Remembrance

Standing high, Fighting proud

Runners, Bombers, Scouters, Messengers

All warriors by there own right

The stood beside us

They ran beside us

They fought beside us

They fell beside us

Friends and foe alike

Families waiting, watching, grieving

Killed in action

Missing in action

Prisoners of war

All the same

Never to return home

Bomber bold and Runner swift

Scouter sleek and messenger keep

Those who rose

Those who fell

Those who died

I ran beside you

I fought beside you

But I didn't fall

I stand here and remember

All the time we shared together

All of your voices

Carried on the wind

All your faces

Carried in memory

No mounds or memorials

No stones or graves

I stand here

Alone

Your eternal friend

In my mind when I sleep

I see your faces in the light

And when I die

I will run once again with you

Across fields of green

But for now all I can do is remember

Tracer fire and bullets blazing

Screams of the wounded

And the yells of the fighting

The sound of bullets impacting soft flesh

And the sounds of those hit

I see these images over and over in my head

Wishing they would disappear

But they won't

They are stuck there for eternity

Only I remember those who fought

And the reason why

Out of our four legged friends

So many put to death after word

So many lost

So many gone

Only I remain

If only I could tell others

The horrors I've seen

Maybe there won't be no more war

I will see you my lost friends

When I die you will be waiting for me

The only one to survive of our brigade

The only one to carry our flag

The only one to carry on

This I will do and much more

So long my friends

And take this offering

Eternal peace from eternal war

Eternal warmth from eternal cold

Here is what we get

Eternal life from a mortal soul

Death and destruction from war

I will return

I promise

Forever more I will remember

Good-bye my dear friends

Good-bye

This was kinda rough drafted and wrote on paper after I went and saw the reproduction of the Vietnam wall. All people need to stop every day and thank the people who fought for the US. From the Revolution all the way to those brave souls who died in the attack on America. That is what we need to do. That is what we should do. Every body every day. This is all I have to say. Please take this to heart and remember it forever. If only you did that I would be thankful. Thank you for your patronage.
