and let us find a comfortable place to sit and I will tell you all," he said running forward.
Andraya followed him quickly. 'How do I know he's not lying?' she asked herself. A voice in her head answered, 'Stupid! How could you think he is? It shows in his eyes, as with all elves!' 'But…. But…he might be-' 'Might be what? Lying? Didn't you go through this already? You know he's telling the truth! Now drop it.' >>A/N; a rather Gollumy part but… hey! <<
She dropped the argument, (one sided as it was), and settled for watching Legolas bound gracefully ahead of her, his hair almost glowing in the warm sunlight. He halted at the lakeside and lowered himself onto the soft mossy ground, motioning for her to sit beside him. She walked forward, almost cautiously, and sat down where he had motioned.
"Ask me something," he said casually.
"What happened to- oh what's his name- Ah! Aragorn!- What happened to him?" Andraya asked.
"Well, he and Arwen married, and are expecting their second child in a few months. They are ruling quite happily, and quite successfully," he answered, smiling in happiness for his friend.
"And Frodo? What happened to him? And Sam? And Merry and Pippin? And Gimli? And Gandalf? What happened to him?" she asked, sounding rather like Pippin.
"Slow down!" Legolas laughed, "Frodo is living as happily as can be expected. Sam is still married to Rose and still mayor. Merry and Pippin are, of course, living quite happily, and are still friends with Frodo and Sam. Gimli is… well… he just hasn't changed," he paused and looked thoughtful, then continued, "Gandalf, I believe, still visits Frodo in the Shire."
Andraya looked at Legolas, and got an idea. "And what happened to Legolas?"
He turned to her and smiled brightly. "Well, he is ruling happily with his father, and is meeting Aragorn, Gimli, Arwen and the rest of the fellowship in Rivendell for a peace conference, at the request of Lord Elrond. Perhaps he might escort you there. If it would please you?"
"It would please me much. And perhaps you would ask him for me?" They laughed at their antics.
Andraya sighed happily. She had never been so content to stay in one place before. She laid back and listened to the whisperings of the wind. Legolas glanced at her out of the corner of her eye. She had a look of great peace on her face. However, it changed to a look of great unrest.
She propped herself up on her elbows and turned to him. "There is something that I wish to tell you," Legolas looked at her curiously. "My mother, Amelia, is Arwen's sister, Elrond's second daughter. You see, I already knew of Aragorn and my aunt's marriage. They invite me to stay with them all the time. But the only way I am allowed to leave is if I have several escorts. However, I am not as dimwitted as my family thinks, and I escape them easily."
"So you shall be at the counsel also?" Legolas asked, trying to sound casual.
"If I request it, I can be," she replied.
"Then by all means request it! I- I would like to see you reunited with- um, Arwen," he took her hand in his, gazing into her eyes, "And I would like to spend more time with you."
She found herself so mesmerized by his lightning blue eyes that she could neither speak nor move. She found her voice and said, "Of course. I shall request." It was no more than a whisper, but their faces were so very close that he could hear. He smiled tenderly.
He turned his head and let out a low whistle. She turned just in time to see a white horse come galloping out of the forest. She turned to him and gave him a puzzled look.
"We are leaving now, for Rivendell," he said mounting, "Have you a ride?"
She smiled and whistled a sweet bird's song. "My horse, Firefly, will carry me," she replied, mounting the chestnut horse that had come to stand before her.
They rode swiftly to Rivendell, stopping in Beorn for rest and to restock their provisions. They continued at dawn, riding towards their next stop in Carrock, where they would meet the riders from Mirkwood. Legolas told them to ride ahead to Rivendell and tell Elrond that he was coming with his daughter. They obeyed. They rode again the next day, not stopping until they reached the Misty Mountains, where they had to stop, for it was night when they crossed. The following day, however, they rode on, not stopping until they reached their destination, and entered the glorious territory of Rivendell.
