Rose Guardian

Chapter one

Kohama POV

My name is Kohama. I am 14 years old and the guardian of the Rose. I wear it around my neck. It looks like a nugget of rose quartz, but it is more special. It contains power unknown. I have never been able to unleash this power. But I will, some day. For now I must protect it. Keep it from the hands of the bad guys, keep it safe for as long as possible.

Normal POV

Kohama was quiet. She knew that her boss was only doing this for her safety and the safety of the Rose but she didn't want any help. She just wanted to be left alone. She sighed as her boss spoke again over the giant screen.

"Kohama you will be looked after by the group that call themselves the Teen Titans. There is Robin, the leader, Starfire the alien, Beast Boy the changling, Cyborg the half human half robot and Raven, the secretive girl with the cloak. They live in Titan Tower and that is where you will
be living aswell until further notice. Bossman out."

The giant screen flashed off and Kohama was left alone. She went to her bedroom to finish packing.

Kohama's POV

"Lets see," I muttered to myself. My dark green eyes scanned my room looking for anything else that needed to be added to the barely half full green suitcase that sat on my bed. I didn't have much. I put a few manga into my case, added a few silver ribbons a book and a gameboy and shut the suitcase with no trouble at all. I picked it up, made sure the Rose was hidden behind my tshirt, and left, locking the door behind me.

'Now then I have to get the bus at bus stop 30, then walk to the train station and get the 10.00pm train at platform 4. That should bring me to the city. I can get over to the Titan Island from there, all in all I should arive at about 11pm' I ran over what I had to do in my mind again and set off, the wind blowing my black hair around me.

IN TITAN TOWER

The Titans were in the living room. Beast Boy and Cyborg were on the Gamestation, Starfire and Robin were chatting at the table and Raven was curled up in the corner reading the Book of Azar.

"So friend Robin, when is this Kohama meant to be making her arrival?" asked Starfire. "Well they said she would be here some time this evening," said Robin. "But have you not seen the news about all the gangs at the station? said Starfire. "Do you think she is ok?" A worried look came to Starfire emerald eyes. "I'm sure she is," smiled Robin. He patted her on the shoulder and stood up. "Do you want some chips?" he asked. "I'm cooking some." "No thank you," said Starfire. "I'll have some!" yelled Beast Boy from across the room. "What about you Cyborg?" asked Robin. "Yeah sure thing," he replyed. "Raven?" No reply. "I'll take that as a no?" questioned Robin. "OK whatever." He left the room and started cooking.

Raven stood up, a somewhat sad look coming to her eyes. All part of a slightly amusing plan. She hid it quickly but not before Beast Boy noticed. He stood up as Raven glided out of the room, and folowed her. "Raven?" he called. But Ravens dark figure had already disappeared into the blackness of her room. Beast Boy called from outside. "Raven what's wrong? Why did you look all sad then?" He knocked on her door. "Raven you in there? Raven? RAVEN!" But Raven didn't reply. A loud band was heard on the other side of her door. Beast Boy leapt back. "Ok I'm coming to save you!" he cried and burst through her door. Raven was sat on the bed, a slightly bemused looked taking over her face as Beast Boy rolled to a stop at her feet. "Er.. Beast Boy to the rescue?" said Beast Boy, a rose flush tinting his green skin. Raven rolled her eyes. "All your yelling distracted me from meditation hence making me slightly lose control of my powers consequently sending the wardrobe flying across the room and into the door." Raven used her powers to put the wardrobe back in its rightful place. "Oh..," said Beast Boy. "Sorry for bothering you." "That's ok," said Raven. She used her powers again and lifted Beast Boy out of her room. "Just don't bother me again." "Er ok," said Beast Boy, shutting the door behind him. Raven sighed and returned to meditation

Robin's POV:

I looked in on the chips in the oven. They were browning nicely. I took the tomato sauce, the salt and the vinegar from the cupboard and put them on the counter. The smell of chips scented the whole tower. Soon they were done and I dished a pile of them out onto a plate. 'They'll stay hot for a while if anyone else wants some later,' I thought. I sprinkled salt and vinegar onto the chips and squirted the tomato sauce into a satisfiyingly large blob on his plate. I sat on the sofa and started to eat.

The clock chimed 9.00pm. Starfire could never understand why it did that. She ran over to Robin.
"The timetelling device is in pain!" she cried. "It is crying like the Glortoff Bungla of the stars of Mantagan when it is very upset!" Panic rose in her voice. "It's ok Star," I said. "The clock tells what the time is. When it chimes 9 times like it did just then it means it's 9oclock." "Oh," said Starfire. "I am sorry." It's cool," I said.

WITH KOHAMA

The bus came to a halt at last. Kohama climbed out, her suitcase dragged behind her. Next stop the train station. She started to walk, a slight frown coming to her face. These Titans as they call themselves. I wonder what they will be like? I hope they accept me. She looked at her watch. The time read 9.59pm. "Oh no I'm late!" cried out Kohama. She started to run.
She got to the station but tripped over a loose pavestone hidden by the cloak of darkness. She fell heavily, her breath knocked out of her. Kohama lay still for a few minutes to catch her breath. Her green suitcase had burst open beside her. She heard a voice. No, several. All male. She gulped and tried to get back on her feet but she was pushed back to the concrete ground by a strong foot. "Get off!" cried Kohama. A voice laughed meanly from above her. "So what do we have here?" said another voice. He searched through her burst suitcase. Kohama was dragged up by her hair and swung around roughly. Her necklace flew off and clattered on the floor. Yet another guy sprinted over to grab it. Kohama gasped. "Get off that!" she cried struggling under the first guys grip. But it was no use. He took out a dagger and put it to her throat. A drop of blood appeared as the blade pierced skin, and Kohama kept quiet and he crushed her lips with his. 'If only the Rose would work for me now,' she thought. Her green eyes became dull and lifeless. Hopeless.

TITAN TOWER

Robin finished his chips. "I'm going for a walk ok?" he said to the others. "Where ya heading?" asked Cyborg. "Not sure yet," replyed Robin thoughtfully. "Depends how I feel." "Ok see ya around." "Goodbye friend Robin," called Starfire as he left the tower.

OUTSIDE

The fresh air woke me up a bit. I grinned and started to walk. The last time I had gone for a walk Starfire had wanted to come with him. I like her and all but sometimes I need some alone time. I had walked for about two hours when I heard something suddenly. The cry of a human in trouble. I ran towards the sound and soon located the source of it. A gang of boys beating up a girl. I ran out and aimed a kick at one of the guys. "Why you little..," growled the boy, Josh. He ran towards me and tried to punch me in the stomach. I dodged and Josh punched thin air. So I ran and aimed a perfect punch to Josh's head. When the gang saw their leader was down they ran.

Kohama's POV

I fell to the floor and curled up, my black hair covering my whole body like a blanket. Some guy sprinted over to me and kneeled next to me. "You ok?" he asked, touching my trembling shoulder. I uncurled slightly and looked up at him, my dark green eyes wide with fear. I blinked. "Who are you?" I whispered. "And what did you help me for?" "I'm Robin," said Robin, looking back at me. "And I helped you because those guys were hurting you. And I don't think that's fair. Five against one." "Your Robin of the Teen Titans?" I asked in surprise. I uncurled fully and sat up. "I am Kohama," I said. "I was just on my way to your Tower. I think that is where I am meant to live for a while." I stood up and looked around. "Where is it?" I asked outloud. "The Tower?" said Robin. "No my necklace. I must find it!" I replyed franticly. Robin started to search aswell. I soon found it and tied it around my neck again. I stroked it and smiled slightly. "Let's go then" said Robin. "But what about the train?" I said. "You missed it," said Robin. "Be prepared for a long long walk." I sighed, packed my bag again and followed Robin.

Normal POV

After about 2 hours of walking, the two finally caught sight of the tower. Kohama sighed in relief.

The two tired teens, entered the tower at 12:30am. The only one who was awake was Raven. She sat on the sofa reading The Book of Azar. Her hood was down and she only used a small candle for light. She didn't look up when Robin and Kohama entered. "Hey Rae," said Robin. Raven looked up. "Don't call me Rae," she said bluntly. "This is Kohama," he said, introducing her. Kohama fiddled with the Rose nervously. "Er.. hi," she said. "Your Raven right?" Raven just nodded and returned to her book. "Let me show you your room," said Robin leading her across the hallway. Robin opened her door and let her through, turning on the light as he followed.

Kohama POV:

The room was painted dark green, with light green furnishings. The curtains and bed clothes matching. A desk stood by the window with a chair by it. The ceiling had paintings of rain forest leaves and trees all over it. House plants sat on the desk and shelves along with many books.

I smiled. I liked the room. Green is a good colour. And the leaves on the ceiling rock.

Normal POV:

Kohama looked around, her suitcase by her feet. Next to the bed there was a bedside cabinet and to the left of that was a chest of drawers. She put her suitcase on the bed and started to unpack

When the unpacking was done it was about 1.05am. She yawned, dressed into her nightie and padded down the hallway to the bathroom to brush her teeth and cleanse her skin.

Soon she returned, climbed into bed, turned off the lamp and closed her eyes, soon to fall into a deep slumber.

Kohama was woken up by a soft knocking on her door. Her green eyes opened slowly, ajusting to the bright light that shone in her window. She sat up and stretched. Kohama crawled over to the edge of the bed, stood up and walked to the door. When she opened it, to her surprise, no one was there.

'Huh?' she said to herself. 'Oh well.'

She shut the door and looked at the clock. It read 5am. So Kohama washed, dressed and went downstairs to the living room. She wore khaki combat pants and a green crop top with a yellow flower on it. Her ebony hair was in a ponytail with two pieces of hair framing her face. In with the ponytail she tied a light green silk scarf. As always she made sure the Rose was around her neck.

Kohama POV

I sat on the sofa and looked for something to do. Nobody was awake yet. A thick heavy book sat on the table. Me, having a weakness to books, picked it up and read the title on the old, battered spine. It read:

THE BOOK OF AZAR.

I opened it up without much thought. In it lay many secrets that I knew I would never understand. It was written by hand in an ancient language. So I closed the book and put it back where it was.

After a few minutes I became bored, with nothing to do. I walked over to a window and looked out. The view amazed me. I felt like this Tower was the highest place on the planet. I fingured the Rose gently.

"What power do you possess?" I whispered. "What secrets do you hold? How can I get into you?" I sighed and let go of the Rose.

A voice distracted me from my thoughts.

"Hey who are you and what are you doing here!"

I turned to see a cannon aimed directly at me...

Did you like? I spent ages on this thing! lol. Read and Review please and I'll update.
