A young teen named Orian walked calmly down the stone sidewalk, his schoolbag slung over his shoulder and whistling a soft tune to a song he knew. As he walked, he examined the bright blue sky above him, admiring the way the creamy clouds seemed to just sleep in the sky.

So far the day had been the same as usual: Wake up, skip most of school, beat up some punks, and walk around. Nothing out of the ordinary, except… Reya!

She was yet to come and scream at him for skipping the last few periods of school. He smirked. `Maybe she got the idea,' then he groaned…no need for hopeful thinking.

Shaking his head, Orian walked over to the malt shop across the street called, "Molly's Malt Shop". His nostrils picked up the sweet smell of ice cream, French fries, and other foods. His eyes fell upon some familiar faces: Zalon Merico, Torrin Cloud, and Owen Fletcher. They were nothing more than just a bunch of local punks…one in which he constantly messed up.

Their eyes followed his as he took a seat at a table in the far corner of the shop. Choosing to ignore them, he dropped his schoolbag on the ground next to him, picking up the menu and skimming it over. He sat there for about five minutes when a familiar voice popped up.

"Jerk!"

Orian looked up from the menu. Looking rather angry and annoyed stood Reya. She was clutching the strap to her schoolbag and slightly flushed. Orian raised his brow questioningly. " Why am I a jerk, Rea?" he said innocently.

Reya rolled her green eyes and plopped down in the seat across from him.

She picked up a menu too and skimmed it over. "I think you know why, Orian. Once again you skipped school, and then you were supposed to walk me home. But no, you just had to mess around." She told him over the menu. Orian smirked.

"Then why are you here?" he asked, pretending to read the menu. He heard her sigh then, Reya used her finger to tip the top of Orian's menu down. " Orian Salvatore, you are so predictable, that's why." Reya told him, sarcasm obvious in her voice.

Orian rolled his eyes and set his menu down and took Reya's from her hands.

"What do you want? It's on me." He asked, pulling out his wallet. Reya smiled.

"Since you put it that way, fries, cheeseburger and a milk shake!" she answered. Orian nodded and took the menus up to the front counted. A middle-aged woman with glasses approached him, smiling and looking cheerful.

"Hello Orian dear, is Reya with you?" she asked. Orian smiled slightly and nodded. The woman named Molly just beamed a smile back and took the menus from his grasp. "That's nice," she laughed slightly. " Orian, did you know that you and Reya have been coming here since you were four? Amazing, isn't it?" she told him.

`That long? Wow, me and Reya have been friends that long?' Orian said to himself. "Wow, didn't even think of it Molly! Yah' ready to take our orders?" he asked.

Molly smiled and took out a tablet of paper and a pen, ready to write down his order.

"Alright, Reya wants a shake, cheeseburger, and fries. Me, a hamburger, fries, nachos and a Pepsi!" Orian said kindly.

"It'll be ready in 15 minutes dear."

"Thanks," Molly nodded at him and headed to the back of the restaurant. Orian turned and walked back to the table where he and Reya were sitting. As he sat down, Reya looked up and smiled at him.

"Ms. Adrian threw a tantrum because you skipped again. She swore up and down that your life is going straight to the dogs." Reya told him, her smile disappearing at the sight of his expression.

"Like I care what she says about me. She's a bitch anyways." Orian said simply, relaxing back in his seat. Reya glared at him. He hated when she gave him the same old lecture, `Why do you insist on wrecking your life Orian? You're always getting into fights and you constantly skip school! You are better than that! You could do so much with your life…you push away all your chances for a better life…' That same old lecture that he gets every time. Why couldn't Reya get it? He doesn't care.

Reya's glaring didn't stop. She starred hard into his eyes, telling him to shut up. But, when did he ever listen? Orian glared right back at her.

"I really don't care what the teachers say or think about me. It's my life and I don't need any textbooks to get me where I want to go!" he spat at her.

"Alright, alright! Go ahead, do what you want to do! But listen to me Orian; you have a mother, a nice home, and something to live for. If you're not careful, someone could take that away…" pausing slightly, she went on. "Someone with those textbooks you don't need."

Reya's pale eyes bored into his, hoping to get some sort of a reaction out him. He just starred right back. Giving up, Reya sighed and slumped into her chair. They sat there in silence till Molly called to them, telling them their food was ready. Orian was getting ready to get up, but then Reya waved him down. "I'll get it." She told him.

Orian watched her movements as she walked up to the counter to get their food. Shaking his head at their past conversation, he decided to look out the window next to him. Orian could see the cars fly down the street, two kids walking down the sidewalk in deep conversation, a little boy and his mom holding hands as they stopped to look in the window of a candy store. There really is nothing different about this town, everyone was usually very happy. Except for the fact of there's a lot of high school punks around.

You see, he, Orian Salvatore wasn't exactly your ordinary sixteen-year-old. He hates school, in fact he usually only goes when Reya forces him to. He has a knack for getting into trouble and causing it. He constantly is getting into fights (Always winning), and has a foal mouth.

But those are the normal things in his life. Orian has some…abnormal abilities. He can move things with his mind, or when he gets really upset, things sort of just happen. Trees will fall over, a sudden wind or thunderstorms, sometimes it worse.

Never has he told anyone, and he plans to keep it that way, for everyone's safety.

"CRASH "

"Leave me alone!"

Orian's attention was removed from the window, bringing it to the far end of the restaurant. The three punks from he saw earlier were harassing someone…but he couldn't see over a man's head… "Reya." He said aloud.

Reya was carrying the tray of food back to where Orian and she were sitting when someone grabbed her arm. The surprise made her to drop the tray, causing a large crash. People around her were staring and she looked over at the person had grabbed her.

He had blonde hair and handsome face but an evil, ugly grin spread across his face. Reya recoiled and tried to pull her hand away from him. "Leave me alone!" she hissed. The two guys behind him laughed.

"Girly wants me to let her go, what `ah say boys, should I?" her blonde captor said. The two guys behind him shook their heads `no' and began to laugh again.

Reya closed her eyes and let out a breath, trying her best to calm down. Through clenched teeth, she spoke. "I asked you kindly to let me go…I won't ask again!" her words showing bitterness. The blonde guy made a pouting face.

"Now yah' just being rude." He said evilly. Reya was getting desperate she looked around for someone for help, no luck. Suddenly, she felt her arm that was being held quite tightly by her captor, being pulled back and dropped at her side. It was Orian.

Orian's dark gray eyes were narrowed, and he didn't look too pleased.

" She asked you nicely to leave her alone…" he said, his jaw set in a straight line. Orian was holding the guy's arm, squeezing it tight. The guys face showed pain and discomfort, he was desperately trying to pull away from Orian's grasp, which wasn't happening anytime soon.

"Alright man stop!"

By now the guy's buddies were standing up, ready to make the first blow. Reya stood half amused, half frightened behind Orian. She was gently tugging on his shoulder to get his attention. "Orian! Not here! Let them go!" she pleaded. She could feel him debating with his choices, his body tense. As if her hand on his shoulder was some sort of comfort to him, he relaxed and released his grip.

Orian watched them closely, making sure that they wouldn't dare make another move. Satisfied, he slammed some money on the counter for their meal, grabbed Reya's arm and pulled her quickly out of the store. Reya could hear Molly screaming at the guys for making a mess and causing such a problem.

She was watching the ground as they walked, too frightened to look Orian in the eye. `Man, I can such a pain sometime! Wait, I didn't ask to be grabbed! Oh well, Orian doesn't look too happy…' she told herself. Getting all the courage she could, she peered up at Orian, he seemed miles away.

"Orian?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. He looked down at her, as if just realizing she was there. At her questioning tone, he just grinned and waved her off.

"Are you ready to go home?" he asked, his normal `I'm a smart-ass' tone back. Reya smirked.

"Yah, want me to fix you dinner, since ours was ruined?" she asked, her playful smile plastered back on her face. He grinned and nodded.

"I'd love it! Is your mom and dad traveling again?" Orian asked, a slight smile on his face.

Reya flicked her light brown out of her face and sighed.

"Like always. They're in France at the moment. Mom said they'd be back July 19th…" Reya trailed off. She stopped starring at Orian, deciding the ground was more interesting.

Orian thought for a moment, counting weeks then his eyes narrowed.

"Reya, your birthday is July 16th. They'll miss it." Orian said, trying not to get angry. Orian really liked Mr. and Mrs. Amara, but they often put work before they put Reya.

It wasn't quite far to Reya, she hates being home alone and she hates spending too much time alone. Reya's parents are both Meteorologists.

They were constantly dragging Reya to these cocktail parties or making her stay home while they went to conventions. Orian knew that Reya often times has felt real lonely. But she always hid behind her smile. Orian smirked. She was too stubborn to let anyone see her faults. `After all, she is every parents dream…'

She excelled in school; she's a great person, great friend. Reya was quite amazing as she stands. In fact, last year he had just discovered she was a great at archery, and fencing. Well, she couldn't beat him at fencing, but he had learned the hard way that she had a perfect aim. Yah, he could remember that just fine…

"Orian Salvatore! Give me back my diary!" shouted a really mad Reya.

Orian just grinned and stuck out his tongue childishly. She glared right back at him as he took of in a run. Running as fast as she could to caught up with him, she grasped her bow and arrow.

Orian paused to take a breath. He glanced up to see what Reya was up to, she had stopped shouting at him and he was getting suspicious. He saw her arming her bow and he burst out laughing. "Do you actually thing you can hit me with that thing? Very funny Reya!"

Reya glared and he gulped.

"I'm going to ask you one more time, Orian, give me back my diary…"

Orian rolled his eyes. "Think you can hit me, go ahead, try it! I dare you!" he spat, sarcasm rolling on his tongue. Reya smirked and shrugged.

"Fine by me!"

Orian's grin only lasted for a moment when he realized something had grazed the side of his face and was stuck in the tree next to him. His gray eyes widened and he slowly turned his head to see what it was.

The arrow!

A slim, black arrow was sticking out of the tree, next to where his cheek was, only an inch away from hitting him. His mouth suddenly felt dry as he looked at Reya. A confident look was on her face. Her long brown braid was whipping through the wind behind her. Reya's arm was out stretched, motioning for him to hand over the white book in his hands.

As he walked up to her, he shoved it in her hands and looked at her, slightly dazed. "You actually shot at me! You could have killed me!" he spat, his mind returning to him. Reya just shrugged and stuck her chin proudly in the air.

"I told you I wouldn't miss.

End of flashback

Reya could be scary sometimes!
