Limitless as the Sky
Summary: Sky, what a name. To live up to it would be quite a task; after all, the sky is one of the only things in this world that is truly limitless. Or is it? SoxKai OCxOC (limitless rewrite)
Disclaimer: -Looks around- I don't think anyone who is here owns Kingdom Hearts. That would be including me; that is for sure. I'm just a very bored girl looking for something to write about. I doubt that anyone reads this fic, much less lawyers coming after me about it.

Chapter 1. So Long, Sucker!
Sky was her name. Eighteen was her age. She wore crimson hair to her shoulder blades; one of the only traits she had received from her mother. Her crystal blue eyes and occasional over optimism she had picked up from her father. She wore a plain black t-shirt that fit somewhat tightly on her, and blue jeans that were worn in the leg and seat from nothing but normal wear and tear. Along with her jeans, she wore a leather belt. On both hands, she wore fingerless gloves that also happened to be leather. On her feet were black tennis shoes with one white stripe across the toe line. Sora and Kairi were her parents. They were said to be kind. They were said to be a beautiful couple. She would have probably just loved being raised by them.
Probably, if she would have ever gotten the chance.
The painful truth was that the heartless had killed them ten years ago. She was living at the paradise of the island when that had happened. The teenager was now living at Traverse Town by her lonesome; she had ended up there after the heartless attack on the island. She was currently making munny by doing odd jobs and killing the heartless that dared to show up around the town. Speaking of which, they were becoming stronger and stronger it would seem. Even so, it wasn't a cause for much concern to her. She simply looked at is as a way of slowly getting stronger herself.
Traverse Town; the only world were a sun never shown. The only source of light came from the contently shining stars and the dim street lamps that lined the town walls about every yard or so. The decently sized town had three districts; each named by number. The first district was composed of mostly the well known shops: the item shop and the accessory shop. The second was mostly made up of the lesser known shops. The third was often called the housing district. If people lived in Traverse Town; more then likely, lived there.
An example of an odd job Sky would do just happened to be something she was working on now; finishing up a favor for a person named Dart. He was the son of Leon and Yuffie. He wore his father's dark brown hair to his shoulders. Actually, that trait happened to belong to both of his parents. He also had his mother's light blue eyes. His parents, like hers, had died due to a heartless attack. That was also ten years ago. How painful those memories were to both of them.
Sky walked the quiet streets of the second district. She was currently making her way to the first district to see Dart about her payment. Payment; it was sure a nice and rare word to the teen. She loved the thought of having enough to buy the sword she'd been saving up for. She fumbled the munny in her front pants pocket she had collected from the heartless she had killed over the course of the day with her right hand. She had added it up to be about fifty munny. That was a lot more then she had gotten from heartless kills in quite some time.
A sudden scream disrupted her thoughts. She rolled her eyes. The people here should be ready for a heartless by now, don't you think? She took her hand out of her pocket and ran quickly past the few people that were on the streets due to the disturbance. The scream had clearly come from near the exit to the first district. She observed from the small crowd that was around the attack before she went in; after all, she needed to know what she was up against. As she gazed, she saw a heartless she had neither fought nor seen before. It looked quit a bit stronger then any of the heartless then she had dealt with before; it also had armor. She watched its fighting style as it took the heart of an innocent woman. The victim looked to be about thirty.
Now, Sky noticed, was the perfect time to take action.
Sky put her hand on sword that was put conveniently in its holster that was attached to her belt. Her sword's blade was flimsily; made of nothing but stainless steal. The hilt was just as pathetic; made of pure metal and ultimately weighting down the sword. The sword was, as you might imagine, very plain, but it was the only weapon she could afford at the time. She had learned to fight just as well with an expensive sword as she could with a cheap one. She liked the expensive ones better, but you can't cry over spilt milk.
She stepped forward from the crowd and took a moment to give the heartless an angry look. A few people around her that made up part of the crowd looked at her as if she was completely insane. Sky didn't have time or patience to deal with the spectators at the moment. With her right hand she took her sword out of its hilt. She then took her fighting stance; putting her feet together and holding her sword outward with the same hand had she had retrieved it with.
The heartless looked up from its last victim and gave an emotionless smile at its potential new one. Sky then, as fast as she was able, ran at the heartless with her sword facing outward; placed it against the palm of her left hand and being held with her right.
The heartless responded by jumping out the attack's path. Sky managed to turn around and regain any balance she may have lost by doing so. By now, the audience was routing for Sky. The teen tried her best not to lose her concentration; ignoring the crowd. It was clear to her by now that this heartless was stronger then the normal shadow type. She was not afraid, mind you, just knowing of her enemy.
The heartless took to the next attack rather quickly; jumping at Sky with breakneck speed. If fact, she almost couldn't doge its attack in time. After managing to do so, she took that opportunity to catch the creature off guard when it finished its futile try at her life and attacked it the same way she had before. It was a direct hit, or might have been if the heartless hadn't moved just the little it had in attempt to doge Sky's attack. Today was surely Sky's day.
“So long, sucker!” Sky smirked as those words escaped her lips. At the same time, she was looking the heartless mockingly in its yellow eyes. She had managed to defeat it with a jab to its upper stomach. The heartless, after which, slowly disappeared the way all heartless did when their life was ended. She sighed and put her sword in its holster. She looked down and found ten munny the heartless had dropped. The crowd that once was gazing at Sky dispersed as she picked up the munny. After doing so, she walked the few feet to the second district's exit to the first.
As she took her first few steps in the first district, she saw Dart waiting for her; standing just a few feet away from the entrance to the second floor in the accessory shop. He was wearing, Sky noticed, a brown shirt with blue jeans, and fingerless leather gloves over his fingers. He also wore his normal look of annoyance toward Sky. He was always annoyed at her for some strange reason. What was this time? Sky had a feeling she would soon find the answer. She walked over to where Dart was, putting to munny she had picked up in her pocket.
“I see you managed to kill yet another heartless,” Dart said in his gruff voice; gazing at Sky.
“So,” Sky gazed back at Dart. Why would he be mad at her for that? Wasn't that supposed to be a good thing?
“You didn't see the star go out last night, did you?” It became apparent to Sky that Dart wasn't annoyed at her; the heartless was the cause of his annoyance. She was somewhat relieved.
Sky's wide-eyed expression showed her true surprise. She had always thought the heartless she killed in town were just supposed to be the ones leftover from the heartless attacks so many years ago. This meant there was a new heartless leader. Not to mention, the everyday heartless around town would be getting a lot stronger; the new heartless she meet up with was probably only the beginning. And, of course, there was a need for a new keyblade wilder. Sky hadn't nearly forgotten that she was the best for the job since her father just happened to be the wielder.
“No, I didn't,” Sky's voice was filled with worry. She hadn't meant it to be so; her words just came out the way they had. To tell the truth, she wasn't the best person when it came to hiding her emotions.
Dart looked at her was scolding blue eyes, “The new type of heartless running around town is called a solider. You know as well as I do about the legend of the keyblade,” He paused for a moment, “You also know you're the next in line to get it, too. Quit playing dumb, would you?”
She knew that having the keyblade was a rare high privilege. In fact, the only reason she didn't want it was because of the responsibility that happened to come with it; having to lock all the worlds, save all the people from the heartless, and kill the heartless general behind it all. She couldn't amount to much more then a second-rate sword wilder and she knew it. That's why she didn't care for the job.
“Here,” Dart began to pull at the right pants pocket in the front of his jeans with his right hand. “Take the munny and scram,” His voice was about as cold as the statement he had made. But, Sky noticed, he had changed the subject. That was something he had always done whenever he felt badly about the subject in question, or he was simply getting bored.
Sky watched as Dart pulled what appeared to be about 50 munny from his pocket with his right hand and dropped it in her right hand. This was the beginning of her adventure, she figured. She was going to go buy a much better sword and go train by herself. With any luck, she'll actually be strong enough to wield the keyblade. Sky smiled as she found herself walking away from Dart. Quickly, she made her way to the front of the item shop. Even if she was physically able to get the sword, this was going to be a long day for her.
To bad she knew so little about how much her parent's past would actually affect her. Before her journey began, she was going to run into somebody her parents had known quite well.
