Fan Fiction ❯ Run away ❯ Running ( Chapter 9 )
~~Chapter 9: Running…~~
Andy opened her eyes slowly. It's still dark…perfect. She sighed and rolled over, into something hard and warm. Matt stayed with me last night. He held me while I cried. God how can he be so perfect… She pushed lightly and moved away, looking at his serene face as he slept. She stood from the bed, willing her tears not to come, and dressed silently. The air was cold on her skin and she was chilled within minutes of walking away from his apartment. Silent tears meandered down her cheeks as she walked quickly down any alley she saw. She barely paid attention to the street signs and before she knew where she was she was standing outside her father's home. She hopped over the fence in the back and opened her window, still unlocked from when she left.
Matt rolled over expecting Andy to be there. When he felt a cold bed he immediately jerked awake. He sat abruptly and saw all his clothing on the dresser, folded neatly in a small pile. He got up and threw on his clothes, trying to shake a serious sense of loss as he did so. He all but ran into the kitchen, and, when he didn't see her, he started running through the house. All her clothes where still there and even her book bag were still on the chair she had put it. A sick feeling formed in the pit of his stomach. She's gone…she left because of that guy last night. I've got to go find her…she could get hurt or sick. He flung himself from the bed and dressed. He ran to his car, not bothering to lock up his house. He drove around frantically searching all the nearby alleys and streets. The sick feeling in his stomach intensified and he nearly doubled over. He ran frantically up and down different alleys trying to locate her in the semi darkness.
Andy looked around the empty room, silent tears falling freely from her eyes. She fell to her knees and held her hands to her ribs trying to stop her severe shaking and the sudden urge to vomit. She looked at her watch. 6:45. Dad's at work. She stood up and looked from her left to her right and then deemed it safe to explore her old home. Her room was empty, just like he said it would be. There was no sign of her existence any where in the house. She went and cautiously stood outside the door to her father's room. Taking a deep breath she placed her trembling fingers on the doorknob and turned. The door opened easily and she peered inside. There lay a young woman, no more than thirty, cuddled up in her father's bed. Stifling a loud gasp she whipped away from the room and went quickly into her old room, shutting the door soundlessly. She curled up in a small ball and wept until she heard the door open. She looked up and saw the startled face of the young woman. The woman was surprised but did not make a move towards a phone or a source of help. She looked down upon Andy with a cold look.
"So you came back? Your dad told me you might. Well, get out. There is nothing here for you to take. Nothing that is yours anyway and I don't think you want burglary added to trespassing and breaking and entering. Look just leave and don't come back, and I'll do you a favor by not calling the cops." She turned and started out the door but paused to make one last comment. "He doesn't want you, never has. It would be better if you left him to me." With that she shut the door and left a sobbing Andy in her corner. Hearing the woman talking to someone Andy hopped out her window, hoping upon hope that she wasn't talking to the cops, or worse…her father. She dashed down the alley and made her way towards a nearby park. Hearing familiar voices Andy ducked behind a nearby bush and listened.
"Michelle. What do you think ever happened to that girl…Andy was it?" She flinched at the harshness in the tone.
"Yeah. But I dunno, and frankly I don't care. She was not a good person to hang around. She actually bribed a friend of ours to be my boyfriend. I heard she was going to sleep with him after we made it past a certain time period." Her mouth hung open. I was never going to… I didn't even know about… she trailed off as the people walked away. Standing up she ran towards her old school. Maybe someone there misses or remembers me. She thought desperately. She stopped in front of the gates and saw her group of `friends' all laughing and joking around as if nothing had happened. One looked over at her and tapped a person next to her on the shoulder. They whispered to themselves, shrugged, and turned back to their group. Andy felt the bitter wind sweep through her. She turned away, intent on one thing. She knew what she had to do.
