Three long years have passed since that day when I left him back in that game. No one knew who he was or what arcade he played the ` Quest for the Sacred Crystal' in. I sighed as I looked out of my small dorm window. Letters blared the screen of my laptop as I saw the snow in front of me trickle down the windowpane with my reflection staring vacantly back at me. How I have missed him. He was my only friend left, if he remembered all these years.

I looked boringly back at my thesis paper. What is Hope? How the hell am I supposed to know? These teachers today, they ask us these dumb questions like "why are we alive?" I'd like to say to purposely to annoy teachers, but that would earn me an F. I hate College.

I heard the door slam across the hall, followed by the screaming of my best friend at the University, Katherine. She came from California, not too long ago and was accepted to Oberlin University along with me. It sounded like there were elephants stampeding the hallway, but I knew it was her and that no good of a boyfriend once again. Poor Katherine. I pushed the chair away from my desk and opened the door to hear what they were fighting about this time. Of course, it was the dumbest argument since Rhys and I argued about what we should of eaten for lunch. Tears formed in my eyes but I willed them not to fall. I'm stronger than that now. I have to wait for Rhys to come. He never breaks his promises.

" I already told you tons of times before, idiot! I'm sick of you and your stupid job!" I saw Katherine hold a suitcase and her coat in her hands as she continued to walk toward the elevator. Of course, the guy didn't know when to give up, so he ran to up to her. I heard a very hard and painful slap before seeing him on the floor unconscious. If this had been more of a humorous argument, I would have imagined that being Rhys and me. But I could tell that Katherine had had enough of this jerk. He's been cheating on her for about a year, but when I told her what he was doing, she denied he would ever do that to her. I felt bad for her. I heard the door to the bathroom open slightly as my roommate approached me from behind and looked around me to see the fight.

" I have bets on Katherine, she has quite a punch," Sakura said jokingly as she dried her hair with a towel and went to sit on the couch. I sighed and smiled before walking and sitting on the piano stool and ran my hands over the hard but smooth surface. Sakura walked up behind me and put a hand on my shoulder, her eyes glistening.

" Come on, Christina. Don't be so quiet! Play some Christmas music for this holiday season. There's only a week till Christmas!" She grinned and looked around the room.

" I hope you didn't forget to shop for presents, yet!" I shook my head and got off the bench to get my coat. " You're just gonna have to wait, Sakura. I'm going while you're at work!" She groaned and went back into the bathroom. " Have a good time!"

I shook my head and grabbed my coat, purse, and keys as I headed out the door. I walked down the hallway, over the body of Katherine's victim, and out to my car. Surprisingly, I saw Katherine right next to it, crying.

"He was no good, Kath," I smiled and held my hand out. " How bout we go shopping at the mall and out to lunch, my treat!" I saw her grin as she hugged me gently. " Thank you..." I helped her up and we both got into the car. After I put the heater on and some loud music, we zoomed to our destination.

Somewhere along the ride, I felt a smile spread its way across my face. Today was not going to be like the others.
