Fan Fiction ❯ Runaway ❯ Chapter 6 ( Chapter 6 )
The next day Taylor was by Angel's side as soon as possible.
"Taylor!" Angel said, a joyful smile beaming on her face as she saw him enter the room.
"Angel! Are you okay?" Taylor asked worriedly as he sat down by her side.
"Yes, ... and no. I'm feeling okay now, but I guess I'm really not."
"What's wrong with you? Do you have..." Taylor began, but could not end.
"No, I don't have cancer." A flash of relief flew across Taylor's face. "What it is, is a... swelling, I guess. Blood vessels in my brain are swollen, and they are cutting off the circulation, which what was causing all of my headaches, and what caused me to faint all those times."
"How are they going to fix it? When will you be okay again?"
"I'm going into surgery the day after tomorrow. I'll be in the operating room for a few hours, and after I'm recovered, I should be just fine." A frown creased her face.
"What? What is it?"
Angel fingered her long hair.
"They have to shave off all of my hair."
Taylor smiled.
"I think you'll look cute bald!"
Angel smacked him playfully across the arm.
"Whatever! I'm going to wear hats until it grows back!"
The two friends talked and laughed for about an hour, masking their hidden fears, until Angel fell asleep. Taylor continued to sit by her side, just staring at her. His emotions swirled within him, a confused mess of feelings.
In the two months that he had known Angel, Taylor had discovered a whole treasure trove of emotions, feelings, and personality traits. Angel, no matter how sad she was, or how poor she was feeling, tried to make everyone around her happy. She seemed to be able to sense when any of them were feeling down, or needed someone to talk to. She was a shoulder to cry on, a friend to hang with, and music critique for new songs. She was also someone who Taylor knew he could love forever.
With a start, Taylor realized where his thoughts had drifted to, and for the first time, he realized that he loved his little cheesehead, and he always had.
Taylor had been sitting with Angel for an hour, just watching her sleep, when he heard the door open behind him. He turned around and saw an older version of Angel, and a handsome man standing behind him.
"Hello, you must be Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, I'm Taylor Hanson." Taylor said, standing up and offering out his hand. Both shook it.
"Hello, Taylor. How is she?" Mrs. Richardson asked, worriedly.
"She's just fine right now. They gave her some pain medication, and she's asleep right now. I'll leave you two alone with her now."
Her father saw the longing in Taylor's eyes, and he also saw, to his surprise, a deep, unstoppable love.
"Why don't you stay with us, Taylor? We wouldn't mind getting to know you better."
His wife looked at him in surprise. He had been the one who had been against Angel getting a ride home from the Hanson boys. He had said that he did not want his oldest child to be exposed to the falseness of a teen idol. It had taken a lot of begging and pleading by both Angel and her, before he had finally agreed. It was only when she looked back to Taylor that she saw why her husband had relented his feelings, for she, too, saw the unending love that Taylor had in him for their daughter. "Yes, it would be a pleasure to get to know the man who has befriended my daughter."
Taylor blushed, and then sat down with them, and they talked for two hours, until Angel woke up.
"Mom, Dad?" Angel questioned sleepily.
"We're here, Sweetheart," Darren, Angel's father, said soothingly.
"How are you feeling, Honey?" April asked.
"Okay, I guess." Angel's eyes then found Taylor's, and she smiled softly.
"I've got to go home now, okay Angel?"
Angel nodded sleepily. It was easy to see that she was about to fall asleep again, so Taylor just leaned down and kissed her softly on the cheek.
"Goodnight." He whispered softly into her ear.
Angel smiled as she drifted off to sleep again.
"It was nice to meet you, Darren, April," Taylor said to Angel's parents. "I'll be back here tomorrow, so I guess I'll see you then."
"It was nice to meet you also, Taylor." April said with a smile.
"You are a wonderful person, Taylor Hanson." Darren said.
"Thank you, sir." Taylor said with a blush, and then left.
"You like him, don't you?" April asked her husband.
"Yeah, I do. He suits Angel. They deserve each other."
April just laughed.
"What?"
"I believe you said, and I quote 'If I ever catch that kid making goggley eyes at my daughter, I will rip them out of his head!'"
Darren blushed.
"So I'm a little over protective! So sue me!" He said, throwing his hands up in the air.
April laughed silently, and sat back down by her daughter's bed. Darren joined her moments later, and they both sat, staring at their daughter for the rest of the night.
