Fan Fiction ❯ Midnight Tower ❯ summoning ( Prologue )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Summoning in any form is a most difficult task. Though there are many types of summoning, they are classified into two basic groups. Flower summoning, and Shadow summoning. The two groups are separated by the individual tasks needed to achieve a summon. In Flower summoning hope and happiness is the base for all summons. You cannot achieve a full summon with ought a kind heart. Ever the opposite, Shadow summoning requires devious tasks to be performed before the individual could summon even a simple bad luck spirit. Only ones with truly wicked hearts and less than honorable intentions could ever be shadow summoners.
In ancient times Shadow summoners and Flower summoners mingled in one place peacefully. Midnight Tower, a school for all summoners. The tower was meant as a point of neutrality, teaching both Shadow and Flower children. But one day, two rival groups of rebellious Shadow and Flower summoners fought against each other in a battle that brought both sides of the summoning world to the tower in a century long war for dominance. The Flower children rose up victoriously and, though both sides were at fault, all blame for the battle and its destruction was laid on the backs of the remaining Shadow summoners. They were banned from the school and cast back into the darkness where they so rightfully belonged.
To this day, millions of years later, the shadow summoners remain in the dark corners of the world. Now humans have dominance, the school stands under a different name, Meadowlark Mansion. Expansions have been made, and the Midnight Tower stands stark and ominous over the newer buildings. Shadow summoners now pass their knowledge onto personal disciples, though their intentions are more toward gaining in power than in numbers. Their existence depends on destruction, so they compete in battles; the victorious gaining the strength and power of their defeated opponents.
