Fan Fiction ❯ Lieffe and Dath ❯ Beginning of the End ( Chapter 1 )
<A/N: This is a fan fiction, so I can do whatever I want. So let my inform you of my wants. I broke away from every Zelda storyline ever created. I made Sheik his own separate character. I made up new characters/objects/items/places/words and just about anything else I, quite frankly, felt like. (I'd make up music too, but…) And now that you are probably thoroughly confused, on with MY story.>
Dath approaches. I feel it in my bones. He's coming again. Goddesses help us all.
"My sister. Do you feel it? Can you feel him coming?" I telepathically asked the young woman beside me.
"Yes. Yes. I know this presence. But why? What does he want? He can't take Lieffe away from us!"
"But he will try. Success, however…"
"No. He can't. We've made it this long. Lieffe is ours forever."
"Dath knows no rules, sister."
"But…"
I broke off my connection to my sister. She was just sitting beside me, but we were in deep meditation. I pulled out, as I felt her do the same, and looked her in the eyes.
"He is coming. And this time, I fear he will win."
Reepe, my sister, turned away from me, sighing.
"Soowe…" a tear came to her eye, "How can this happen?"
"I don't know. Lieffe has been ours for so long, but Dath comes again to take it away," I breathed softly.
"But he cannot. It belongs to us. We are the keepers, and we must watch over it, or our time is over," she said, her voice quavering.
"Reepe, get a hold of yourself. We knew this would happen," I said, standing and turning my back to her.
"But so soon?" She stood as well, and came a few steps closer to me.
"Soon? Reepe, it has been nearly four hundred years since we became the eternal keepers of Lieffe-"
"That's right. Eternal," Reepe dropped the educated façade. "Look it up, sister. It means FOREVER."
I turned around, lowering my head.
"Listen to me. I know what we are named. I know what it means. But it does not just mean us. We have to pass this on to some one worthy of keeping Lieffe."
"You mean…Give it over to…to him? Before Dath comes?" Reepe's jaw dropped.
"Yes. Another Sheikah must take our place. You know him. You know where to find him. Now go. Get Sheik and tell him the news."
"Soowe, you're sure about this?"
"GO."

"No, no, Link. Forget about steadying the sword. That comes naturally…Especially for someone like you…"
Sheik sat on the ground and watched Link, as he tried to teach Link a new sword technique.
"Sheik, it just doesn't feel right. I feel wobbly," Link said, dropping his arms to his side, the tip of the Master Sword embedding itself into the ground.
Sheik put his hands on his face and pulled them down slowly.
"You're making this harder than it has to be."
"I'm sorry…"
The Sheikah removed his turban and ran his fingers through his ear-length mop of blonde hair.
"It's…" he sighed," okay. You just need some work…"
Sheik laid back on the grass and put his hands behind his head. It was nearly evening in Hyrule Field, and the orange sun was sinking slowly across the sky…But what was that?
A small black object was moving slowly along the horizon. Sheik sat back up and spun around, squinting his eyes.
Link apparently saw it, too, and stood beside Sheik, peering into the distance.
The object seemed to move toward them at a quickening pace, and soon it was clear that the shape was the figure of a person, and it moved swiftly and light on it's feet.
A noise.
Sheik turned his ear toward it, and tuned his Sheikan hearing on the sound.
"SHEIK!"
"Reepe…?" Sheik recognized the voice. It was of a friend…And an important person to the Sheikah - and all of Hyrule, for that matter. She was one of the eternal keepers of Lieffe, along with her sister, Soowe. The two were totally different in appearance, Reepe with her straight, short red hair, tall, lanky body and green eyes, and Soowe with long, curly dark hair, blue eyes and short stature. Hard to believe they were sisters.
And Reepe sounded worried…
"Sheik…calling Sheik…" Link's voice came through his concentration. "Who is that?"
"You'll know her when you see her. And put your sword away," Sheik said. He stood up, dusted himself off, and held his turban in his hand. This was Sheik. Intelligent, poised, prepared, and ever-mannered.
Reepe approached quickly and soon she was but a few feet <A/N: Meters? Cubits? What do they use in Hyrule?> away.
"Sheik! I have something I need to tell you…" she sucked in a deep breath.
Link took off his Kokiri cap, letting his long blonde hair fall behind him, and bowed his head respectably.
"Reepe, what is it?" Sheik said shaking her hand.
"I…It's just…Soowe…She said…Well…"
Sheik raised his eyebrows, moving her on with his hand.
Reepe bit her lip and glanced at Link. Sheik nodded.
"Soowe says we need a new keeper," Reepe blurted out, throwing her hands at her side.
"WHAT?"
"Maybe you'd better come with me…"

Reepe, Soowe, and Sheik all sat around a small, circular, wooden table, legs crossed, three steaming cups of tea before them.
"So tell me," Sheik said, looking back and forth from Reepe to Soowe, "why?"
"Dath is coming for us," Soowe said somberly. She nervously traced the top of her teacup with her finger, going round and round, just skimming the hot liquid.
"Dath? Please, don't tell me, Soowe…"
Just then, a tiny black and white creature bounded into the room, `meeped' at Soowe, jumped up on her shoulders, and lay there like a mink wrap, licking the tips of her long bangs. Soowe petted it's teeny head.
"What is that?" Sheik asked.
"That's Soowe's new feline fetish…Dumb cat," Reepe remarked.
Soowe clicked her tongue and retorted, "His name is Angel and he's my new kitty. Reepe's just mad because he only likes me."
Reepe mocked her silently, crinkling her nose and moving her lips.
Angel jumped down from Soowe's shoulder and onto the table, sniffing her cup. He dipped his tongue in the tea to taste it, decided he liked it, and began to lap up the liquid furiously.
"And she'll DRINK from that AFTER her cat!" Reepe said, pointing at the tiny kitten drinking from Soowe's cup.
Sheik smiled.
"He's so precious," Soowe said, twirling her finger around his spindly tail.
Sheik shook his head smacked a hand against his face.
"DATH?"
Soowe put her elbows on the table and hid her face in her palms.
"Yes, Dath…"
"But I don't think it can be…I mean, he hasn't bothered us for nearly four hundred years! Why would he be coming back now? He can't take Lie-"
Soowe slammed her hands on the table, scaring Angel. She shouted, "YES, REEPE, HE CAN!"
She stood up quickly and ran out of the room, running into her bedroom. She slammed the door behind her.
<A/N: So what did you think so far? If there are any typos, it's because of one thing. My kitty, Angel (gee…), was sleeping on my arm. He does that. He also has a fondness for clawing my neck and laying on my kneecaps…And hanging up the phone, and typing when I am, and eating my food and he's timid. But that's okay, because he's my kitty. Oh, right. Story. So…any suggestions?>
