What do you think of when you hear the word "stitches?" An accident with your bike? A horrible dog bite? Doctors? Well our story tonight is a little like that. You see, there was this old lady, crazy as a loon, but loving none the less. She was the type of old lady who had a dozen cats and lived alone. When ever a cat would die, like the caring person she was, she would bury them in the garden with a little headstone and everything. Well one day her favorite cat of all, a little gray one, was struck by a car. It was suffering very badly and was mangled. Also, other that being loony, she practiced magic. She thought it would be worth a try to save her poor kitty. She loved this cat more than any other.
She went out into her garden and took bits of skin from the cats that haven't decayed and bits of cloth, needles thread and enchanted them all. The cat's upper half was torn so badly that she enchanted an old little brown shirt of one of her grandchildren and sewed it directly onto the cat, who was in a deep, deep, coma. She patched up the holes with cloth and cat skin, she sewed the scars and tears shut with needle and thread. The old lady decided "what's the use of insides?"...she got rid of them. If her beloved cat was going to be made of cloth and other cats, it wouldn't be able to live. She found one of her old knickknacks, a glass heart that could fit in you palm, and cast a spel upon itl.
"May this be your source of love and feeling, little cat, protect it and keep it with you. As long as it's inside, you will feel love, hate. sadness and happiness, and don't break it. If it is destroyed, you will cease to be." with these words it began to have a faint red glow inside it, she placed the little glass heart into the cat's chest and sewed it shut. She took some more of her things. This time she found a spool of thread, some cat hair, human hair, a tooth, a page from an old literature book, a page from a book of manors, and a small ring. The ring had the eternity symbol on it. She wrapped this things very tightly in a bundle of cloth. It could fit easily in your palm too.
"These, little cat, are your thoughts. You will know to sew, to be polite and read. You will speak the language of cat and human. You will know to fight and will have common sense. Keep these things safe, and you will live forever" With this she placed the tiny bundle into the cat's head and sewed it shut. She found some orange fur from one of her long haired cats. She sewed it on top to make some hair. After that, the cat was done. He looked bad but soon opened his eyes, startled at not being on the side of the road. He slowly rose up to a sitting position.
"Little cat, how to you feel?" asked the old lady. The cat was at a loss for words. He had never understood what she said before this.
"Confused, Ma'am. I'm very confused." his voice sounded middle aged. "Where did the car go?" he asked, standing up on the table. The old lady explained. They lived together for many years afterward. She taught him to walk up right. She showed him the right way to make stitches, incase hi might have to sew himself back up. One day as they were on the porch, watching the sun set.
"Little, cat...are you happy with me?" she asked.
"Oh, yes." he replied. "But there is one thing I have always longed for."
"What's that?" asked the old lady.
"A name. I have so longed for a name." replied the cat.
"What would you like it to be?: asked the old lady.
"Stitch Cat. Your Little Stitch Cat. Stitch for short." he replied. The old lady smiled.
"So be it." she replied. They continued sitting on the porch. That was the beginning of Stitch Cat.
