Ruby Star. The youngest member of the Elements. She had shoulder-length, dark burgundy hair that looked black and grey-green eyes. She was of average height and looked completely normal...except for the symbol on her left hand. It was common of the Elements to have a symbol, hers just so happened to be a fireball inside of a black circle. Ruby was the guardian of the flame. She was 18-years-old. Her older sister was guardian of water. Sapphire was her name. The rain drop that adorned her hand was in a white circle. In most cases of the Elements, the background colour represented either darkness or light. In the case of the guardians of darkness and light, however, it was the opposite. Sapphire was 22. Her powers were more advanced than Ruby's.

In the Elements, there was Ruby of flame, Sapphire of water, Diamond of air or wind, Emerald of earth, Quartz of light or life, Obsidian of darkness or death, Citrine of lightning and Pearl of spirit. When one becomes a woman, a symbol appears on either the left hand or the right hand. The left hand represented darkness while the right hand was light. When they turn 18, the background of the symbol appears, in either white or black, and their powers start to develop. At the age of 20, they have a change of appearance. Sapphire had blue hair and blue eyes to show for it.

Pearl was actually the oldest of the Elements, although only 26. She recorded everything that had happened to her and compared it with everyone else. That is how a precise record of when everything occurred came to be. Ruby looked up to Pearl. Of course, being the youngest, she looked up to everyone, except for Diamond. Diamond was only older by a few months. They were best friends. Sapphire and Ruby were really close. When their powers started to develop, their family feared them and sent them away. They traveled from Canada to Japan when Ruby was 15. There, they met others. That is how the Elements were formed.

Diamond had dark brown hair and brown eyes. She really did not look like someone who could control wind. The symbol on her left hand was a tornado with a black background. Emerald was 23. She had dark green hair and brown eyes. On her right hand was a leaf with a white background. Quartz, ruler of light, was 20. She had golden hair and golden eyes. Obsidian of darkness was her twin sister. She had black hair and dark eyes. Quartz had the white half of the yin yang on her right hand on the black background. Obsidian had the opposite. Citrine was 19. She had purple eyes and black hair. She had a black background with a lightning bolt on her left hand. Last of all was Pearl, leader of the Elements. Her hair was white and her eyes were grey. She had the complete yin yang on her right hand. Although she represented togetherness, she still was ruled by light. That was just how it worked.

Ruby was normal for the most part. She had managed to go through school with very few mishaps. She wore gloves at all times to prevent anyone from becoming suspicious. Somehow, despite her school's strict dress code, it seemed to work. And so, now, three years later, Ruby was ready for the world and ready for love.
