Fighting and the Promise at the Beach

The whole cafeteria was quiet as they rose from their seats, gathering around the two boys. Sora’s heart pounded rapidly in his chest and he stood, dashing over to the scene.

“You little FUCKER!” Tidus shouted and watched as Riku slowly rose, scowling at the dirty blond, blood flowing out of his nose. The Prince of Punks didn’t seem too happy at the moment and his eyes narrowed further as Sora pushed through the crowd to stand beside Tidus. His gaze switched from both preps and the punk shook with rage.

“So…” Riku straightened himself up and wiped his nose with the back of his pale hand, arms at his sides, and hands balled up into fists. “You’re sending this fucking dumb ass on me for that stupid prank I pulled on you, aren’t you Rich Boy?”

Shaking his head, Sora frowned. “I-”

“DON’T YOU FUCKING TALK TO HIM!” Tidus roared and the cafeteria full of people, cheered and began to chant,

“FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”

Riku glared daggers at the prep and the group of punks placed themselves behind him, watching the two boys. The crowd backed away from the two boys as they began circling each other and Sora gulped, also backing away. He could hear Selphie way behind him, complaining about not being able to see. Kairi and Wakka were with her it seemed because they tried to silence her.

Though with Selphie…that was a task larger than life…

What am I suppose to do? Damn it…

Riku smirked and waved the dirty blond off. “You’re not even worth my time…”

“I could say the same about you…” Tidus snapped back and the boy’s eyes were glowing with a fiery hatred. “This will be the last time you even look at Sora…when I’m done with you, you won’t even be able to walk…”

“Is that a promise?” Riku grinned, viciously and Tidus snarled, charging at him. A pale fist connected with the dirty blonde’s cheek and the boy flew back, only to get up again. The ‘FIGHT’ chant was intensifying and Sora attempted to think of something to do. He watched as the two boys threw punches and blood squirted everywhere.

Think Sora! Go stop it! Stop it, Sora! Do it now! Tidus is going to kill Riku…or it could be the other way around! Maybe if I-

Clashing, the boy’s threw punches and kicks, soon Tidus was on the ground, Riku on top of him and striking him with such force that blood was gushing out of Tidus’ mouth. Tidus tried defending his face with one hand, while with the other, he was attempting to turn the tables as the fighting continued.

“Riku! Riku! Riku!”

Riku beamed and looked around at the crowd as they cheered for him. A full fledged grin on his face, though he winced from the pain.

“Kick his ass, Riku!” Yuffie bounced up and down, with a cat-like grin, Zell bounced with her, punching the air as he went. Leon scowled at his two friends that were being hyperactive right beside him, but they were either oblivious to the human statue’s icy glaring or they were just ignoring him. It was definitely the latter. The King’s eye began to twitch from all the noise and the two beside him. A frown adorned his face and he crossed his arms, impassive through out the fight.

Suddenly, as Riku was off guard, Tidus flipped Riku over and threw punches at him as the crowd was screaming at the top of their lungs, excitedly. Riku grunted, trying to push the prep off of him, while punching him in the stomach. Tidus winced at each blow, but didn’t falter because of being fueled with uncontrollable rage for the Prince of Punks.

“Tidus! Tidus! Tidus!”

“FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”

I’m going to stop this now!

Just as Sora was about to charge in to stop the fight, two strong arms pulled Tidus back, while another pair pulled back Riku. Both Kings held on to their friend’s while glaring at each other. Gray-blue met indescribable blue and the Kings stood frozen, battling with their own ferocious glares.

The cafeteria suddenly got quiet as the fighting ceased and Tidus struggled to get free from Cloud’s grasp, as did Riku from Leon’s. The older males patiently waited for their friend’s to cease their struggling, even though they were focused on one another. Riku gave up before Tidus, knowing full well that Leon wouldn’t let him go. However, Tidus spat on the ground and growled, glowering at Riku.

“If I even see you near Sora, I swear I’ll-”

“You’ll what? Slap me with your wads of money?”

“Shut the fuck up!” Overpowered with rage, Tidus tried flinging himself at the Prince, but Cloud tightened his hold on the younger boy, pulling him back.

“Why are you so defensive of Sora, eh?” Riku questioned and a wicked gleam twinkled in his eyes. “Is it because you’re his lo-”

“STOP!”

Every stare went to Sora as he screamed for this to end.

Silence.

Tidus shrugged Cloud’s arms away and Cloud reluctantly let go as Tidus pointed a finger at Riku.

“Watch your back, punk…” Tidus threatened, rotating his body to face Sora. “Come on Sora…”

Sora looked over toward Riku and saw the wild look in his eyes, and the Prince’s beautiful face with a few purple bruises. Trying to lash out at the dirty blond (but Leon tightening his hold on the Prince), Riku watched as Sora turned and followed Tidus, feeling his body quiver with rage for the prep known as Tidus. The said dirty blond boy pushed through the crowd to get away from the Prince of Punks, while everyone stared at his retreating form. Slowly, everyone filed back to their seats, gossiping about the fight, until the doors slammed open and Principal Sephiroth barged in, quieting the lunchroom once again. He glanced over at the bleeding Riku and the blood sprinkled on the floor and without hesitation, he rushed over, putting a hand on Riku’s shoulder. Bending down so he could whisper in his ear, Sephiroth felt Riku tense from the sudden contact, freezing in mid-movement as Riku was about to shrug on his book bag.

“Come on Riku…”

Sora glanced over to the Principal and Riku walking out of the lunchroom and Sora lowered his head, hearing the room talk up a storm once again. This wasn’t supposed to happen…why would Tidus do such a thing?

“That stupid fucker…damn it Cloud! Why did you stop me?” Tidus growled and pounded his fist on the table, Sora jumped, startled by the sudden rage of the dirty blond. The brunette’s eyes noticed his best friend’s bruised knuckles and he grimaced inwardly beating himself up.

This is my entire fault…all my fault…

Sora gaze lifted to study the bruises on Tidus’ face and the blood already drying on his best friend’s face…compared to Riku, Tidus was a lot worse off. Sora felt terrible for both of them and even worse because the fight was about him. He wanted to go home…to lie in his bed and forget everything that happen…he wanted to be free of this tormenting guilt…

“The fight got too far…” Cloud replied simply and he threw his thrash into the garbage can behind him. “I didn’t even think that it would get very far…”

“I wish you let me sock him a few more times!” Tidus whined and Selphie handed Tidus her cold water bottle to put on his wounds.

“Well, you showed him Tidus!” She giggled and tilted her head to the side. “What was the fight about anyway?”

“Well, that stupid ass fucker was the one that p-”

“Tidus…” Sora interrupted and Tidus paused as he turned to give Sora a worried look, as if he was the one that got beaten up.

“Yeah Sora…?” Tidus asked as he took the water bottle and rested it on the bruised skin of his cheek.

The brunette brought up his gaze to meet Tidus’ and he asked in a small whispery voice, “Can you take some of the blame…? You started it…”

“Why the hell should I? You know what he did to you!” Tidus growled and Sora shook his head, glaring at his best friend. Selphie, Kairi and Wakka perked up, wide-eyed. They knew the stories about the Prince of Punks and they eagerly leaned in to listen to the conversation.

“I don’t care what he did to me! It was for me to take care of! I knew I should have never told you about the prank he did! Please…let’s at least go to the nurse to get some ice for your bruises…”

Quietly, Tidus sat there, and after a few moments thinking about it, Tidus finally replied with a soft whisper. “Come on…let’s go to the nurse…”

Sora smiled and nodded his head numbly, waving his friends goodbye as he threw away his thrash and took his things with him. Tidus and Sora began walking out of the cafeteria.

The walk was silent. Just before they turned the corner to the nurse’s office, Tidus halted and bowed his head in shame. Tilting his head to the side in confusion, Sora stopped.

“Tidus?”

“I’m sorry, Sora.” Tidus began and lifted his head to gaze at his best friend. “I should have never done that…it was just…”

“Just what?”

Feeling the blood rush up to his cheeks, Tidus couldn’t help but look away from the puzzled brunette in front of him.

“Well…I couldn’t help myself…because I-”

BRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!

Sora waited as the bell rang and waited some more for Tidus to speak. The said dirty blond, bowed his head once more and scratched his head as if contemplating on how to tell his friend the news. Sora’s brows furrowed, puzzled.

“Because why?”

“Don’t worry about it…I’m good from here…I’ll head to the Nurse’s office, okay?”

Sora nodded numbly, even though he was curious to find out what Tidus was going to say. “Alright…I’ll see you after school then!”

“Alright! Bye Sora…”

He waved and headed to his four period class, book bag slung on his shoulder. Well…at least Sora didn’t tell Tidus about next week and how he had to teach Riku some ‘manners’. What was he supposed to do? Teach Riku how to say, “Please?” And “Thank You”? Why did Sora have to do this? There were tons of people at this school who were smarter and nicer and funnier than measly ol’ adorable virgin Sora! Why was he getting dragged into this mess?

Sighing, Sora trudged on, entering his creative writing class. Soft classical music played in the background, creating a serene atmosphere as the violin’s notes flowed through the room, calming even the tense brunette. The teacher, Ms. Jackson was calmly sitting at her desk, her brown locks hanging like a thick blanket behind her back and her head was bent low to continue to read the book in her hands. Her head rose as she heard his shuffling feet and she smiled, welcoming him with her small brown eyes. He smiled back, though he didn’t feel like smiling at the moment and turned, sitting in his desk. Ms. Jackson never really minded where her students sat or if students brought in food from lunch. She was a cool teacher, she was really lenient and Sora loved this class above the rest. This was the class where he could just pour his feelings out on a sheet of paper. Sora, especially loved Ms. Jackson because she never made students read what they wrote if they were too afraid to stand in front of the class. Sora was one of those students…

Taking out his binder and a pencil, Sora didn’t hear the sound of footfalls approach his desk. When he saw that his paper had become shadowed, Sora looked up to see Ms. Jackson standing over him. He blinked and she put a hand to her hip, studying him. Gradually, he moved back, putting a smile on his teacher‘s face.

“Don’t be timid, Sora!” She giggled and shook her head. “I was just waiting for you to write something.” She looked around the room at the growing number of students and she bent down, her smile going sweet. “You are my best writer!” she patted his shoulder and headed back to her desk, welcoming the incoming students.

Was he really the best writer? There was this blond girl that was really good. She wrote some of the saddest stories Sora had ever heard. They seemed so true, so real, and especially when Sora heard her poems, he felt something hit him inside. It was as if she wrote about the feelings inside of him.

But no need to ruin a perfect class because he had to reminisce, right?

BBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!

“Alright my wonderful students!” Ms. Jackson beamed from her chair, a joyous twinkle in her eye. “Now today, since its Friday, I want all of you to follow our tradition.” She grinned and joined her hands together.

“Let’s have a good ‘Pour-Your-Heart-Out Day’!”

Sora chuckled and shook his head, glancing down at his paper. Pour-Your-Heart-Out- Day was when either the students had to write what happened during the course of the day and how it affected them or they could write about a time in their life where it impacted them and might have changed their lives.

To Sora…both sounded horrible…

Pondering on what he should write, Sora was oblivious to a sudden blond making her appearance, as she sat in the desk beside him. Calmly, she began to write one of her depressing stories, and that’s when Sora (upon hearing the scratching of a pen on paper) glanced up, becoming instantly startled.

“Where did you come from?!” Sora asked and the blond glanced up, her blond hair filing to the side as she smiled, turning her head to gaze at him.

“I thought you seemed lonely, so I took the initiative in sitting next to you.” she stated and went back to her writing. Sora blinked and shook his head smiling.

She was right…he kind of was alone…but that was because he liked to sit by himself instead of by any of the students. It was weird though…because this blond girl never did this before…

“You must be Sora…” The girl began and Sora snapped his gaze to her smiling face. “I heard about the fight in the cafeteria today…”

“You don’t have the same lunch?” Sora asked and the girl shook her head, smirking.

“No, but I rather not have the same lunch with my hyperactive brother…or his…odd friends.” She giggled and looked at Sora from the corner of her eye. “But I passed my brother in the hall and he told me all about it…”

Sora sighed, extensively, placing his head in his hands. “I guess everyone knows now…”

“Well…I don’t know the story behind it, but I just was told about the fight. Care to enlighten me in the matter?”

Silence and then a soft, “I guess…?”

“Quistis…” She stated and didn’t lift her head up from her writing.

“Alright…” Sora frowned, running both his hands through his nest of hair. Even though he really didn’t want to tell her the story…who would he tell it to? His mother never spoke to him any more, Tidus wouldn’t truly listen because all he would be thinking about was killing the silver-haired Prince, Selphie’s attention span was worst than a bug’s, Wakka would change the subject to Blitzball and Kairi would just give him advice that wouldn’t help him at all. He had no one to express his feelings to (which was utterly depressing), but she seemed nice enough.

“Well…it all started when…”

“Ouch! Damn it! Stop pressing on it!” Ice pack on his nose, Riku glared at his uncle as Sephiroth applied pressure, whether the reason for torturing his nephew was because he cursed in front of him or because he got in a fight, Riku was feeling the pain of his uncle‘s wrath. Pushing said uncle away, Riku growled and threw the ice pack toward the wall and watched as it hit with a loud ‘thud’.

Rich Boy’s friend is going to pay…

“Riku…” Sephiroth warned and Riku lifted his gaze, glaring at his uncle intensely. “Will you tell me what happened?”

“Why should I?” Riku retorted, crossing his arms in a pout. “You’ll only make things worse…”

“And you, nephew, will only destroy the one who picked a fight with you!” Sephiroth sighed, walking over to a dark corner of his room, away from the sunlight. Leaning against the wall, Sephiroth watched his nephew, arms crossed over his chest. Air condition rattling, Riku watched his uncle from the corner of his eye, while pondering on how he would tell his parents about the bruises on his face.

Great…more drama…

“Riku…if you just told me who has done this to you, I can get them expelled!”

“I want to deal with this myself!”

“Why?” Sephiroth growled, appearance fierce as his silver hair coiled around his extremely tall body, he banged his fist into the wall and Riku could have swore he heard the wall splitting apart (though he didn‘t want to chance looking at his uncle giving him a death glare), all he did was roll his eyes, rising from his seat.

“Can you just leave it alone?!”

“Can you just tell me? Why are you being so stubborn?” Sephiroth questioned and Riku shrugged, trailing over to the window, leaning on the windowsill, chin in one hand, watching a nest of blue birds.

“What were you fighting for Riku…? What was so important that you had to fight someone?” Sephiroth’s voice lowered and the principal plopped in a chair opposite of the window, observing his nephew. Riku turned, the sun catching his silver locks making them shimmer from the contact. He could feel the warm rays on the back of his neck and his gaze faced his uncle, staring into those glowing green eyes that were staring at him from the dark side of the room.

“It was because…” Riku bit his lip and touched his bruised cheek. “…of something stupid…”

“Like?”

Scowling, Riku turned his back to his uncle. “None of your business!”

Huffing out of sheer annoyance, Sephiroth sighed and shook his head in a slow manner, contemplating on what to do next. An elongated silence passed between the two relatives and Sephiroth sighed, silently.

“Riku…” Sephiroth began. “I, honestly, don’t know what to do with you…”

“Just send me back to class…you’re not getting anything out of me…” Riku snapped, walking over to his lonely book bag that sat hunched in a corner of the room. He shrugged it on his shoulders, looking over toward Sephiroth, waiting to be released.

“Fine…” Sephiroth sighed in frustration. “Go back to class…but after school we will talk about this…”

“Whatever…” Riku turned the knob of the wooden door, stepped out and slammed it behind him. He saw Rinoa glance up from her secretary desk and she smiled, despite that Riku was silently fuming.

“Have a wonderful day, Riku.” She said sweetly and Riku nodded even though all he wanted to do was skip his stupid class and never see his uncle again.

“Thanks, Ms. Heartilly.”

“Oh! Just Rinoa, okay sweetie?”

“Alright…”

Snailing towards his last class of the day, he wondered what that bastard Mr. Saunders would say about all of this. He would probably laugh and give him one of those looks. The look that made you feel you were the dumbest person alive…the look that made you want to crawl in a dumpster and live there forever…

But Riku never gave into one of those looks. He only shot a more powerful look back.

Though…after one of Riku’s looks, his mouth would start cursing up a storm and then detention was calling him…like every other time he gave Saunders a look.

It made his blood boil just thinking about that tight-pants-wearing man.

Feet on auto drive, Riku had other matters to worry about…one including Sora. What was he going to do with that boy? How was he going to last…a full week or even MORE…with him. He still had to do that project on Uranus with him…damn…he probably would have to catch him before school ended to talk about what part they each would do.

Because…I don’t want to be in that boy’s presence for too long…

He could spot that plain oak door from miles away…or maybe it was because every door beside it was decorated from last week’s Teacher Appreciation Week, where the students decorated the doors for the teachers.

Well…Riku could definitely see how much students loved that Trig. bastard…

Halting at the said door, Riku mentally gagged and grasped the knob of the door in his pale hand, turning it slowly. Pushing it open with little to no enthusiasm, Riku frowned when the class’s attention focused on him. Riku could feel that loathed smirk on his hated teacher’s lips and he gradually lifted his gaze, letting it stop on Mr. Saunders.

Well…he was right about that stupid smirk…

“Well Riku…it’s nice to have you in class…” The fake joy in Saunders’ voice, leaked out of his mouth like regurgitated lunch. Riku mentally cringed and glowered at his teacher as he took his seat, dropping his book bag on the dirty tilted floor. Bending down silently, he unzipped his book bag to retrieve his math items and placed them on his desk.

That stare

“What happened to you now, Riku?” Saunders asked with his continuous smirk plastered on his pale face. Riku’s gaze continued to remain on his desk, weary of the day already…

He really didn’t need this.

“Come on Riku…where is the comebacks, eh?”

“I really don’t feel like playing your little game…” Riku growled and elevated his gaze to look at his teacher that had the appearance of a Jim Carrey wannabe, but he was the ugliest thing on earth, with his hair pushed to two sides and his small beady eyes and harsh smirk…

Look away Riku…before you say something you can’t afford to say…Seph is already mad right now…having another detention from this bastard would infuriate him more. Take a breath and relax…

“Get to work…“ Saunders finished, dropping the subject of Riku’s bruised face for now. He walked over to his desk and plopped down in his wheelie chair, staring at the computer screen in front of him.

He’s probably looking up porn…

Smirking at the thought, Riku’s brow rose as he heard the giggling being sitting beside him. He grinned and turned his gaze toward the wackiest girl in the whole school.

“What’s so funny, Rikku?”

The blond lifted her head and covered her mouth with her hand, hardly trying to surpass her giggling. “You Riku!”

“Why?” The silver-haired boy blinked and tilted his head, watching the senior stop her giggle-frenzy and smile back at him.

“You try so hard to calm yourself when you’re around Saunders, but yet I can see that you just want to sock him one!” She grinned and she began to paw the air in front of her, a devious glint in her eyes. “Why don’t you just shakey-shake over to his desk and-”

“Shh!” One of the students whispered as they turned to glare at the two talkative teens. Just when the girl turned, Rikku stuck out her tongue at the girl who interrupted her.

“Rikku…” The silver-haired boy shook his head and gave her a funny look. He ignored the fact that the blond continued to make funny faces at the girl who only wanted peace in the classroom. “I’m already in deep shit. I can‘t afford to just go over there and punch the shit out of him…”

“Anything I can do?” Rikku smiled as she turned back to her friend, bouncing up and down in her chair.

“AAAAnnnnyyyytttthhhhiiiinnnngggg?” She drawled, leaning closer to the younger boy, wide-eyed, one of her many braids fell in front of her face and she brushed it away, only for it to fall back in it‘s original place. She was part of the ‘fashionista’ crowd, wearing the latest threads and hanging out with her posse (which consisted of the preps and a girl named Paine, which Yuffie was good friends with). Honestly, Riku could say that she was probably one of the ONLY girls that hung out with the preps that he liked. Riku always wondered why she never got dress code…she always wore some…revealing clothes.

Riku shook his head and averted his gaze away from his crazy friend. “Not unless you’re willing to kill a certain blond boy, work with a spiky-headed prep in the ‘manners’ department and save the world before bed time…”

The blond smirked with a tiny mischievous glint in her eyes. She reached over and grasped Riku’s cheeks. “Awwww! Has my wittle Riku been watching the Powerpuff Girls again?”

The whole class turned to the two with either anger in their eyes from them continuing to talk, or with wicked smirks because they overheard the ‘Powerpuff Girl’ conversation…or just the words ‘Powerful Girls’ used with the Prince of Punks.

“I don’t watch that stupid show…” The embarrassed boy whispered as the class turned back around in their seats.

“Oh!” Rikku bounced up and down in her seat and clung onto Riku’s arm. “Guess what!”

Riku sighed and shook his head. His friend sure had a short attention span…

“Well, remember my cousin, Yunie?” Not waiting for Riku to reply, she continued. “Well…she’s coming to our school soon!” The blond girl joined her hands together with a squeal of joy. “Isn’t that exciting?!”

Sure…if you like quiet girls that blush at the words: ‘Sex’, ‘Libido’ and ‘Hump’ …

“Yeah Rikku…” Turning to the other student that was sitting adjacent from him, he was just about to ask the page number, when Rikku pulled him towards her, causing him to almost fall out of his chair.

“RIKKU!”

The whole class turned to the fuming Prince and he icily glared at all of them. They quickly turned to the front and continued their work, while Riku felt that look bore into the back of his head.

Damn…

“Get to work, Riku…” Saunders drawled and Riku grumbled.

“Maybe when you stop giving everyone else good grades because they let you butt fuck them…” Riku muttered under his breath, feeling Saunders’ stare become more heated.

“What was that Riku?”

Nothing you little asshole…

“Nothing…”

“Good.” Saunders smirked and turned back to his the computer screen.

“Hello Destiny High! This is your favorite announcers, Tifa and Leblanc!”

Riku sighed, joyously as the afternoon announcements chimed in his ears. He silently listened as Tifa talked, but soon Leblanc took over.

“Cheerleading try-outs next week! Be ready, loves! I heard it was going to be quite a challenge this year to make it! Make sure you’re there…”

Boring…boring…boring… < p>Announcers changed once again back to Tifa.

“Have you always had a dream of being on stage performing? Well here’s your big chance! Next month we are having our annual ‘Destiny High Talent Show’, tickets will be sold early, starting next week, so…”

Riku grinned upon hearing this wonderful news. It was his favorite time of the year, once again and the Prince of Punks couldn’t wait to start practicing with the band! Wait…he had practice today!

Shit…good job Riku…well…I’ll just go hurry and get ‘Something’ and then rush to catch Sora before he leaves! Perfect!

“Well another exciting announcement is…the Masquerade Ball is coming up, loves! Tickets will be sold early as well! So don’t forget, loves! It will be on October the thirtieth! I better see ALL of you there! All costumes are wearable! Unless, of course, you loves don’t wear a costume…Principal Sephiroth wants everybody in a costume this year!”

Snickering, Riku could hear the giggling girl beside him. He glanced over toward her and both had the same thing on their minds.

Why don’t they just point me out? Hey Riku! Don’t come butt-naked again! Hehe…I guess Seph doesn’t want to see my naked side ever again…just to bug him…I should come naked…

Just like last year, prizes will be awarded to the ‘Scariest Costume’, the ‘Best Costume’, the ‘Cutest Costume’, the ‘Sexiest Costume’, and last but not least… the ‘Best Dressed Couple’ will get one hundred dollars and the last dance. Isn’t that so exciting, Leblanc?”

“Yes Tifa! Anyway, that’s all for afternoon announcements, loves! Have a fun weekend and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!” There was soft chuckling from the intercom, followed by silence.

Well…it will be a relief to not have those two next year…

BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG

Grabbing his things in a hurry and shoving his math items in his book bag, Riku waved a quick good bye to Rikku, before rushing out of the room to get ‘Something’ and to catch up with Sora.

Please let me catch Sora…

“Well Sora…that was a pretty interesting story.” She glanced up from her now finished writing, smiling.

“Yeah…hey! Would you like to go to the beach with a few friends of mine?”

“Sorry, Sora.” Shaking her head, Quistis patted his shoulder and grabbed her things. “I have to supervise the practices my brother holds everyday.” She chuckled at Sora’s confused expression. “He put a band together. Riku’s the lead singer, remember? Maybe you should come over and talk it out with-”

“Well…I have to go to the beach today…I promised my friends, but like I said…I have to teach Riku some…‘manners’, so it‘s not like I won‘t see him any time soon.”

“Well good luck with that.” She giggled and Sora couldn’t help but smile at his new friend. “Anyway, if you have anything you want to talk about…come to me okay?”

“Yeah!” Sora nodded with a grin. “Thanks for listening.”

“No p-”

BBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

“Have a wonderful weekend class!” Ms. Jackson waved the students good bye as they exited from the room. “Be safe!”

“Bye Sora. See you Monday.”

“Right…bye Quistis.”

With a wave and a silent goodbye to Ms. Jackson, Sora trudged to the front of the school, sighing with relief. This day was finally over…finally-

“SORA!”

Turning to the sound of his name, Sora spotted Selphie stampeding toward him. Just as he was about to shield himself, since the girl looked as if she would run into him, Selphie stopped short and grinned, waving her hand in his face, while enveloping him in a tight hug.

“SORA! WE’REGOINGTOTHEBEACHANDI’MSOEXCITEDAND-”

“Whoa! Selphie calm down!” Trying to pry the clinging Selphie off his chest from the sudden hug he received from her, Sora winced as she began yelling in his ear, bouncing up and down.

“IKNOWASECERTTOOANDTIDUSTOLDMEANDIT’SABOUTYOU,ICAN’TWAITUNTILYOUFINDOUTATTHEBEACHBECASUEIT’STHEBESTSECR ETINTHEENTIREWORLD!”

Shaking his head, Sora (upon not understanding anything Selphie said) just nodded and finally pried her off. “That’s great Selphie!”

Smile Sora…maybe she won’t notice that you didn’t hear anything she said…

“Yep!” She giggled and skipped beside him toward the front of the school, turning her little yellow book bag so it was over her chest, looking like a turtle with the shell backwards. She seemed to calm down as she began to talk again. “Aren’t you dying to know what he’s going to tell you?”

“Sure Selphie…” Mind drifting off in his own little world, Sora didn’t hear a sudden pair of footsteps approach from behind him.

“Hey guys.”

“TIDUS!”

Sora turned and was face-to-face with his best friend. Smiling, Sora noticed that Tidus looked a lot better since he went to the nurse’s office. That alone was a comfort for Sora.

“Feeling better, Tidus?” Selphie questioned, with the tilt of her head.

“Yeah…a lot better…thanks.” With a small smile, Tidus walked on beside his friends, silently. Sora wondered what was wrong, but he decided it was best to wait until they got into the limo to talk.

“Well guys, see you at the beach!” Selphie giggled and rushed over toward her white limo awaiting her.

The two boys trailed over toward Sora’s own limo and David smiled, welcoming them inside. Tidus entered first and just as Sora was about to step in, a voice called him.

“SORA! WAIT!”

Eyes widening, Sora’s mind registered the familiar voice and quickly shut the door, covering the outside window with his body.

Oh shit…I can’t let Tidus see him…

“David, do me a favor…”

“Anything Sora!” The limo driver smiled and waited for Sora’s command.

“Don’t let Tidus out of the limo…”

“Yes sir.” With that, David guarded the opposite side of the limo.

“Riku? Are you okay?” Seeing the heavy-breathing Riku almost slumped on the ground holding his encased guitar, Sora waited for his reply, while feeling pairs of eyes on both of the boys.

And there just HAS to be students outside…I hate when people stare…

“Yeah…fine…” More heavy breathing and then the Prince straightened himself gazing into the brunette’s cobalt eyes. “What part are you going to do on our project?”

Huh? Oh!

“Err…what part are you doing…?” Hearing the door click, Sora glanced down as the door tried to open.

SHIT!

Turning his back to the Prince, Sora pushed the door to a close and rotated his head around to look at Riku. A blush adorned Sora’s cheeks as the angered Tidus began to pound on the door, wanting release.

“What do you have in there? A wild animal?”

“No! Umm…I’ll do…err…the first half until the moons and you do the rest, okay? Bye!” Averting his gaze away from Riku to David which held the other door closed, Sora nodded and David let go of the door, opening his own and quickly closing it as he sat in the driver‘s seat. Sora gave a quick wave toward Riku as he opened the door and jumped him, while David sped off.

Whoa…that was close…

Mumble. Mumble.

Sora’s brow rose as his head tilted to the side. When had the chairs gotten so comfy?

“Ora…et…off…”

“OH! Sorry Tidus!”

Blushing, Sora lifted himself off of Tidus’ suffocating head and sat adjacent from his best friend. Tidus glared at Sora as he inhaled deeply.

“Next time you want to sit on my face…please…just tell me.”

Sora grinned sheepishly. “Sorry…”

“Don’t worry about it.” Tidus waved it off and sighed. “Bring your bathing suit?”

Geez…he wanted to change the subject fast…

“Yep!” Sora grabbed his book bag and opened it, taking out his red swimming trunks. Tidus chuckled and leaned back into his seat.

Silence.

Taking a look out his window, Sora recognized the change of scenery as the trademark palm trees came into view. Wide-eyed, Sora didn’t realize that someone was staring at him intensely.

“Sora…”

“Huh?” Looking over at Tidus, Sora gave him an innocent look as he blinked his eyes a few times, staring at his best friend.

“Who were you talking to?”

“A…friend…”

“Uh huh…what’s their name?”

“Fred…” Sora drawled out and knew that was an obvious lie.

Why can’t I lie? WHY?!

“Fred, eh?” Tidus crossed his arms and gave Sora an ‘I-don’t-believe-you-because-you-never-could-lie’ look. “I never knew you had a friend named Fred…”

“He just moved here!”

Second lie of the day.

“Where did he come from?”

“Traverse Town!”

Third lie.

“What grade is he in…?” Another disbelieving look.

“He’s a junior!”

Fourth lie.

ALRIGHT! NO MORE SORA!

“Uh-huh…”

“Why are you asking so many questions?” Sora pouted as Tidus smirked.

“I’m just looking out for my best buddy!” Tidus grinned as he leaned over and ruffled the brunette’s nest of hair. “I wouldn’t want something to happen to you.”

“TIDUS! QUIT!” Slapping his friend’s hand away, Sora continued to pout knowing full well his hair was sticking up even more than usual.

When Tidus started laughing, Sora couldn’t help but join in too.

I love it when he laughs…it just makes my day…even though Tidus laughs a lot doesn’t mean I can’t like it right? It makes him really cute…whoa…I could of sworn I said…NO! I didn’t! It must have been my imagination!

“Finally! We’re here!” Tidus grinned and looked out the window, eyes fixed on the groups of people and the waves he was destined to ride.

“Alright, let’s head to the bathroom so we can get changed.”

“Okay!” Sora watched Tidus open the door and climb out, the brunette followed.

“Have fun you two! Call me when you want to come home Sora!” David yelled as he rolled the window down. The boys waved to David as he drove off.

“Oh! That reminds me! Did you call your parents to tell them you came with me?”

“Yeah!” Tidus smirked and Sora smiled back. “Come on…the bathrooms await!”

“Yep!”

Sun shining brightly in the heated sky, sea gulls cawed out into the stifling air as a single baby breeze blew by. Couples, groups and even single people either lay on their towels talking amongst themselves, or they were in the teal green water, splashing and having the time of their lives.

To sum it up…it was a beautiful day.

Dressed and ready for the beach, Sora and Tidus discarded their clothes into their own book bags. Taking out their beach towels, they laid them onto the white sand.

“Hey guys!” Familiar Selphie squealing…

Sora looked up and waved to the group of friend’s trailing behind Selphie, beach items tucked under their arms.

“How did you get here so fast?!” Selphie, in a yellow one-piece suit, asked bouncing up and down.

“Err…I don’t know…”

“Tidus, I brought your surf board!” Wakka threw the board at Tidus, and the boy caught it with ease. “Going surfing now, ya?”

“Yeah! Let’s go!”

The two boys rushed off into the water, surf boards in hand, while Selphie and Kairi stayed behind. Sora welcomed their company, engaging in a conversation with them both, but before he knew it, the two girls waved good bye to Sora, saying they had to go get a drink at the shack far away…on the other side of the beach.

“I can’t wait Kairi!” Selphie squealed, whispering while joining her hands together. “Sora’s going to be so surprised!”

“Yeah, I know!” Kairi giggled and sighed. “I think he’ll be happy…but…how do we know that he’ll like it…I mean we don’t know if he’s-”

“Let’s just trust Tidus!” Selphie nodded her head, signaling the discussion was over.

Unexpectedly, Selphie stopped and Kairi gave her a funny look as she keep walking, motioning for the girl to follow her with a small, “Come on Selphie!”, but before she knew it, Kairi bumped into something and turned her head to apologize when she gasped taking a step back, blushing.

With a cowboy hat tipped on top of his head and wearing tan swimming trunks, Irvine Kinneas smiled down at both of the girls. His tall, but slightly built body was becoming kissed by the sun as his body was slightly turning red. He tipped his hat further and gave the girls a little nod.

“Howdy ladies…”

Kairi could have sworn Selphie swooned, but she smiled nodding her head. “Hey Irvine! How have you been?”

“Fine as wine!” He grinned and averted his gaze to the blushing Selphie. “Howdy Selphie. Why so quiet?”

“NO REASON!” She squealed, rushing up and clinging onto the older boy. Irvine chuckled and patted Selphie’s head.

“Well, how long are you two lovely ladies going to be at the beach today?”

“As long as you’re here!” Selphie chirped, holding Irvine in a death hug. Irvine winced as the girl began squeezing the life from him.

“Selphie? Why don’t you let go of Irvine. Selphie? SELPHIE?” Arms crossed at her pink bikinied covered chest, Kairi rolled her eyes and grasped Selphie’s shoulder trying to pull the girl off of her friend. “Selphie, let go!”

“Do I have to?” Whining, Selphie looked up at Irvine’s grimacing face. Irvine gave a small nod and the girl immediately let go, smiling sweetly as Irvine gasped to catch his breath.

“Whoa…you sure have a strong grip, little lady…” Straightening himself up, Irvine shook his head and took off his hat, placing it on Selphie’s head.

“You come over to the group later, okay?”

Selphie’s joy skyrocketed from the moment Irvine placed the hat onto her head. She squealed, bouncing around him. “OKAY!”

Irvine chuckled and with a wave left the two ladies to themselves.

Kairi shook her head, giggling. “I think he might like you Selphie!”

“Maybe!”

Continuing their walk, Kairi couldn’t help, but remember the time when they first met Irvine. He was with a group of friends dancing in the middle of his circle of friends to ’Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy’. He had one of those poles with a plush horse head in between his legs, prancing around as he danced and she remembered when Selphie broke that circle to go dance with him. The hyperactive girl couldn’t help herself when it came to dancing or to Irvine. Irvine wasn’t from Destiny High. He went to a private school or something like that…but he came to the beach every Friday with his cowboy friends.

Selphie’s going to explode with so much excitement when she hangs out with Irvine tonight.

Bored…when are they coming back? I’m all alone and I-

All of a sudden, a beach bag was plopped onto the ground and a certain blond finally made his appearance. Wearing black swim trunks, Cloud quietly sat beside Sora, staring straight ahead, not acknowledging Sora at all. Sora blinked.

I wonder why Cloud’s always so quiet…

“Cloud?”

“Yeah.”

Fidgetin g, Sora smiled, shyly. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, why?”

“You never seem to be okay…you’re always so quiet…”

“…”

Quickly, Sora changed the subject feeling something radiating from the older boy. Was it pain?

“Isn’t it a beautiful day?” Sora sighed, laying back on his towel and watching the blond boy from the corner of his eye. “I mean, at least it isn’t raining like last time and-”

“Sora…”

“Huh?”

“Yo u talk too much…”

First Riku and now you Cloud…I guess I should just shut up, but-

“Sorry…” Sora said, looking away. With that, he shut his mouth for good.

“So Tidus…are you going to tell Sora, today?” Wakka yelled over the sound of the rushing waves. Tidus nodded, concentrating on standing on his board as he tried to catch some good waves. All of them seemed to be so small today.

“When?”

“Tonight…”

“You ’re really going to do this, ya?”

“Yeah…” Tidus whispered, uncaring if Wakka heard it or not. He kind of wished everyone would stop talking about it! It wasn’t a big deal or anything…even though the butterflies in his stomach said something otherwise.

Looking up at the sky, Wakka sighed, dragging a hand though his wet orange hair. “Looks like you’re gonna have to get ready soon. It’s gonna be dark in a few hours.”

Tidus waved the matter off, shooting a sharp glance toward Wakka. “Drop it, okay!”

“If you say so, ya?”

Silence and a simple,

“Let’s go back to shore…”

“Are you guys just sitting here doing nothing?!” Kairi shook her head and gave both of the boys a soft look. “You both are lazy bums…”

“Hey! I’m not la-” Yawning, Sora pouted, proving himself wrong. He was lazy…but that was because the sun was making him drowsy! It wasn’t his fault!

Although Cloud was silent, a small smirk adorned his face. He shrugged his shoulders, stretching his tired limbs.

“I brought my stereo!” Selphie exclaimed, fishing through her large beach bag, piled to the top. “Ah-ha!” Grasping the yellow handle, Selphie pulled out her yellow stereo and turned it on, grinning as a song began to play.

“I bought the Gwen Stefani CD! It’s the best EVER!”

What an amazing time.
What a family.
How did the years go by?
Now it’s only me.

It was soft at first…and Sora smiled, closing his eyes, feeling calm despite the fact Selphie was dancing around her friends in a frenzied state.

Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock< br> Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
La, la, la, la, la, la, la

Sora snapped open his eyes and frowned. Geez…nice change in the song’s tempo…

Like a cat in heat stuck in a moving car
A scary conversation, shut my eyes, can't find the brake
What if they say that you’re a climber?

“Hey guys! What’s going on?”

Sora looked over at Tidus and smiled, shrugging his shoulders. “Selphie’s making us listen to Gwen Stefani…”

“YEP!” Selphie giggled, now dancing around Tidus. “Ask Sora to dance with you Tidus!”

Naturally I'm worried if I do it alone
Who really cares cause it's your life?
You never know it could be great!

Tidus froze, eyes widening as large as dinner plates. “I-I-”

Take a chance cause you might grow
Oh, oh ohhh!

Tidus growled looking at the stereo as if it were talking to him. “I don’t think so…”

“BUT WHHHHYYYYYY?” Selphie drawled, clinging onto Tidus. Sora just sat there, head tilted to the side in confusion.

Huh?

What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?

“Turn that stupid song off!” Tidus hissed and Selphie begged him to ask Sora, though Tidus shook his head. “Get off Selphie!”

“PPPLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEEE?̶ 1;

“NO! DROP IT!”

What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?

“Shut up!”

Trailing over toward the stereo, Tidus kicked it. “SHUT UP!”

Take a chance you stupid ho

Selphie pounced on Tidus and he fell forward, getting his face covered in sand. Sora blinked and him, Kairi, Wakka, and Cloud watched as the energetic girl wrestled the Blitzball player. Selphie grabbed Tidus’ arm and bit down as he pushed her off of him, yelping as blood dripped down his arm.

“Fuck…”

“That’s what you get for hurting my stereo you big MEANIE!” Selphie screeched, causing Sora to get up and rush over to Tidus.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah…”

“Come on…let‘s go stop the bleeding…” Sora said, cheerfully and Tidus nodded, smiling.

“Thanks…”

Just as the boys were walking off, Selphie grinned, devishly. “My plan worked!”

“Huh?” Confused, Kairi crossed her arms, tilting her head to the side. “What are you talking about Selphie?”

“I got them ALONE!” She giggled and bounced on the balls of her feet. “Now Tidus will HAVE to tell Sora!”

“I get it!” Kairi chuckeld and gave her friend a stern look. “Though that was really mean…”

“Damn Selphie…I never knew you were so devious, ya?”

“Yup-yup!” She said, bobbling her head. “By tonight, they’ll be k-”

“Selphie…”

Everyone looked at the King of Preps and witness him shake his head, frowning.

“You shouldn’t do that…they need to figure it out on their own…”

“But CLOUD!”

“No.”

“But!”

“No, Selphie.”

Pouting, Selphie stuck her tounge out at Cloud. “Meanie head…”

Back in the bathroom, Sora frowned as he patched up his wounded friend. Making Tidus sit on the sink, Sora concentrated on the bite as he wiped off the blood with a damp paper towel.

“Sora…”

“What?” Sora looked up into those blue eyes and his breath hitched in his throat.

He’s really looking at me…those eyes…so…wow…I’ve never noticed…but I never really cared much…but why do I now?

“I’m sorry…again…”

“Hey! I don’t mind cleaning you up after your fights.” Sora smiled and brushed off the sand on Tidus’ arm with the paper towel. “It’s not a big deal…I’m not mad…”

“Sora…”

“Yeah?”

&# 8220;Err…nothing…”

“Are you sure?” Sora questioned, looking up. Blue met Cobalt and both the boys stared intently for several seconds, Tidus’ face lowered ever-so-slowly toward Sora‘s at least…until somebody opened the door, looking at the two boys.

“Err…hey guys…” None other than the cowboy, himself walked in and spotted the two. He grinned sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. “Sorry on intruding on something, I mean I could leave and come back or-”

“No!” Tidus announced and shook his head. “We were just about to leave…”

“Well…okay…”

Sora smiled and waved Irvine good bye as Tidus grabbed his hand and dragged him out.

Whoa…what just happened? Was he about to…no…I probably have something on my face and he wanted to make sure it really was something on my face and-whatever…

Day soon came to night and the group of friend’s danced and had a fun time (although Cloud was just a little on the damp side compared to everyone else). Sora completely forgot about the little incident with Tidus. Now his mind was filled with music and laughter.

Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?
Don't cha wish your girlfriend was a freak like me?
Don't cha
Don't cha
Don't cha wish your girlfriend was raw like me?
Don't cha wish your girlfriend was fun like me?
Don't cha
Don't cha

Irvine and his group were partying with them as well and Sora had to guess that Selphie was the happiest person in the world as Irvine and her danced.

What was he doing? Well…pretty much sitting around watching everybody have fun. Cloud sat beside him, chin in hand. Sora could tell the blond didn’t really want to be there in the first place and Sora wanted to tell him to go home, but was interrupted when Tidus appeared.

“Can we talk, Sora?”

“Oh!” Caught off guard, Sora nodded, slowly. “Yeah sure!”

Following Tidus away from the group of friends, Sora stole a glance at Tidus and then to the moon. It seemed so big from were they were. Shaking his head, Sora didn’t notice that they walked under the dock. Feet sinking into the wet sand beneath him, Sora didn’t notice Tidus staring at him, until he looked up.

Geez…maybe I still have something on my face…

“Sora…”

“Huh?” Snapping out of his thoughts, Sora watched as Tidus took a step closer. He fidgeted, glancing at the water ankle-high beneath their feet.

“Remember today when I was trying to tell you something…?”

“Yeah!” Sora smiled, nodding his head.

“Well…I…ummm…kind of…sort of…” Growling out of annoyance, Tidus broke the gap and pressed Sora close to him.

“Tidus?” Blood rushing to his face, Sora felt Tidus’ warm breath hit his ear, as Tidus’ lips were almost touching it. “Tidus! Wha-”

“Sora…”

“Huh?”

“Yo u talk too much…” Tongue slithering out, Tidus began licking Sora’s earlobe, making the brunette tense and shiver.

Riku, Cloud and now Tidus! Ugh…when did he learn to do that…wait! I’m not gay…I like…ah! It feels so good…

“Tidus…”

Traveling further down, Tidus pinned Sora as he backed the brunette up into the pillar, catching the brunette’s lips in a chaste kiss. The brunette moaned, uncontrollably, bolting his eyes closed as he felt his best friend’s hands slide up and down his goose bumped arms.

“Calm down…” Tidus whispered and the brunette gradually opened his eyes. Heart palpitating at the look Tidus gave him, Sora looked down, blushing.

“Sorry…”

“Sora…” Tidus shook his head and smiled. “I never knew…”

“Honestly…” Sora chuckled, smiling shyly. “I didn’t know either…”

“I really like you Sora…” Tidus rested his forehead on the brunette’s and smiled. “I guess I can say…I love you…”

What? Is he serious?! Sora…your ears must be broken…

“I…I…”

Tidus chuckled, pulling Sora to him. “You’re so adorable Sora…”

I’m…blushing…I guess…I like Tidus too…

“Tidus…I…l-”

“Shh… ”

“But Tidus…”

“I promise Sora…I’m going to love you and protect you…always…”

Sora’s breath hitched in his throat for the second time that day as the last word reverberated through his entire body, sending small shivers of delight.

Someone…finally…cares…even mom stopped saying she loved me…Tidus…he…I…if…he really means that…I don’t care if I have to be gay to be loved…I…finally have someone to love and be loved by…

I can‘t believe I‘m saying this, but…

“I love you too, Tidus…”
