Raven woke up, gloomily. Today was a nice day, but she didn't care. She wandered outside, looking even darker than she felt. Immediately, the other Titans got the message. BAD MOOD. Beast Boy was the first to cross her path. He offered her breakfast, she offered him a fist. Starfire got it next. Asking to go shopping was flatly turned down. So on and so on, until the other Titans were afraid there was something amiss with Raven.
“Is today some special day?” Beast Boy wondered, a few hours later. Raven had gone into her room again, and the other Teen Titans were having a discussion.
“Maybe it's her birthday,” Cyborg deduced.
“Maybe, maybe not,” Robin puzzled.
“Let's surprise her with a party,” Starfire said, getting her holiday box ready.
So, the decision was made. A party for Raven was the plan. Preparations were made. Balloons were put up. Decorations, party favors, guests, a cake, the whole schmeer. A few hours later, Raven came out of her room.
Raven came out of her room. “Why are the lights off?” she asked herself aloud. She went to flick the switch, but there was already a hand on it. The lights came on.
“SURPRISE, RAVEN!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!”
“SURPRISE, RAVEN!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!”
Raven looked shocked. She turned to see all the things set up for her birthday party. There was a cake. There was a fleet of balloons. Streamers covered the walls. A look not oft seen on Raven's face began to show, a warm, special look… A look of confusion.
“It's not my birthday,” said Raven, and went back to her room.
