Fan Fiction ❯ Lost Hope ❯ Lost Hope ( Chapter 1 )
Note: This takes place shortly before Sirius breaks out of Azkaban.
Lost hope
Azkaban. Alone. Friendless. Because of someone elseÕs betrayal.
The situation he was in reminded Sirius slightly of a song he had once heard. Unbidden, it came to his mind.
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
So long in Azkaban drove most people mad. Even if they were innocent. As he was.
Where once was love
Love is no more
Sirius was not insane. But he held more anger than one person should.
DonÕt say goodbye
DonÕt say I didnÕt try
He had convinced James and Lily to make Peter their Secret-Keeper in a last desperate bid for his friendsÕ lives. Instead, Peter had betrayed them. They were dead. Harry, their son, was an orphan. And Sirius was in Azkaban.
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame
Peter had lied to all of them. Sirius, James, Lily, Remus...
And we will weep
To be so alone
He was alone. Even if he did get out of Azkaban, if he did escape, he would never be accepted by any of his former friends.
We are lost
We can never go home
ÔHomeÕ for Sirius was not his family home, but wherever his friends were. It was definitely not Azkaban, at any rate.
So in the end
IÕll be what I will be
What was that for Sirius? An outcast?
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
That, at least, did not apply to Sirius.
Sirius had finally gotten out. And had finally gotten to Peter. They were in the Shrieking Shack now, Sirius, Peter, Remus, Harry, and Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, HarryÕs best friends. He had explained everything. And they had believed him. Peter had been RonÕs pet, and when Sirius and Remus had cast the spell to force him to become human again, there was Peter, cringing on the floor.
Now we say goodbye
We say you didnÕt try
Finally. He had finally found Peter.
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Peter was crying. Not with remorse, though, with fear. He was scared? Good. Serve him right, the traitor.
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame
Peter could apologize all he wanted. The damage was done. And irreversable.
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
Harry had not let Remus and Sirius kill Peter. And Voldemort had risen. But Sirius was sure of one thing. When the end came, Peter would be the one friendless. For Sirius had friends again, for the first time in many years. His name was not cleared, but that was a minor disadvantage. He had friends. And that was quite enough for him.
Based on GollumÕs Song
Composed by Howard Shore for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Sung by Emiliana Torrini
AuthorÕs Note: Yes, I know this song wasnÕt around when the songfic takes place, but who really cares? ^_~ This is my 2 nd Sirius songfic, and quite a bit darker than the other one.
