Luthiën

Luthiën grew up not to far from the mountains of Acropolis. She used to look up to them while playing in the forest and always feel safe knowing that the mountains watched over her. Luthiën´s father( Dolomir) was a man full of life and with a great sense of humour that seemed to brighten every day. Luthiën´s mother was one of the great mystery´s in Luthiën´s life. Never had her father talked about her mother and on the few occasions Luthiën dared to bring the subject up her father would quit her and forbid her to speak about it any further. Not having a mother was perhaps the greatest influence on Luthiën´s life. She could hang out with all the boys in her town and get all dirty without a mother to call her back. Her father wished she would behave more femine, but seemed unable to bring himself to stop the fun she was having. Luthiën seemed to fit right in with the guys and never really bothered playing with more feminine creatures of her village. As she grew older Luthiën got more and more determined that she could never get married and sit at home as the other girls did. Not possessing any magical powers she knew she would have to join the fighting forces to avoid someone asking for her hand. Luhtiën took her belongings and said goodbye to her father and set out for a cause she was willing to fight for. She walked a great deal untill she finally found a monestary located on the slopes of Acropolis. She asked to be granted to fight for them and keep them safe, but they turned her down because they did not see it fit to appoint a woman at a monestary. Enraged Luthiën had to walk on and had to survive the cold nights on Acropolis. She learned a lot from her quest for a fighting home and before long she was fully equipped and could make fires, catch and cook dinner and set traps. None of these skills where perfected and most of them only worked 50% of the time, but it got her through the rough nights none the less. It took 3 months before another opportunity arose for the 17 year old Luthiën. She was saved from an ambush by a knight of the king Grendruig. She told him her story and he offered her a possition as his shield barrer. She learned a lot from the knight who later turned out to be none other then the kings son ( Gwendal). Reparing his armor and preparing his food when they were questing she learned all there was to know about being a woman of the sword. Gwendal and Luthiën seemed to be able to handle any disturbance that threathened peace throughout the kingdom. Luthiën and Gwendal eventually fell in love and got married. Luthiën gave birth to two beautifull children, a boy and a girl named Ellsareth and Undomiël. Not being able to care for the children and continue her profession Luthiën trusted the children to their grandparents. The king and queen of Glemfall, Grendruig and Elsbeth. She and Gwendal continued to protect the lands untill Gwendall got killed in an ambush laid by monks unhappy with the diminishing influence their faith held on the people of Glemfall. Grief strucken Luthiën went into a blind rage and killed the enire cleregy save for three of the culprits who got away. Not caring wheter she lived or died Luthiën sought out the grandmaster of het monks and killed him after making sure he felt every bitof pain her dear Gwendal had to go through. Collapsing in the charred ruins she had a vision. A tall and slender woman with pitchblack eyes and silvery hair. Little horns adorned her head and a crown made of leaves rested on it. The somehow enchanting woman explained she was Luthiën´s mother. Long ago she (Melanchia) had met Luthiën´s father when he was walking through her forests, She had seduced him and they spend many a night together. After conceiving a child Melanchia banished Dolomir from her forests and gave birth to Luthiën. Not being able to raise a half-human child Melanchia told Luthiën how she had left her with Dolomir. Luthiën noticed she could not shout and could not cry and remained silent. As Melanchia spoke again she told of how Luthiën was born, stronger then any human child could have ever been, fearing that Dolomir would not be able to handle a child mastering him in strenght Melanchia told Luthiën how she had removed her strenght and more. Luthiën could now speak and begged for her strenght back so she could avenge Gwendal. Melanchia granted this after warning Luthiën that strenght is never all that is given. Feeling a power as never before surging through her vains Luthiën fell donw when accompanied by excruciating pains two minature versions of her mothers horns grew out of her skull. Melanchia said goodbye to Luthiën and Luthien fell to the ground unconsious. Waking up Luthiën noticed her sight, hearing and smell had improved aswell as her touch sense. Covering her little horns with her hair she ventured back to the castle. Upon arrival she quickly reported to Grendruig and Elsbeth about what happened. No sooner had Luthiën told about her encounter when Luthiën´s daughter Undomiël was summoned. Luthiën was not surprised to see that her little daughter had now two little bumps on each side of her head, horns staying below the skin. Grendruig told her Ellsareth had become stronger just as his little sister but seemed to be deprived of horns. Luthiën thanked Melanchia for her gift and asked her to watch over Ellsareth and Undomiël. She asked Grendruig and Elsbeth to take care when she had to take care of unfinished buisness and slay the murderer of Gwendal who had gotten away. Setting out on her quest Melanchia appeared once more and gave her child a precious gift, a bag in which she could store everything yet would never get full, a bag of holding. Promising to take care of her own grandchildren Melanchia left leaving Luthiën to her destiny. Luthiën thought a great deal about what to do next and dicided to seek out some of the boys she used to hang out with when she was still young. Finding them she joined their party of adventurers after they made a promise to help her seek out the murders of Gwendall.
