Joumaku (Prologue)

"I've done it!" a man with a New Orlean accent to his voice shouted triumphantly. His dark hair was slicked back onto his head while a heavily groomed but small mustache and goatee hung off of his chin and the sides of his upper lip. His navy blue business suit, which seemed almost black in the darkness of the night sky was illuminated by the strange, eerie comet that blazed through the skies like an inferno. This elegantly dressed man watched the teenager before him fall onto this knees, clutching his head in pain. He was dressed in a cloudy gray trench coat with a black Metallica 'Kill 'Em All" t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans clothing his body. Blond hair was tied back into a ponytail, leaving only his golden fringe to hang over his eyes.

The business man curled his lips in sinister satisfaction as he continued to watch the young man suffer at his feet.

"I've waited a long time for this day. Now, the ultimate power will be mine!"

Deep within the teenager's mind, a battle was taking place- a battle to retain his identity. A presence was invading his mind. It held an almost overwhelming power of the likes he had never felt before. It wanted to take over him, to free him from the suffering the stranger standing in front of him caused. The young man, though, had other ideas. He could feel the alien presence within him continue to delve deeper into this thoughts. A power, long sealed away within the young man's mind, remained idle, waiting for the day it would be awakened and ultimately used. The presence, however, was disinterested in using it for its own needs; the needs of the young man whom it was forced inside needed this power more than it did.

He continued to fight the presence. The presence fought back, however, using its own power. Though he had a great power himself, the presence was too strong. The young man's mind, weary from the struggle, gave in. He could only watch as he felt himself lose control of all motor functions for the moment.

The business man continued to laugh, until his smile faded and his laughter died down. Kneeling before him, was not the young man he had brought in for this night, but instead what appeared to be a being from a fairytale. Very little could be seen of him, for he was crouched with his hands on his hand like the young man was. He slowly removed his gloved hands from his head, and looked up at him with icy blue eyes through a blond fringe. He got up onto his feet while his cold gaze remained fixed on the business man in front of him.

"No...how can this be! This isn't supposed to happen!" The business man cried out despairingly, "It's not possible!" The warrior before him slowly walked toward him, forcing the business man to step backward fearfully and cautiously. Before the business man could react he grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and held him up with only his left arm.

"What...have...you...done...to...me?!" the being asked. Something in the business man's mind clicked. The person who stood before him was indeed the young man; he presumed at that very moment that the power which the middle-aged man sought had not only entered the teen's body, but had changed his appearance to that of itself. Like a being possessed, he tossed the older man out of the window, and into the salty depths of the ocean below. The possessed teenager continued to slowly make his way out of the room and into a corridor outside, but not before drawing the sword and shield on his back...

Elizabeth Parker sat up in her bed while bead of sweat and persperation dripped from her body while she continued to breath as though she had ran a hundred miles. But that wasn't why she was out of breath; she was out of breath from the nightmare that had gripped her.

"Garret!"
