Restoration of a Place Like Home
Samus Aran, The Hunter, had a new assignment. Objectives had her target located in the Tallon System once again. Except this time it was a defense job, while scientists tried to restore the planet. All the scientists onboard the other craft knew Samus' connection to this planet, and her ruthlessness as well. Knowing that this planet held frigid drifts, and hellish caverns, the scientists had prepared accordingly. Dispatched with them was a platoon of Galactic Forces Marines, just in case of any `interruptions' by the Space Pirates.
As they made planet fall on Tallon IV, they landed about the same location that Samus had previously. Supplied with all weaponry from her last venture here (Wave, Ice, and Plasma Beams, Varia and Gravity suits, Wavebuster, Flamethrower, Super Missile, and Ice Spreader combo's, Space Jump Boots, Grapple arm, Power Bomb, Morph ball bomb, Spider Ball, and Boost ball), she heads out into the lands of the planet. Samus shows the scientists the ways to move about the planet, and sets up a base camp in the Chozo Ruins, in the same room where Flaggra was defeated.
…Meanwhile, at a Space pirate outpost, a message comes through, telling of the planet fall of a Galactic Federation team, and of The Hunter. Preparations are made to send forces out once again, but this time with hopes of her permanent destruction…
After establishing outposts in the Magmoor Caverns, Phendrana Drifts, and Phazon Mines, The scientist teams are ready for the excavation of the frigate that was left in the planets surface. Samus, in the meantime, is checking the structural soundness of the main Chozo Temple. All is going well, and at nightfall, everyone but the posted guard is sound asleep. Even Samus.
…”The hunter is there, and we shall eradicate her and the team on the surface. She is of no match to our numbers. We have three entire battalions, how can we lose!”
“Be careful on what you bring upon yourself, Captain. She is NOT to be underestimated. She took out two battalions of troops, and ALL of our advanced troops, all while defeating the natural predators of the planet. She is a dangerous foe, and your crew should be armed to the teeth.”
“Yes sir. I will report back when we have established a ground station.”
“Very good.”…
Several days have past since the original frigate was removed, and sent on a path to the system's sun. The Overworld is restored, with the exception of the temple (where you entered to face Metroid Prime). Samus herself has been working on the Chozo's main temple, and has thus far restored three rooms. Work is moving well and everyone is happy, for now.
…A pirate stands at the helm, barking orders. “Get that jammer working. Mobilize our troops and have them in their landing craft NOW! I want this attack to be flawless.”
“Sir”
“Yes, ensign.”
“The Hunter is not with them. She is on another portion of the planet.”
“Then we'll get her afterwards.”…
Samus sees it first, the Space Pirate Frigate. She tries to communicate to the scientist team, but the pirates are blocking the signal. She hurries toward the lift to the Tallon Overworld, hoping to arrive in time.
She arrives to a hellish scene. A swarm of at least 1,000 Space pirates were coming down on the teams, weapons blazing. The Marines are holding their own, but are backed to a corner, shielding the remaining scientists. Samus opens with her arsenal, launching several Super missiles that kill at least twenty before they know she's there. All weapons blazing, she and the marines repel the attack. Samus launches every attack in her arsenal, including her Wavebuster and Flamethrower, depleting all of her missiles before the battle's end. They press the assault, whittling down their numbers until they fall back into retreat. Amidst the fighting, ten Marines lay dead, with as many scientists.
They all regroup after the attack. The Marines try to send a distress signal, but are unsuccessful, due to the communications jamming from the space pirates. They have run out of options, and only one is left. They must assault the frigate in orbit. The marines are ready and willing to fight, but Samus silences them. Only she alone can withstand the might of the Pirates, and live to fight again.
Samus heads to the Space pirate ship in orbit. She boards, and is immediately swamped by the Pirates. An entire platoon is guarding the dock itself. She fends them off, barely. The alarm sounds, and soon the entire ship will converge on her, but her power stores were dangerously low. Then, the Marines start a bombardment from their cruiser, enveloping the ship in flames. Samus rushes through the ship, finding the panel for the communications jammer. She destroys it, and runs for her ship, but an Omega Pirate (not the boss one), and a mixed squad of Power, Wave, Ice, and Plasma Troopers, the last of their kind, stands in her way.
The battle is fierce, but Samus endures, and destroys the Pirates. As she reaches the dock, she sees that is has been torn from its housing and is floating in the middle of space. Putting her suit to the ultimate test, she jumps out, hoping to grab her ship…
And succeeds.
