Fan Fiction ❯ Sapphire Chains ❯ Nothing Wrong With Me ( Prologue )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

AN: Well [blinks] that was certainly unexpected though not unappreciated. 13 reviews all counted. That's the most I've ever gotten for story in my life. And of them 11 said they'd like to see some more. Who am I to disappoint my public ne? [Bows] It took me awhile but I finally got this out as the prologue to my 2nd KH story. It might be a little slow going considering I never planned on writing a sequel though so, please, bear with me minna.
DISCLAIMER: Kingdom Hearts in actuality belongs to too many people to name. Sadly I am not one of them. Don't sue please all you'll get is my 50 gift certificate I recently won in a local poetry contest. I do however own Tsuki so please don't use her without permission. I am more then happy to loan her out upon request.
WARNINGS: None really for this chapter. However in future chapters there will be Riku/Sora pairings, Yaoi, Shonen ai, Violence, and Sexual Situations between minors.
In the Hotel at Traverse Town four figures were just sitting around and relaxing in the red room. Well...three of the figures were. Squall turned Leon was sitting in a chair polishing his gunblade carefully and refusing to acknowledge the exploits of his other companions. Meanwhile Cloud was leaning casually against the wall while Yuffie was seated on the bed. Both had their attention fixed on the girl before them who was pacing busily.
1...2...3...4...9...10...11 turn. 1...2...3...4...9...10...11 turn. 1...2...Grrrrr. Cloud blinked and Yuffie watched in fascination as the girl stood fists clenched, teeth gritted, eyes narrowed, glaring at Leon who continued to sit calmly in his chair as he worked at polishing every conceivable, as well as some that were inconceivable, speck of dust off his precious gunblade. The girl continued to glare and occasionally let out muffled sounds of anger until finally Leon saw fit to grace her with a look for interrupting him.
“What is it now?” He asked in an incredibly bored tone. The girl didn't acknowledge his words only continued to growl and glare at the man before her. For a few moments they just stayed like that. Leon looking as emotionless as he always did while the girl before him glared at him with a look that would have made paint peel had it been turned towards one of the walls. Finally Leon broke, a tiny frown marring his normally icy features.
“What's wrong with you anyway?” He asked, voice sounding just slightly perturbed at this girl who was beginning to annoy him. At this the girl burst out in anger.
“Wrong with me? Wrong with ME? There's nothing WRONG with me I just happen to be worried about our supposed FRIEND Sora who has been gone for almost a DAY longer then he was supposed to be and now YOU won't let me go look for him because YOU keep saying `He's the Keyblade master, he'll be fine on his own' which might I point out is not even probably true considering that ALL the Heartless are after HIM and him alone but no I can assure you there's nothing WRONG with ME!” Normally this kind of anger from the girl would have caused anyone within hearing distance to begin backing away slowly at the very least and start crying for their mommies at the most but over the months since she had joined them her companions had become used to her occasional bursts of outrage. Leon looked completely nonplussed. The girl glared even more demonically before suddenly straightening and holding absolutely still.
After this seconds pause she burst suddenly into frantic motion. Cursing rapidly and fluently as she grabbed a quiver and bow stave and rushed out the door. Leon waited barely a second more before swinging the deceptively heavy gunblade over his shoulder and racing after the impetuous girl. Cloud and Yuffie blinked at each other before seizing their weapons and following their friends. As they exited the hotel they could hear strange clangs and soft swishes coming from below in the courtyard. Ahead of them their young friend reached the low wall and jumped easily over it casting Aeroga as she dropped using it to soften the blow and to provide a shield in the upcoming battle.
In the courtyard masses of Heartless were packed in thickly. The noises they had heard from above were coming from the center of the mass where occasional flashes of silver and the multi-color hues of spells could barely be seen in the darkness. It wasn't hard to guess what, or more accurately who, must be at the center of the mayhem. Leon had already taken up a place along the edge of the mass using his gunblade and spells to clear large swathes of enemies the girl however had taken the direct approach and was forcing her way towards the center, killing no more Heartless then was absolutely necessary to clear a path and not stopping to finish off the wounded.
When she finally managed to press through the outer ranks of Heartless she found two boys working to kill the Heartless while still managing to keep a space of a bout two feet around them clear at all times. Her eyes landed briefly on the silver haired stranger standing near her friend before filing his appearance away for further thought later and joining in their fight to stop the swarming enemy.
Hundreds of Heartless fell with nary a cry, dissipating into a fine black mist. Yet no matter how many fell more seemed to take their place until the three teenagers were exhausted and covered in sweat fighting to keep the Heartless that still pressed in close against them back. Finally Sora seemed to realize that continuing to fight this way wouldn't do anything other then let the Heartless wear them down so he quickly stepped back reaching for the magic that was the very essence of the Keyblade in preparation for a final desperate attempt at victory. He forced his overtaxed mind to complete the mental twist required to access the Keyblade's magic and then lifted the weapon with the last of his strength. With a grace born of long practice he swung the blade twice. First skimming it over the ground in a perfect circle around him and then lifting it slightly to retrace the circle in the air at the height of his own shoulders. With a final surge of energy he lifted the Keyblade straight up, pointing it towards the heavens and twisting it to release the magic of his spell, which then rushed outwards from the circle destroying all the Heartless in its path.
Sapphire blue eyes opened gently to survey the damage and a tiny half smile curled the corners of Sora's lips before his eyes slid shut and he went lax, falling only to be caught by Riku. Neither of his companions had any idea what Sora had done but at the moment they both were rather distracted by other things. Riku carefully moved to support Sora better while at the same time plucking the Keyblade out of his hand and allowing it to return to key chain form. Meanwhile the girl had strung her bow and was quickly and efficiently taking out the last of the Heartless who had managed to escape the massive attack.
As the numbers of Heartless were obliterated Leon, Cloud, and Yuffie gathered around the three teenagers staring curiously at the young silver haired stranger who had apparently been accompanying the young Keyblade master. Wariness showed clearly in their faces. Just because the boy had apparently come with their friend did not mean that he was necessarily to be trusted, especially not with Sora. However it appeared that they were the only ones with reservations.
The girl carefully ran another quick look around the courtyard making sure that all the Heartless had been destroyed and all the spoils had been collected before motioning for Riku to pick up Sora and follow her as she led the way up the stairs and rapidly towards the inn. Below them in the courtyard three figures blinked bemusedly before following after their friends.
Of course if you had confronted Leon later he would swear on Hyne and all else that was holy that he had never been so undignified as to look bemused at anything in his life. And so Riku and Tsuki met for the first time, a meeting which would later be blamed for everything from natural disasters to miracles but for now all it was blamed for was the sin of making Leon look undignified for a moment and surprising Cloud and Yuffie.
AN: A little bit slow starting off but I promise it WILL eventually get better. Tsuki will be playing a bigger part later on but I will try and keep her from being too much of a Mary Sue. I may try and sketch her later so let me know if you would like to see a picture of her. I'll say now that for those of you who wanted it there are some limes and possible lemons tentatively planned for the 5th chapter on. All help is appreciated and as always please read and review.
