In this world unnoticed by humans a battle for the fate of the world is being fought. Human’s gifted with special powers are fighting to ensure the protection of the world from being destroyed by Demons.
Chaos that’s what you’d call my life, sheer utter chaos. My name is Alex Hikamaru. And I’m all alone in the world. My mom died while I was only eleven, four days before my twelfth birthday to be exact heh, some birthday gift. And for some reason I have no recollection of the day my mom died, or any day before that either. I don’t even remember how she died or anything about her. The only thing I know is that evidently my father killed her. I’m not sure why and neither did the police. The doctors say that the reason I have this memory loss is because they are ‘suppressed memories’, but I’m not sure that’s what it is. Every now and then pieces of my memory comes back to me, but nothing relating to my mom. I do know that I never knew my father, and I was a smart enough kid not to bring it up. I remember that it still pained my mom, so I knew what ever happened mustn’t have been that good. After my mom’s death I lived with my Grandmother until this year, the year of my 18th birthday. Ever since that day my life has become chaos. All my relatives and everyone that I knew or cared about has died in one way or another. It was as if anyone that had any connection with me was suddenly wiped off the face of the earth, everyone except for the person Alex was living with now that is.
Right now I’m living at a Japanese style dojo teaching people martial arts. My real passion however is training them in the Japanese art of sword fighting. Heh knowing my luck they'll all grow up to be assassins for some embassy. On the other hand strange things have been happening all over the world, it’s as if the whole world’s been turned upside down. Oh well I guess it’ll return to normal soon, or at least normal for my life anyway. To tell the truth if I knew how un-normal things would get I’d probably would have left town that very instant. Sigh, oh well guess that’s my luck.
“Alex get your lazy but out of bed you got a class to teach in 15 minutes hurry up.”
“Huh....Oh! shoot I’m sorry Mr. Kamegashi I’ll be there in a sec,” Alex yelled as he threw on his usual black shirt and pants, and then put on his trademark cross necklace.
*Heh, can’t forget this. This was the last thing mom gave me before she died. I can’t let anything happen to this.* he thought happily, taking his time to get ready.
“Hey better hurry up. I’m going to be downstairs repairing those swords you broke yesterday. Next time be more careful when your training okay.” Mr. Kamegashi replied.
“Heh, sure thing boss. Sorry ‘bout that.” Alex said as he entered the main part of the dojo. He and his mentor Kamegashi Takeda were like brothers. When Alex was left homeless ,to say the least, it was Kamegashi who took him in. He was the one who had initially gotten Alex interested in martial arts. He was in many ways like a father to Alex and they cared for each other deeply. Alex was always striving to gain Kamegashi’s approval, even though he knew he didn’t need it.
As Alex walked out to the front of the store he turned on the tv.
“The police still don’t know what happened but it is now known that only two swords have been stolen from this museum. The famed sword of Heaven and sword of Hell. Legend states that the two swords were used in the battle between Heaven and Hell for the fate of the entire world. The swords were taken late at night. The doors to the museum were blown off their hinges and the two security guards were both knocked out. The police arrived moments after the silent alarm was tripped, but both police cars were flipped on their sides by some unseen force.” the reporter on the tv said.
“Oy...shoot and I liked those swords too,”Alex said to himself, suddenly he realized there was someone in front of him.
“Oh ...um may I help you ?” Alex asked
“ Are you the one called the Archangel?” a girl around Alex’s age asked. Alex couldn’t make out what she looked like. All he could see was her raven black hair flowing from beneath the folds of her cloak.
“Huh what are you talking about?”
Suddenly the side wall of the building exploded and a man wearing gold and red clothing appeared. In his hands he had two circular blades!
“ Ah Jamie my dear I am surprised you got to him before us very good. Too bad for you because I’ll have to kill you now ha ha ha ha !” he cried
" Lets see which is stronger your blades or my arrows!” the girl called Jamie exclaimed while she took of her cloak and revealing her appearance for the first time. Jamie was wearing a solid black mini skirt with a white long sleeve shirt and a black vest. Out of nowhere Jamie suddenly had a bow in her hands. Also somehow, she managed to form what looked like an arrow made out of energy.
There was a fierce battle as from what Alex could tell each person had mental control over there weapons. Jamie fired her arrows with speed an accuracy, but right before they were about to hit the man the arrows were suddenly deflected by an unseen shield. Then man flipped behind Jamie and was caught by a fierce kick in the back. The man twirled around quickly and this time caught Jamie’s leg before she could kick again. He then slung her backwards towards what was left of the demolished wall. The man charged in at her, his blades aimed for her head. Jamie back flipped off of the wall behind her and launched several arrows at the man. Before the arrows hit him however, he simply disappeared! When Jamie landed she was caught off guard by a quick punch to the stomach. The man tossed Jamie’s bow aside and lifted her off the ground by her throat!
“ Stop let her go. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but I can’t sit by and let you hurt her. I won’t let you lay another finger on her.” Alex yelled. In all reality at the time he had no idea what he was doing. All that he knew was that he couldn’t let this girl get hurt on his account.
“Such bravado. But what else could I expect for someone such as yourself. Oh well your mistake now its time for you to die !” he screamed. He threw Jamie into a nearby wall and quickly launched both of his circular blades at Alex.
“ Final Strike!” the man yelled as suddenly the two blades began to glow with energy. Right before they reached Alex, by some miracle he was able to grab a training sword that was lying on the ground near him after the first explosion. The two circular blades collided with Alex’s training sword, the sword quickly began to crack under the pressure. Suddenly, with out warning the blade began to glow with energy and Alex was able to parry against the attack. The two circular blades returned to the man, who now had a stunned expression on his face. At this time Alex’s eyes had begun to glow. The light was faint, but the man could tell what was happening.
“Hmm...it appears I have arrived here too late. Oh well. I will leave for now. You’ve won this battle Jamie but believe me you haven’t won the war. Oh and you Archangel. Even for your weak power level I must commend you. I was only using about ten percent of my power on that attack but even then you shouldn’t have been able to block it. I am thoroughly impressed. Only my Dark Lord the Angel of Death could block that attack even with it being only ten percent.” the man declared.” Farewell, until next time.”
With that last declaration the man suddenly disappeared leaving only the destroyed wall and scorch marks from their fight as any indication that he had even been there.
"Okay will someone please tell me what just happened here " Alex asked.
"Heh, your cute when your confused." Jamie coyly replied. Shocking herself with her own remark.
*Why in the world would I say that. I just met him besides how could I say something like that to someone like him!* Jamie contemplated.
“Umm anyway...if you’d like some answers please come with me.” Jamie answered as she regained her composure.
"Y-yeah, sure I’ll go." Alex declared. He too was shocked at the young woman’s response. Shocked but pleased. He couldn’t place his finger on why he felt like he did when he was around her, but without any rational thought he followed to her.
In a few minutes they were at what might at first glance be taken for a run down warehouse, once inside however it was like a whole other world. There were two stories to the warehouse. The top floor had several nicely furnished and decorated rooms, along with a luxurious kitchen. The bottom floor had an enormous living room, with a couch, a computer, and a very large tv, it also seemed to have a training room of some kind, full of all types of weights and weapons. Jamie then led Alex to an what seemed like just a plain ordinary wall, until Jamie pressed her hand against it. Suddenly the wall gave way, revealing a secret passage that led below the warehouse. When Jamie and Alex descended Alex saw what seemed to be an enormous underground cave. The entire area was at least the length of four football fields, and the roof of the cave was high enough to fit another building inside of. Alex noticed that the cave was not naturally made due to the smooth rocks and glossy appearance. Finally Jamie stopped in the middle of the cave. there Alex met the strangest people he had ever encountered in his entire life. There were four people sitting down on metal chairs in front of an enormous metal table. The first person Alex saw was a girl, also around his age. She had on blue jeans with a green shirt and a brown jacket. The next person resembled a Chinese monk. He had long spiky black hair, glasses, white dress pants along with a white dress shirt with a blue line around the collar and continuing down the middle of the shirt. The next person wore a simple skin tight black sleeveless shirt, along with black baggy pants with chains hanging off of them. He also had a chain necklace and a black wristband on either arm covered in crosses. The final person was wearing black skin tight shirt and black skin tight pants. Along the pants were an assortment of chains. He was also wearing black and silver metallic gauntlets.
"Alex these people are the Guardians, the sole protectors of the earth"
" There names are Ashley, Sasuka, Lyle, shadow , and me oh by the way my name is Jamie."
" Who in the world are you people?"
“Before we get to that let me ask you something. Today, when you were attacked at the dojo. You grabbed that training sword and right before that other guy’s attack shattered your sword you channeled energy into it didn’t you?”
“Heh, so I guess you guys are for real. Yeah I channeled some of my energy into it.”
“So you’ve probably known for some time you were different that normal people. Or else you wouldn’t have the skill required to channel energy into a weapon yet. Probably you’ve known since you were little, am I right?” Sasuka asked.
“Yeah your right. My powers awoke about six years ago.”
" How did your powers awaken?" Jamie inquired.
" Well when I was 12 I had just moved in with my grandmother. Well, I wasn’t exactly the nicest kid back then and didn’t make friends to easily. So one guy that I had made mad attacked me after school one day. He and a few of his friends assaulted me and beat me up pretty bad. I had been cut a few times with a knife they had, then they had chained me up to a wall planning what they should do with me. I’m not quite sure what happened exactly but when the leader came up and held the knife to my throat it was like my instincts just took over. I somehow managed to break the chains that were holding me to the wall. Then my hand began to glow and my hand felt like it was on fire. It was then that they all tried to corner me. I raised my hand by instinct and a light flashed from it and all the heat in my hand was gone, so were the thugs who were in front of me. All that was left was pile’s of ashes. I wasn’t sure what happened that day, but since it I’ve been trying to improve upon the powers that I had learned."
“ So you knew that you had a power even when you were little. Hmm, I guess that would explain why your energy aura is stronger than I had expected it to be. I would have thought your powers would have remained dormant until we found you. Guess I was wrong." Ashley said.
"So you guys have the same kinda power I do right? Because from what I saw Jamie do today it sure does seem like it.” Alex said.
"Well, yes and no. Yes we do have the same kind of power that you have. Its sort of like a spiritual energy you could say. It makes us stronger and faster than normal humans. Also it allows us, as you already know to use energy attacks, also it enables us to heal wounds faster than normal humans. But your power Alex is on a different level than ours, so to speak.” Jamie said.
“Oookay why is that?”
“Because Alex you are the Archangel the one that will defeat the Angel of Death and save the earth. We have been at war now for quite some time with Death and his group of warriors. We needed to find you before Death did because he wanted to make sure your powers didn’t fully awake. You must help us.”
“Heh, yeah right look for a minute I thought you guys might be for real and not just some kids living a fantasy life. If there was a war going on don’t you think people would have noticed something with all the energy blast and weapons wielding. I mean come on. Look it’s been fun, really it has, but now I’m out”
“Alex only you can save the earth. Don’t you realize if you don’t help us everyone you care about will die.”
" You see we've gathered here for the final battle we are the Guardians. We are the sole protectors of the earth. We are here to fight against Death and his group calling themselves Demons, in reality they are people with powers just like us. But, they are trying to bring forth real Demons to earth, by opening a gateway to the Demon World .We are people whose normal body energy is greater than normal humans, we are not the only ones with these powers though there are others that also have powers but of a different sort. You on the other hand are on a whole other scale. You are the Archangel the ultimate Guardian of earth you are the only one strong enough to defeat Death. we need your help. Also if you join us you must claim your sword The Sword of Heaven. It and another were at the museum until last night when one of them was stolen they both would have been stolen if Lyle and Sasuka had not stopped them they brought the other blade here for you when you came. So here is my question to you will you help us ?"
“Oy...look that’s were you’re wrong you see I don’t care about anyone. I mean what’s the point. It seems like everyone I ever cared about dies. So I figured I’d just save them some grief and not care anymore. You have no idea how it is to know that everyone you loved or cared about died because they knew you. So as far as I see nothings really keeping me here so I don’t really care what happens” and with that Alex left the warehouse. As Alex left he heard Jamie call to him saying.
" Wait you are the one, the one to save humanity you must join us for it is your destiny"
"Hate to break it to you Jamie, but there’s no way this punk can be the Archangel" Sasuka said to Jamie.
“No...he is the destined one. I feel the pain of his heart. How sad it must be for him. I now see why he doesn’t want to fight...and I am sorry that he will have to for it is his destiny.”Jamie said with her head held down” Sasuka, you Lyle , Ashley ,and Shadow follow him. The I will catch up with you in a second okay”
“Sure thing boss”Sasuka said jokingly “Let’s go you wimps” he said as he jumped up and ran out the door with Lyle chasing after him. Shadow just disappeared.
As Alex walked away he noticed that Lyle , Ashley, and Sasuka were following him, but he didn’t care he just wanted out of there. Alex began to run as he zigged and zagged through the back alleyways, soon losing sight of his shadows.
Alex leaned against the brick wall behind him as he breathed a sigh of relief.
*This is crazy! I mean just this morning I was minding my own business getting ready to teach a class when all Hell breaks...Oh no Mr. Kagmegashi!* Alex thought as he ran quickly in the direction of the dojo. The sight that awaited him made Alex fall to his knee’s. The dojo had been completely decimated, the burning remnants gave a faint glow over the body of Alex’s mentor.
Alex slowly began to rise when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Alex looked up to see Jamie standing next to him. All the rage and confusion Alex had felt exploded when he saw her. He immediately shrugged her hand off of him.
“It’s all your fault! If you had never come into the dojo today none of this would have ever happened!” Alex exclaimed.
“Alex if I had let you be, they surely would have killed you by now” Jamie said calmly.
“I-I know. They came for me, either way this would have happened but still why me? What’s so special about me. Why am I this chosen one? What makes you think that I’m the Archangel? For that matter how do you know so much about all this?” Alex said.
“ It was your mentor that told us. Mr. Kamegashi came to our parents about twelve years ago when we were still children. He explained the situation to them and at first they acted like you, with disbelief. But when our powers awoke he was there. He took all of us to different masters all over the world. We didn’t know about each other, that was the way he wanted it. We were to be trained until the time was right. Even as a small girl my master told me about the prophecy of the Archangel and about his role and mine in the fate of the Earth. Finally about five months ago I was told to come here to find you. When I arrived your master greeted me and brought me here. That’s where I met everyone else. He said that you still didn’t know about your destiny and that unlike us you would have to find out about it yourself. Unfortunately our plans were compromised by that freak with the blades attacking. We received information that they had found you so I tried to get to you before them. The rest you know.” Jamie said.
“So Mr. Kamegashi knew? But why wouldn’t he tell me? It just doesn’t make sense. If he knew, then he knew he was going to die. WHY! Why would he risk his life for me! How am I suppose to save the Earth!” Alex yelled out of anger, frustration, fear, and mostly sadness.
“I have faith in you Alex. You are the chosen one for a reason. And no matter what I will always be by your side. I know right now you need some time by yourself. But remember your are no longer alone. You have friends.” Jamie said quietly “ When the time is right, you know where to find us.”
Jamie left as Alex got up. Rain steadily began to pour down as Alex walked through the streets later that night thinking about everything.
* This has been one hell of a day. Why can’t I have a normal day just once! I swear someone up there hates me* Alex thought *But what should I do. Do I go with the Guardians and fight and accept this destiny thing. Or should I simply ignore it and try to start over. I can’t do the last, simply because all I’d be doing is running away. And I’m just to stubborn to run away from a fight. Also, why do I feel so strange around Jamie? Surely I can’t like her. I mean I just met her.*
Suddenly someone stepped out in front of him. From the outline Alex could tell it was a girl.
“Jamie is that you?” Alex asked uncertainly. Suddenly the girl raised her hand into the light revealing four razor sharp claws.
“Ah shit, not another one.” Alex said as the girl charged towards him. The girl slashed the place Alex had been standing. Alex jumped off the wall next to him and flipped behind her. Alex knocked her down with a small energy blast. The girl flipped up and shot her leg towards Alex, knocking Alex’s feet out from under him. By the time Alex hit the ground the girl had already jumped up and sliced Alex across the chest with her claws.
“Ahhh” Alex said as the girl stabbed him in the arm with her other hand. Alex was able to twist his arm free and knock the girl off of him. Alex quickly grabbed each of her hands by her wrists and got her in a very painful arm lock.
“Now I’m going to ask you real nicely to leave got it? Cause I don’t like fighting girls. Especially ones that have razor sharp claws that look and feel really painful. Now that I think about it, haven’t I seen those on a horror movie one time” Alex said thoughtfully. That’s when the girl twisted out his arm lock and flipped backwards and kicked him in the chest. Before he hit the wall Alex had set his foot on the wall and ricocheted toward the girl Alex energized his fist as he nailed the girl full force in her stomach. The girl doubled over in pain but still stood strong against him.
“For crying out loud. What’s it going to take for you people to leave me alone!” Alex yelled.
“You’ll have to kill me” the girl said ready to strike.
“You picked one hell of a day to tell me that. Normally I would have laughed, but today your not so lucky.” Alex said, suddenly he disappeared and reappeared right in front of the girl. His hand right in front of her face glowing with energy.
“Now, I’m not in a really good mood, but I still don’t think it’s right to kill a girl. So I’ll give you til the count of three to leave, otherwise I don’t really give a damn.” Alex said, he could tell the girl was contemplating what she should do. “One,...Two,...Thr-“
“Heh, very well. My master will be pleased by your progress Archangel. He doesn’t want to kill you too quickly. Farewell for now.” the girl said, underneath her a portal opened and she disappeared.
“This just isn’t my day” Alex said as he slumped up against the wall, checking out the wounds he had received. Alex noticed that one of the cut’s had come pretty close to a vital organ.
*Should I go to a hospital? No, cause then they would want to know what happened to me. I don’t know which would be less believable, me getting attacked by a lion, or me getting attacked by a crazy woman with butcher knives for fingernails. Wait, maybe they could help. But I’m still too dang prideful and too stubborn to admit I was wrong. I couldn’t impose on them, after all I didn’t exactly leave that good of an impression on them before.* Alex thought.
“You know, you might want to get those checked out” A voice said from a dark alleyway.
Even though he had only heard it a few times, Alex had already memorized it.
“Were you watching the whole thing? Or did you just happen to walk by and notice me slowly bleeding to death” Alex said sarcastically.
“Well, a little bit of both you see. I had to see how strong you were, also if you were willing to take a human life.” Jamie said as she stepped out of the darkness.
“Heh, you and your freaking tests. Well did I pass.”
“Hmm, that’s not important. Right now we have to get those wounds checked out” Jamie said quickly changing the subject as she came up close to Alex. She grabbed his hand to help him up.
*Man she looks beautiful and her hair smells so wonderful. Lord, I can’t take my eyes off of her.* Alex thought as he gazed resiliently at her eyes. Jamie quickly turned her eyes away from him as he stood up.
*Why does my stomach feel like butterflies when he looks at me like that?* Jamie thought. Suddenly Lyle and Sasuka ran up.
“Hey you guys ok?” Lyle asked that’s when he saw Alex “Dang, looks like you either had a run in with a mean lion, or you made Jamie mad. Which one is it?” Lyle asked as he let Alex lean on him.
“That’s so not funny.” Jamie said as she rolled her eyes and slapped Lyle on the arm.
“See I told ya” Lyle joked.
“Heh, well let’s get you taken care of” Sasuka said as they made their way back towards the warehouse.
“Here ya go Alex” Ashley said as she handed him an ice pack for his head.
“Heh thanks.” Alex said as he gingerly placed the ice pack on his sore head. His flesh wounds had for the most part already healed due to his energy increasing his healing ability.
The next morning Alex got up early for a change.
*Man, what a night. I don’t think I got a wink of sleep last night. Whenever I closed my eyes all I had was nightmares. I think I need to take a walk.* Alex thought as he quietly snuck out of the warehouse.
“This feels so good. Nothing beats a good walk this early in the morning. The air is so fresh and crisp. I should really do this more often.” Alex said as he briskly walked down the street.
“Saskuka, Ashley, Lyle, and Shadow. Make sure he doesn’t get attacked again okay. This time they won’t make the same mistake twice.” Jamie said as she watched Alex cross the street. “I’ll be with you shortly.”
Alex wasn’t paying much attention as he walked. It wasn’t until he felt a faint energy source behind him that he noticed Lyle, Sasuka and Ashley coming up behind him.
*I just can’t deal with them right now. I really just need some time alone.” Alex thought as he hurried his pace to try to get away from them.
All of a sudden three people popped out . The first person Alex noted was a giant in stature with bulging muscles. The person standing next to him had shoulder length blonde hair and was dressed luxuriously twirling a rose in his hand. The last person was average height with a muscular build wearing blue jeans with no shirt and had taped up hands, as if he was a boxer.
Alex was in too big of a hurry to try to dodge them so he collided with the big man.
“Huh oh I’m sorry sir” Alex said as he turned to leave when a strong hand grabbed him and turned him around.
“Hey what’s up? I said I was sorry.” Alex said as he looked the big man in the eyes.
“Oh I know your sorry, but I’m about to make you even more sorry.” the man said gruffly. The man swung his fist quickly aimed for Alex’s head. Alex ducked and kicked his opponents feet out from under him. Alex then came up with a powerful uppercut knocking the man flat on his back. The other two by that time surrounded Alex. The big man then got up to his feet and rubbed his jaw.
“Heh, nice punch kid. Now its my turn” as the man said that, a steel hammer appeared in his hand. The man’s eyes glowed with power as he pointed the hammer at Alex.
“Now Archangel, let’s see this awesome power of yours”
“Oy...your one of them aren’t you”Alex said “Well let’s see you try this on for size”
Alex ran towards the big man, just barely dodging the wide swing of the hammer and managed to get behind the giant. Alex then aimed an energized punch at the man’s back. There was a loud crack as Alex’s fist collided with the man’s back.
“Oww” Alex said as he clutched his hand.
“You disgust me. Only a coward attacks a man from behind.” the giant said. Suddenly the man was knocked back by an energized card. Sasuka, Lyle, and Ashley had arrived.
“Hmm, serves you right for running away from us.” Ashley said mockingly seeing Alex laying on the ground, “but you look so cute laying there we just had to help ya.”
“These are more of Death’s goons. The building with hair as you’ve noticed is like a steel wall. I wouldn’t advise getting into a fist fight with him.” Lyle said as his spear appeared in his hand.
Lyle immediately charged the man holding the rose. Lyle struck numerous times with his spear, each attacked aimed for a vital spot on the body. Each one hitting only air. The man dodged every attack with ease. No matter where Lyle aimed or how fast his attack was the man was one step ahead of him. Finally the man blocked one of Lyle’s attacks with his rose, which had taken on the form of a pole of thorns. Lyle was temporarily off balance but managed to gain his balance quickly enough to block the man’s attack. It wasn’t until Lyle tried to move that he found that his legs were ensnared by vines which had sprung from the ground. No matter how hard he tried to pull the vines wouldn’t budge.
“Heh try as you might no one can escape from the Devil’s Snare once it’s got hold of you. Not unless I let you, that is.” the man said as he watched the other’s battle.
Sasuka had already managed to corner the boxer, but he still hadn’t been able to hit him. The boxer was extremely fast and strong. With every punch he threw at Sasuka and ball of energy flew from his fist! Sasuka was barely able to dodge one of the attacks which grazed his cheek. Sasuka felt the warm blood rolling down his cheek but he didn’t have time to wipe it off, for now he was too busy dodging and blocking the relentless attacks by his opponent to pay his wound much attention. The boxer hadn’t even broken a sweat when he managed to break Sasuka’s defenses and land a punch on Sasuka’s mid section. Sasuka doubled over in pain but still kept fighting. The boxer then nailed Sasuka with a spinning energy kick which sprawled Sasuka out on the ground. The boxer then pinned Sasuka to the ground with an energized hand in front of Sasuka’s face.
“If you don’t want to die, then don’t struggle.” the man said evilly as he looked up to see how his comrades were doing.
Ashley tried her best to damage the giant standing in front of her but nothing harmed him. Her weapons, even with the blades out, simply bounced off of him. The blades couldn’t even cut him! Ashley was exasperated that anyone could be that strong. The man was simply laughing at her attempts to even damage him.
“This is pathetic! These are the Guardians of Earth. These are the one’s who are supposed to stop us from destroying this accursed place. Hah, I Osuka, could easily kill every single one here.” Osuka stated plainly as he caught Ashley’s weapon’s in his hands. He then swung her from her own weapons and smashed her into a wooden fence. Ashley had the wind knocked out of her momentarily, before she could recover the giant whipped her weapons again, sending her flying towards the man with the rose.
“Ah, now this is my kinda rain.” the man said as he caught Ashley in mid-air and flipped her onto the ground next to Lyle. Before Ashley could get up, she too was caught by the Devil’s Snare.
“Now time for the supreme Archangel.” Osuka said mockingly as he advanced upon Alex. The man swung his hammer at Alex trying to crush Alex with a single powerful blow, but Alex managed to stop the attack by creating an energy shield to deflect it.
“Heh, so your not as weak as you appear to be. Oh well, your still no where strong enough to stop me.” Osuka said as he assaulted Alex’s shield with one powerful attack after another. Finally Alex’s shield shattered under the force and Alex was sent flying into a nearby wall from the force of the attack. Osuka was coming in for the final strike upon Alex before Alex could recover when suddenly Osuka was knocked to his knee’s by an energy attack. There standing behind him was Jamie.
“I would like it if you’d quit hurting my friends.” Jamie said coldly as she aimed her arrow towards the man.
“Heh, do you really believe that little toy could hurt me.” Osuka asked.
“Well, let’s find out.” Jamie said as she launched her arrow. Right before it hit the man the arrow erupted with energy blinding him for a second. Jamie was quickly upon him in that time and sent him smashing into a brick wall with an energy attack.
“You little bitch! I’ll make you pay for that!” Osuka yelled as he ran towards her in a blind rage. Jamie dodged most of his attacks, and was getting ready to launch her own attack when she was attacked from behind. The boxer had snuck up behind her and was now keeping her from moving.
“Now now girly, no need for a struggle” the boxer said as he applied a pressure point to the back of Jamie’s neck which made her legs go numb.
“Jamie!” Sasuka yelled, from next to Lyle and Ashley. The boxer had let the man with the rose add him to his rapidly growing collection of Guardians.
“Now you’ll pay you bitch. Juggernaut Slash!” the man yelled as he unleashed his ultimate attack. He swung his hammer with incredible force above his head. Combining his already enormous strength with the increasing force of the hammer being swung in a circular motion, all the time gaining energy from Osuka. Finally he swung the hammer. The force of the hammer connected with Jamie’s body with a sickening thud sending her smashing into and demolishing a brick wall. The man then went to pick up the limp form of Jamie.
Alex who had been covered by bricks from when Osuka had destroyed the brick wall got up in time to see what happened to Jamie. Alex’s anger began to rise as he could feel his energy increasing.
“Don’t you dare lay a hand on her!” Alex screamed as his eyes glowed with power. The faint outline of wings could be made out on his back as his hands also began to glow.
“Ah so your still alive eh” Osuka said as he turned around to face the kid. However no one was there.
“Looking for me?” a voice asked from behind Osuka. When Osuka turned around he was met with an energized fist which sent him flying backwards. Before he finished his backwards decent he was halted by Alex who was waiting with an energy blast. The attack knocked Osuka to the ground, he was badly wounded by the attack and you could tell he wasn’t used to feeling pain.
“H-how could you be this strong?” Osuka asked as Alex advanced upon him. Suddenly portals opened up beneath Osuka, the boxer and the man with the rose and teleported them away.
It was then that Shadow came up and freed Lyle, Sasuka, and Ashley from the Devil’s Snare.
“What happened here?” Shadow asked.
“We had a run in with Death’s goons.” Ashley replied as they all ran towards Jamie.
" Yeah where were you , you were supposed to be with us where did you go" Lyle asked?
" I stopped to check something out. I thought I had seen some more of Death’s henchmen. It turned out I was right, but they disappeared before I could find out what they were doing."Shadow replied
Jamie wasn’t moving and was barely breathing. It was evident that she had several broken ribs, and numerous other injuries from the attack.
“You guys have to get her to a hospital immediately.” Alex stated as Sasuka and Lyle helped to pick her up.
“Look, you guys go ahead and take her to the hospital. It looks like you guys need to get check up to.” Alex said.
"Your right we probably should get checked up" Lyle said
"Okay lets go"Ashley said
“Hey, I’ll catch up with you guys in a second okay. I’ll meet you guys at the hospital.” Alex suddenly said as he started to run off quickly.
“You better! You can’t keep running away from this.” Lyle said as he helped Sasuka with Jamie.
"We’ll meet you there, we’re headed to the hospital by the river." Sasuka yelled to the fleeting figure of Alex. It was evident that heard Sasuka’s directions as he waved his hand in acknowledgment.
* I don’t know why but I feel a strange energy source nearby. Its as if it’s calling to me. I have to find out what it is, but I’ll have to do it quickly I have to make sure Jamie’s okay.* Alex thought as he jumped from building to building in search of the source. Finally when Alex arrived at a construction sight he knew he had arrived. A figure appeared before him wearing a black cloak and a black mask.
“Oy ...must be my day to be attacked by strange goons today"Alex yelled
"I see you were able to locate my energy signal. It seems our energies have a natural calling to one another. Such is the force of Life and Death. So, you are the one the Archangel. Somehow I had envisioned you be much stronger looking. Well, now I’ll be able to see how strong your really are. I want to test your power, compared to that of mine. Let’s see just how strong the Archangel is compared to the wielder of Death !" the stranger said.
Chaos that’s what you’d call my life, sheer utter chaos. My name is Alex Hikamaru. And I’m all alone in the world. My mom died while I was only eleven, four days before my twelfth birthday to be exact heh, some birthday gift. And for some reason I have no recollection of the day my mom died, or any day before that either. I don’t even remember how she died or anything about her. The only thing I know is that evidently my father killed her. I’m not sure why and neither did the police. The doctors say that the reason I have this memory loss is because they are ‘suppressed memories’, but I’m not sure that’s what it is. Every now and then pieces of my memory comes back to me, but nothing relating to my mom. I do know that I never knew my father, and I was a smart enough kid not to bring it up. I remember that it still pained my mom, so I knew what ever happened mustn’t have been that good. After my mom’s death I lived with my Grandmother until this year, the year of my 18th birthday. Ever since that day my life has become chaos. All my relatives and everyone that I knew or cared about has died in one way or another. It was as if anyone that had any connection with me was suddenly wiped off the face of the earth, everyone except for the person Alex was living with now that is.
Right now I’m living at a Japanese style dojo teaching people martial arts. My real passion however is training them in the Japanese art of sword fighting. Heh knowing my luck they'll all grow up to be assassins for some embassy. On the other hand strange things have been happening all over the world, it’s as if the whole world’s been turned upside down. Oh well I guess it’ll return to normal soon, or at least normal for my life anyway. To tell the truth if I knew how un-normal things would get I’d probably would have left town that very instant. Sigh, oh well guess that’s my luck.
“Alex get your lazy but out of bed you got a class to teach in 15 minutes hurry up.”
“Huh....Oh! shoot I’m sorry Mr. Kamegashi I’ll be there in a sec,” Alex yelled as he threw on his usual black shirt and pants, and then put on his trademark cross necklace.
*Heh, can’t forget this. This was the last thing mom gave me before she died. I can’t let anything happen to this.* he thought happily, taking his time to get ready.
“Hey better hurry up. I’m going to be downstairs repairing those swords you broke yesterday. Next time be more careful when your training okay.” Mr. Kamegashi replied.
“Heh, sure thing boss. Sorry ‘bout that.” Alex said as he entered the main part of the dojo. He and his mentor Kamegashi Takeda were like brothers. When Alex was left homeless ,to say the least, it was Kamegashi who took him in. He was the one who had initially gotten Alex interested in martial arts. He was in many ways like a father to Alex and they cared for each other deeply. Alex was always striving to gain Kamegashi’s approval, even though he knew he didn’t need it.
As Alex walked out to the front of the store he turned on the tv.
“The police still don’t know what happened but it is now known that only two swords have been stolen from this museum. The famed sword of Heaven and sword of Hell. Legend states that the two swords were used in the battle between Heaven and Hell for the fate of the entire world. The swords were taken late at night. The doors to the museum were blown off their hinges and the two security guards were both knocked out. The police arrived moments after the silent alarm was tripped, but both police cars were flipped on their sides by some unseen force.” the reporter on the tv said.
“Oy...shoot and I liked those swords too,”Alex said to himself, suddenly he realized there was someone in front of him.
“Oh ...um may I help you ?” Alex asked
“ Are you the one called the Archangel?” a girl around Alex’s age asked. Alex couldn’t make out what she looked like. All he could see was her raven black hair flowing from beneath the folds of her cloak.
“Huh what are you talking about?”
Suddenly the side wall of the building exploded and a man wearing gold and red clothing appeared. In his hands he had two circular blades!
“ Ah Jamie my dear I am surprised you got to him before us very good. Too bad for you because I’ll have to kill you now ha ha ha ha !” he cried
" Lets see which is stronger your blades or my arrows!” the girl called Jamie exclaimed while she took of her cloak and revealing her appearance for the first time. Jamie was wearing a solid black mini skirt with a white long sleeve shirt and a black vest. Out of nowhere Jamie suddenly had a bow in her hands. Also somehow, she managed to form what looked like an arrow made out of energy.
There was a fierce battle as from what Alex could tell each person had mental control over there weapons. Jamie fired her arrows with speed an accuracy, but right before they were about to hit the man the arrows were suddenly deflected by an unseen shield. Then man flipped behind Jamie and was caught by a fierce kick in the back. The man twirled around quickly and this time caught Jamie’s leg before she could kick again. He then slung her backwards towards what was left of the demolished wall. The man charged in at her, his blades aimed for her head. Jamie back flipped off of the wall behind her and launched several arrows at the man. Before the arrows hit him however, he simply disappeared! When Jamie landed she was caught off guard by a quick punch to the stomach. The man tossed Jamie’s bow aside and lifted her off the ground by her throat!
“ Stop let her go. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but I can’t sit by and let you hurt her. I won’t let you lay another finger on her.” Alex yelled. In all reality at the time he had no idea what he was doing. All that he knew was that he couldn’t let this girl get hurt on his account.
“Such bravado. But what else could I expect for someone such as yourself. Oh well your mistake now its time for you to die !” he screamed. He threw Jamie into a nearby wall and quickly launched both of his circular blades at Alex.
“ Final Strike!” the man yelled as suddenly the two blades began to glow with energy. Right before they reached Alex, by some miracle he was able to grab a training sword that was lying on the ground near him after the first explosion. The two circular blades collided with Alex’s training sword, the sword quickly began to crack under the pressure. Suddenly, with out warning the blade began to glow with energy and Alex was able to parry against the attack. The two circular blades returned to the man, who now had a stunned expression on his face. At this time Alex’s eyes had begun to glow. The light was faint, but the man could tell what was happening.
“Hmm...it appears I have arrived here too late. Oh well. I will leave for now. You’ve won this battle Jamie but believe me you haven’t won the war. Oh and you Archangel. Even for your weak power level I must commend you. I was only using about ten percent of my power on that attack but even then you shouldn’t have been able to block it. I am thoroughly impressed. Only my Dark Lord the Angel of Death could block that attack even with it being only ten percent.” the man declared.” Farewell, until next time.”
With that last declaration the man suddenly disappeared leaving only the destroyed wall and scorch marks from their fight as any indication that he had even been there.
"Okay will someone please tell me what just happened here " Alex asked.
"Heh, your cute when your confused." Jamie coyly replied. Shocking herself with her own remark.
*Why in the world would I say that. I just met him besides how could I say something like that to someone like him!* Jamie contemplated.
“Umm anyway...if you’d like some answers please come with me.” Jamie answered as she regained her composure.
"Y-yeah, sure I’ll go." Alex declared. He too was shocked at the young woman’s response. Shocked but pleased. He couldn’t place his finger on why he felt like he did when he was around her, but without any rational thought he followed to her.
In a few minutes they were at what might at first glance be taken for a run down warehouse, once inside however it was like a whole other world. There were two stories to the warehouse. The top floor had several nicely furnished and decorated rooms, along with a luxurious kitchen. The bottom floor had an enormous living room, with a couch, a computer, and a very large tv, it also seemed to have a training room of some kind, full of all types of weights and weapons. Jamie then led Alex to an what seemed like just a plain ordinary wall, until Jamie pressed her hand against it. Suddenly the wall gave way, revealing a secret passage that led below the warehouse. When Jamie and Alex descended Alex saw what seemed to be an enormous underground cave. The entire area was at least the length of four football fields, and the roof of the cave was high enough to fit another building inside of. Alex noticed that the cave was not naturally made due to the smooth rocks and glossy appearance. Finally Jamie stopped in the middle of the cave. there Alex met the strangest people he had ever encountered in his entire life. There were four people sitting down on metal chairs in front of an enormous metal table. The first person Alex saw was a girl, also around his age. She had on blue jeans with a green shirt and a brown jacket. The next person resembled a Chinese monk. He had long spiky black hair, glasses, white dress pants along with a white dress shirt with a blue line around the collar and continuing down the middle of the shirt. The next person wore a simple skin tight black sleeveless shirt, along with black baggy pants with chains hanging off of them. He also had a chain necklace and a black wristband on either arm covered in crosses. The final person was wearing black skin tight shirt and black skin tight pants. Along the pants were an assortment of chains. He was also wearing black and silver metallic gauntlets.
"Alex these people are the Guardians, the sole protectors of the earth"
" There names are Ashley, Sasuka, Lyle, shadow , and me oh by the way my name is Jamie."
" Who in the world are you people?"
“Before we get to that let me ask you something. Today, when you were attacked at the dojo. You grabbed that training sword and right before that other guy’s attack shattered your sword you channeled energy into it didn’t you?”
“Heh, so I guess you guys are for real. Yeah I channeled some of my energy into it.”
“So you’ve probably known for some time you were different that normal people. Or else you wouldn’t have the skill required to channel energy into a weapon yet. Probably you’ve known since you were little, am I right?” Sasuka asked.
“Yeah your right. My powers awoke about six years ago.”
" How did your powers awaken?" Jamie inquired.
" Well when I was 12 I had just moved in with my grandmother. Well, I wasn’t exactly the nicest kid back then and didn’t make friends to easily. So one guy that I had made mad attacked me after school one day. He and a few of his friends assaulted me and beat me up pretty bad. I had been cut a few times with a knife they had, then they had chained me up to a wall planning what they should do with me. I’m not quite sure what happened exactly but when the leader came up and held the knife to my throat it was like my instincts just took over. I somehow managed to break the chains that were holding me to the wall. Then my hand began to glow and my hand felt like it was on fire. It was then that they all tried to corner me. I raised my hand by instinct and a light flashed from it and all the heat in my hand was gone, so were the thugs who were in front of me. All that was left was pile’s of ashes. I wasn’t sure what happened that day, but since it I’ve been trying to improve upon the powers that I had learned."
“ So you knew that you had a power even when you were little. Hmm, I guess that would explain why your energy aura is stronger than I had expected it to be. I would have thought your powers would have remained dormant until we found you. Guess I was wrong." Ashley said.
"So you guys have the same kinda power I do right? Because from what I saw Jamie do today it sure does seem like it.” Alex said.
"Well, yes and no. Yes we do have the same kind of power that you have. Its sort of like a spiritual energy you could say. It makes us stronger and faster than normal humans. Also it allows us, as you already know to use energy attacks, also it enables us to heal wounds faster than normal humans. But your power Alex is on a different level than ours, so to speak.” Jamie said.
“Oookay why is that?”
“Because Alex you are the Archangel the one that will defeat the Angel of Death and save the earth. We have been at war now for quite some time with Death and his group of warriors. We needed to find you before Death did because he wanted to make sure your powers didn’t fully awake. You must help us.”
“Heh, yeah right look for a minute I thought you guys might be for real and not just some kids living a fantasy life. If there was a war going on don’t you think people would have noticed something with all the energy blast and weapons wielding. I mean come on. Look it’s been fun, really it has, but now I’m out”
“Alex only you can save the earth. Don’t you realize if you don’t help us everyone you care about will die.”
" You see we've gathered here for the final battle we are the Guardians. We are the sole protectors of the earth. We are here to fight against Death and his group calling themselves Demons, in reality they are people with powers just like us. But, they are trying to bring forth real Demons to earth, by opening a gateway to the Demon World .We are people whose normal body energy is greater than normal humans, we are not the only ones with these powers though there are others that also have powers but of a different sort. You on the other hand are on a whole other scale. You are the Archangel the ultimate Guardian of earth you are the only one strong enough to defeat Death. we need your help. Also if you join us you must claim your sword The Sword of Heaven. It and another were at the museum until last night when one of them was stolen they both would have been stolen if Lyle and Sasuka had not stopped them they brought the other blade here for you when you came. So here is my question to you will you help us ?"
“Oy...look that’s were you’re wrong you see I don’t care about anyone. I mean what’s the point. It seems like everyone I ever cared about dies. So I figured I’d just save them some grief and not care anymore. You have no idea how it is to know that everyone you loved or cared about died because they knew you. So as far as I see nothings really keeping me here so I don’t really care what happens” and with that Alex left the warehouse. As Alex left he heard Jamie call to him saying.
"Hate to break it to you Jamie, but there’s no way this punk can be the Archangel" Sasuka said to Jamie.
“No...he is the destined one. I feel the pain of his heart. How sad it must be for him. I now see why he doesn’t want to fight...and I am sorry that he will have to for it is his destiny.”Jamie said with her head held down” Sasuka, you Lyle , Ashley ,and Shadow follow him. The I will catch up with you in a second okay”
“Sure thing boss”Sasuka said jokingly “Let’s go you wimps” he said as he jumped up and ran out the door with Lyle chasing after him. Shadow just disappeared.
As Alex walked away he noticed that Lyle , Ashley, and Sasuka were following him, but he didn’t care he just wanted out of there. Alex began to run as he zigged and zagged through the back alleyways, soon losing sight of his shadows.
Alex leaned against the brick wall behind him as he breathed a sigh of relief.
*This is crazy! I mean just this morning I was minding my own business getting ready to teach a class when all Hell breaks...Oh no Mr. Kagmegashi!* Alex thought as he ran quickly in the direction of the dojo. The sight that awaited him made Alex fall to his knee’s. The dojo had been completely decimated, the burning remnants gave a faint glow over the body of Alex’s mentor.
Alex slowly began to rise when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Alex looked up to see Jamie standing next to him. All the rage and confusion Alex had felt exploded when he saw her. He immediately shrugged her hand off of him.
“It’s all your fault! If you had never come into the dojo today none of this would have ever happened!” Alex exclaimed.
“Alex if I had let you be, they surely would have killed you by now” Jamie said calmly.
“I-I know. They came for me, either way this would have happened but still why me? What’s so special about me. Why am I this chosen one? What makes you think that I’m the Archangel? For that matter how do you know so much about all this?” Alex said.
“ It was your mentor that told us. Mr. Kamegashi came to our parents about twelve years ago when we were still children. He explained the situation to them and at first they acted like you, with disbelief. But when our powers awoke he was there. He took all of us to different masters all over the world. We didn’t know about each other, that was the way he wanted it. We were to be trained until the time was right. Even as a small girl my master told me about the prophecy of the Archangel and about his role and mine in the fate of the Earth. Finally about five months ago I was told to come here to find you. When I arrived your master greeted me and brought me here. That’s where I met everyone else. He said that you still didn’t know about your destiny and that unlike us you would have to find out about it yourself. Unfortunately our plans were compromised by that freak with the blades attacking. We received information that they had found you so I tried to get to you before them. The rest you know.” Jamie said.
“So Mr. Kamegashi knew? But why wouldn’t he tell me? It just doesn’t make sense. If he knew, then he knew he was going to die. WHY! Why would he risk his life for me! How am I suppose to save the Earth!” Alex yelled out of anger, frustration, fear, and mostly sadness.
“I have faith in you Alex. You are the chosen one for a reason. And no matter what I will always be by your side. I know right now you need some time by yourself. But remember your are no longer alone. You have friends.” Jamie said quietly “ When the time is right, you know where to find us.”
Jamie left as Alex got up. Rain steadily began to pour down as Alex walked through the streets later that night thinking about everything.
* This has been one hell of a day. Why can’t I have a normal day just once! I swear someone up there hates me* Alex thought *But what should I do. Do I go with the Guardians and fight and accept this destiny thing. Or should I simply ignore it and try to start over. I can’t do the last, simply because all I’d be doing is running away. And I’m just to stubborn to run away from a fight. Also, why do I feel so strange around Jamie? Surely I can’t like her. I mean I just met her.*
Suddenly someone stepped out in front of him. From the outline Alex could tell it was a girl.
“Jamie is that you?” Alex asked uncertainly. Suddenly the girl raised her hand into the light revealing four razor sharp claws.
“Ah shit, not another one.” Alex said as the girl charged towards him. The girl slashed the place Alex had been standing. Alex jumped off the wall next to him and flipped behind her. Alex knocked her down with a small energy blast. The girl flipped up and shot her leg towards Alex, knocking Alex’s feet out from under him. By the time Alex hit the ground the girl had already jumped up and sliced Alex across the chest with her claws.
“Ahhh” Alex said as the girl stabbed him in the arm with her other hand. Alex was able to twist his arm free and knock the girl off of him. Alex quickly grabbed each of her hands by her wrists and got her in a very painful arm lock.
“Now I’m going to ask you real nicely to leave got it? Cause I don’t like fighting girls. Especially ones that have razor sharp claws that look and feel really painful. Now that I think about it, haven’t I seen those on a horror movie one time” Alex said thoughtfully. That’s when the girl twisted out his arm lock and flipped backwards and kicked him in the chest. Before he hit the wall Alex had set his foot on the wall and ricocheted toward the girl Alex energized his fist as he nailed the girl full force in her stomach. The girl doubled over in pain but still stood strong against him.
“For crying out loud. What’s it going to take for you people to leave me alone!” Alex yelled.
“You’ll have to kill me” the girl said ready to strike.
“You picked one hell of a day to tell me that. Normally I would have laughed, but today your not so lucky.” Alex said, suddenly he disappeared and reappeared right in front of the girl. His hand right in front of her face glowing with energy.
“Now, I’m not in a really good mood, but I still don’t think it’s right to kill a girl. So I’ll give you til the count of three to leave, otherwise I don’t really give a damn.” Alex said, he could tell the girl was contemplating what she should do. “One,...Two,...Thr-“
“Heh, very well. My master will be pleased by your progress Archangel. He doesn’t want to kill you too quickly. Farewell for now.” the girl said, underneath her a portal opened and she disappeared.
“This just isn’t my day” Alex said as he slumped up against the wall, checking out the wounds he had received. Alex noticed that one of the cut’s had come pretty close to a vital organ.
*Should I go to a hospital? No, cause then they would want to know what happened to me. I don’t know which would be less believable, me getting attacked by a lion, or me getting attacked by a crazy woman with butcher knives for fingernails. Wait, maybe they could help. But I’m still too dang prideful and too stubborn to admit I was wrong. I couldn’t impose on them, after all I didn’t exactly leave that good of an impression on them before.* Alex thought.
“You know, you might want to get those checked out” A voice said from a dark alleyway.
Even though he had only heard it a few times, Alex had already memorized it.
“Were you watching the whole thing? Or did you just happen to walk by and notice me slowly bleeding to death” Alex said sarcastically.
“Well, a little bit of both you see. I had to see how strong you were, also if you were willing to take a human life.” Jamie said as she stepped out of the darkness.
“Heh, you and your freaking tests. Well did I pass.”
“Hmm, that’s not important. Right now we have to get those wounds checked out” Jamie said quickly changing the subject as she came up close to Alex. She grabbed his hand to help him up.
*Man she looks beautiful and her hair smells so wonderful. Lord, I can’t take my eyes off of her.* Alex thought as he gazed resiliently at her eyes. Jamie quickly turned her eyes away from him as he stood up.
*Why does my stomach feel like butterflies when he looks at me like that?* Jamie thought. Suddenly Lyle and Sasuka ran up.
“Hey you guys ok?” Lyle asked that’s when he saw Alex “Dang, looks like you either had a run in with a mean lion, or you made Jamie mad. Which one is it?” Lyle asked as he let Alex lean on him.
“That’s so not funny.” Jamie said as she rolled her eyes and slapped Lyle on the arm.
“See I told ya” Lyle joked.
“Heh, well let’s get you taken care of” Sasuka said as they made their way back towards the warehouse.
“Here ya go Alex” Ashley said as she handed him an ice pack for his head.
“Heh thanks.” Alex said as he gingerly placed the ice pack on his sore head. His flesh wounds had for the most part already healed due to his energy increasing his healing ability.
The next morning Alex got up early for a change.
*Man, what a night. I don’t think I got a wink of sleep last night. Whenever I closed my eyes all I had was nightmares. I think I need to take a walk.* Alex thought as he quietly snuck out of the warehouse.
“This feels so good. Nothing beats a good walk this early in the morning. The air is so fresh and crisp. I should really do this more often.” Alex said as he briskly walked down the street.
“Saskuka, Ashley, Lyle, and Shadow. Make sure he doesn’t get attacked again okay. This time they won’t make the same mistake twice.” Jamie said as she watched Alex cross the street. “I’ll be with you shortly.”
Alex wasn’t paying much attention as he walked. It wasn’t until he felt a faint energy source behind him that he noticed Lyle, Sasuka and Ashley coming up behind him.
*I just can’t deal with them right now. I really just need some time alone.” Alex thought as he hurried his pace to try to get away from them.
All of a sudden three people popped out . The first person Alex noted was a giant in stature with bulging muscles. The person standing next to him had shoulder length blonde hair and was dressed luxuriously twirling a rose in his hand. The last person was average height with a muscular build wearing blue jeans with no shirt and had taped up hands, as if he was a boxer.
Alex was in too big of a hurry to try to dodge them so he collided with the big man.
“Huh oh I’m sorry sir” Alex said as he turned to leave when a strong hand grabbed him and turned him around.
“Hey what’s up? I said I was sorry.” Alex said as he looked the big man in the eyes.
“Oh I know your sorry, but I’m about to make you even more sorry.” the man said gruffly. The man swung his fist quickly aimed for Alex’s head. Alex ducked and kicked his opponents feet out from under him. Alex then came up with a powerful uppercut knocking the man flat on his back. The other two by that time surrounded Alex. The big man then got up to his feet and rubbed his jaw.
“Heh, nice punch kid. Now its my turn” as the man said that, a steel hammer appeared in his hand. The man’s eyes glowed with power as he pointed the hammer at Alex.
“Now Archangel, let’s see this awesome power of yours”
“Oy...your one of them aren’t you”Alex said “Well let’s see you try this on for size”
Alex ran towards the big man, just barely dodging the wide swing of the hammer and managed to get behind the giant. Alex then aimed an energized punch at the man’s back. There was a loud crack as Alex’s fist collided with the man’s back.
“Oww” Alex said as he clutched his hand.
“You disgust me. Only a coward attacks a man from behind.” the giant said. Suddenly the man was knocked back by an energized card. Sasuka, Lyle, and Ashley had arrived.
“Hmm, serves you right for running away from us.” Ashley said mockingly seeing Alex laying on the ground, “but you look so cute laying there we just had to help ya.”
“These are more of Death’s goons. The building with hair as you’ve noticed is like a steel wall. I wouldn’t advise getting into a fist fight with him.” Lyle said as his spear appeared in his hand.
Lyle immediately charged the man holding the rose. Lyle struck numerous times with his spear, each attacked aimed for a vital spot on the body. Each one hitting only air. The man dodged every attack with ease. No matter where Lyle aimed or how fast his attack was the man was one step ahead of him. Finally the man blocked one of Lyle’s attacks with his rose, which had taken on the form of a pole of thorns. Lyle was temporarily off balance but managed to gain his balance quickly enough to block the man’s attack. It wasn’t until Lyle tried to move that he found that his legs were ensnared by vines which had sprung from the ground. No matter how hard he tried to pull the vines wouldn’t budge.
“Heh try as you might no one can escape from the Devil’s Snare once it’s got hold of you. Not unless I let you, that is.” the man said as he watched the other’s battle.
Sasuka had already managed to corner the boxer, but he still hadn’t been able to hit him. The boxer was extremely fast and strong. With every punch he threw at Sasuka and ball of energy flew from his fist! Sasuka was barely able to dodge one of the attacks which grazed his cheek. Sasuka felt the warm blood rolling down his cheek but he didn’t have time to wipe it off, for now he was too busy dodging and blocking the relentless attacks by his opponent to pay his wound much attention. The boxer hadn’t even broken a sweat when he managed to break Sasuka’s defenses and land a punch on Sasuka’s mid section. Sasuka doubled over in pain but still kept fighting. The boxer then nailed Sasuka with a spinning energy kick which sprawled Sasuka out on the ground. The boxer then pinned Sasuka to the ground with an energized hand in front of Sasuka’s face.
“If you don’t want to die, then don’t struggle.” the man said evilly as he looked up to see how his comrades were doing.
Ashley tried her best to damage the giant standing in front of her but nothing harmed him. Her weapons, even with the blades out, simply bounced off of him. The blades couldn’t even cut him! Ashley was exasperated that anyone could be that strong. The man was simply laughing at her attempts to even damage him.
“This is pathetic! These are the Guardians of Earth. These are the one’s who are supposed to stop us from destroying this accursed place. Hah, I Osuka, could easily kill every single one here.” Osuka stated plainly as he caught Ashley’s weapon’s in his hands. He then swung her from her own weapons and smashed her into a wooden fence. Ashley had the wind knocked out of her momentarily, before she could recover the giant whipped her weapons again, sending her flying towards the man with the rose.
“Ah, now this is my kinda rain.” the man said as he caught Ashley in mid-air and flipped her onto the ground next to Lyle. Before Ashley could get up, she too was caught by the Devil’s Snare.
“Now time for the supreme Archangel.” Osuka said mockingly as he advanced upon Alex. The man swung his hammer at Alex trying to crush Alex with a single powerful blow, but Alex managed to stop the attack by creating an energy shield to deflect it.
“Heh, so your not as weak as you appear to be. Oh well, your still no where strong enough to stop me.” Osuka said as he assaulted Alex’s shield with one powerful attack after another. Finally Alex’s shield shattered under the force and Alex was sent flying into a nearby wall from the force of the attack. Osuka was coming in for the final strike upon Alex before Alex could recover when suddenly Osuka was knocked to his knee’s by an energy attack. There standing behind him was Jamie.
“I would like it if you’d quit hurting my friends.” Jamie said coldly as she aimed her arrow towards the man.
“Heh, do you really believe that little toy could hurt me.” Osuka asked.
“Well, let’s find out.” Jamie said as she launched her arrow. Right before it hit the man the arrow erupted with energy blinding him for a second. Jamie was quickly upon him in that time and sent him smashing into a brick wall with an energy attack.
“You little bitch! I’ll make you pay for that!” Osuka yelled as he ran towards her in a blind rage. Jamie dodged most of his attacks, and was getting ready to launch her own attack when she was attacked from behind. The boxer had snuck up behind her and was now keeping her from moving.
“Now now girly, no need for a struggle” the boxer said as he applied a pressure point to the back of Jamie’s neck which made her legs go numb.
“Jamie!” Sasuka yelled, from next to Lyle and Ashley. The boxer had let the man with the rose add him to his rapidly growing collection of Guardians.
“Now you’ll pay you bitch. Juggernaut Slash!” the man yelled as he unleashed his ultimate attack. He swung his hammer with incredible force above his head. Combining his already enormous strength with the increasing force of the hammer being swung in a circular motion, all the time gaining energy from Osuka. Finally he swung the hammer. The force of the hammer connected with Jamie’s body with a sickening thud sending her smashing into and demolishing a brick wall. The man then went to pick up the limp form of Jamie.
Alex who had been covered by bricks from when Osuka had destroyed the brick wall got up in time to see what happened to Jamie. Alex’s anger began to rise as he could feel his energy increasing.
“Don’t you dare lay a hand on her!” Alex screamed as his eyes glowed with power. The faint outline of wings could be made out on his back as his hands also began to glow.
“Ah so your still alive eh” Osuka said as he turned around to face the kid. However no one was there.
“Looking for me?” a voice asked from behind Osuka. When Osuka turned around he was met with an energized fist which sent him flying backwards. Before he finished his backwards decent he was halted by Alex who was waiting with an energy blast. The attack knocked Osuka to the ground, he was badly wounded by the attack and you could tell he wasn’t used to feeling pain.
“H-how could you be this strong?” Osuka asked as Alex advanced upon him. Suddenly portals opened up beneath Osuka, the boxer and the man with the rose and teleported them away.
It was then that Shadow came up and freed Lyle, Sasuka, and Ashley from the Devil’s Snare.
“What happened here?” Shadow asked.
“We had a run in with Death’s goons.” Ashley replied as they all ran towards Jamie.
" Yeah where were you , you were supposed to be with us where did you go" Lyle asked?
" I stopped to check something out. I thought I had seen some more of Death’s henchmen. It turned out I was right, but they disappeared before I could find out what they were doing."Shadow replied
Jamie wasn’t moving and was barely breathing. It was evident that she had several broken ribs, and numerous other injuries from the attack.
“You guys have to get her to a hospital immediately.” Alex stated as Sasuka and Lyle helped to pick her up.
“Look, you guys go ahead and take her to the hospital. It looks like you guys need to get check up to.” Alex said.
"Your right we probably should get checked up" Lyle said
"Okay lets go"Ashley said
“Hey, I’ll catch up with you guys in a second okay. I’ll meet you guys at the hospital.” Alex suddenly said as he started to run off quickly.
“You better! You can’t keep running away from this.” Lyle said as he helped Sasuka with Jamie.
"We’ll meet you there, we’re headed to the hospital by the river." Sasuka yelled to the fleeting figure of Alex. It was evident that heard Sasuka’s directions as he waved his hand in acknowledgment.
* I don’t know why but I feel a strange energy source nearby. Its as if it’s calling to me. I have to find out what it is, but I’ll have to do it quickly I have to make sure Jamie’s okay.* Alex thought as he jumped from building to building in search of the source. Finally when Alex arrived at a construction sight he knew he had arrived. A figure appeared before him wearing a black cloak and a black mask.
“Oy ...must be my day to be attacked by strange goons today"Alex yelled
"I see you were able to locate my energy signal. It seems our energies have a natural calling to one another. Such is the force of Life and Death. So, you are the one the Archangel. Somehow I had envisioned you be much stronger looking. Well, now I’ll be able to see how strong your really are. I want to test your power, compared to that of mine. Let’s see just how strong the Archangel is compared to the wielder of Death !" the stranger said.
