Fan Fiction ❯ Sapphire Chains ❯ Crash Landings In Forests ( Chapter 3 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

AN: Guess what? I turns out I'm not dead after all. Despite how long this took me to get out. Unfortunately for you guys my birthday's coming up and once that happens the job hunt begins. With a job my update time will become even longer. Luckily this should only last until my summer vacation which starts on May 26th. So please just bear with me.

DISCLAIMER: Since the plot of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories looks nothing like this story it's pretty obvious I don't own it now isn't it?

WARNINGS: Finally this story is earning its rating. In this chapter you have a brief lime, Riku/Sora pairings, and sexual situations between minors, shonen-ai and possible yaoi. Later violence will possibly be added to this list.

“What is it with us and crash landing in forests?” Sora asked of the world in general as the troop slowly pulled itself from the wreckage and looked around at the world of which that had been forced to make a rather abrupt stop.

Tsuki laughed as she jumped down from where she had been standing of top of the gummy ships' nose in an attempt to scout out the surrounding area. Riku smirked and quickly covered his chuckles with a few well timed coughs before turning back to helping Cloud and Cid rescue supplies from the wreckage. Yuffie giggled and continued hopping about like a deranged bunny while Leon just glared. Sora, however, seemed oblivious to all this and wandered around the ship, hands laced behind his head.

Shortly after the appearance of the Heartless' ships they had taken a bad hit to...something, which had apparently been vital to keeping the ship functioning properly. It had only been through luck that they had managed to make it into the planet's gravitational pull before they were stranded in the endless space between the worlds. Instead they'd crash-landed on the planet currently being used as a home base by the latest Heartless faction. They had come down heard in some sort of forest and had skidded nearly seventy feet before coming to rest between the trunks of two large willow trees near a small brook.

Soon Cid and Cloud finished dragging supplies out of the Highwind and everyone was busy standing around doing absolutely nothing as they waited for their fearless commander's orders. Leon grumbled under his breath for a minute before telling them to get comfortable.

“We're staying?” Yuffie asked in surprise. Everyone else seemed to match her expression to at least some degree. After all they were never allowed to just sit around and waste time, especially if Leon thought that there was anything else even remotely constructive they could possibly be doing. Leon death glared at them and everyone hastily decided that this wasn't a particularly good time to look a gift horse in the mouth. So they set up camp.

Although night fell quickly among the trees, and the entourage was shortly curled up near each other under a small overhang formed by the wrecked gummy ship, sleep was slow in coming. The noises of night creatures in the forest kept them up late into the night until eventually emotional and physical exhaustion drove them to the land of Nod.

Sora snapped into panicked awareness and twisted around, looking for whatever had wakened him from a dead sleep. A voice came softly from the darkness to his right, calling his name.

“Who's there?” he called softly into the darkness, eyes scanning in a futile attempt to discern a figure in the gloom that clung to the forest. A soft voice called his name once more and his head snapped in the direction of the sound.

“Riku?” He questioned of the gloom. As if in answer the clouds which had been obscuring the moon above shifted and pushed back the gloom of the forest just enough to reveal a silver-headed figure standing a short distance inside the forest to the west of their makeshift camp.

Riku shifted slightly, holding out a hand to Sora, beckoning him forward. Sora rose slowly from the ground and then hesitated. He shifted uneasily as memories raced through his mind and he was drawn back to the day the Heartless had first come to Destiny Islands and Riku had been drawn away from him, into the darkness. His eyes locked with Riku's and held for a moment before he sighed in relief. Blue-green eyes held amusement and a hint of a challenge, his Riku was still there, still safe. He smiled faintly and stepped forward picking his way around the others as he hurried to his friends' side. He reached out, their hands clasped and Sora allowed himself to be tugged gently forward. They slipped farther into the forest, their passage nearly silent as the sounds of their passage were disguised by the natural music of the night. They paused near a large tree before Riku tugged them through the long overhanging branches and away from prying eyes.

Sora found himself tucked in close to Riku. He smiled faintly snuggling closer and tucking his head under Riku's chin. Riku bent closer burying his face in Sora's soft spikes, his arms slid down to slip around Sora's waist and their bodies pressed tightly against each other. Sora sighed softly and nuzzled in closer to Riku's neck. Riku hummed softly and pressed light butterfly kisses to the top of Sora's head. Sora nearly purred his encouragement as he gently tipped his head to rest against Riku's shoulder, exposing the soft skin of his neck. Riku leaned down to press quick, hesitant kisses to the soft skin of his lovers' throat.

Sora tilted his head back to reveal more skin and was rewarded with a soft suckling on the skin above his pulse point. Riku moved up then, showering Sora's face with kisses, all the while avoiding his lips. His hands slid down, long fingers reaching for the fastenings to Sora's clothes. Sora gasped and tried to get even closer to his partner. Hands slipped beneath the fabric and Sora hissed at the contact of cool fabric on his overheated skin. One arm firmly wrapped around his lovers' waist Riku held Sora to him. His hands gently stroked and sculpted the heat between his boyfriends flexing thighs. Sora whimpered and moaned, burying his face in Riku's neck to muffle his cries. Riku, in turn, murmured constantly in the ear of the smaller boy as he touched him gently, his other hand running up and down along his back in a soothing motion.

Gently Riku slipped down Sora's body his hands falling to hold his hips gently in place. Slowly he took Sora in his mouth using his tongue to tease his hard flesh lightly. Sora's breath was coming in harsh pants as he clung desperately to his companions' shoulders to keep from falling as his knees tried to buckle beneath him. Finally he could stand it no longer and with a soft cry he let himself go. His trembling legs refused to hold his weight any longer and he began to fall. Riku, however, had been keeping a secure hold on his lover and lowered him gently to the ground where he settled between a pair of exposed roots to wait while Sora recovered.

“Riku...” Sora breathed softly against Riku's covered shoulder. He carefully nuzzled closer, reaching out, wanting to make Riku feel as amazing as he had, but his hands were caught in a strong grip and pulled upward to press flat against Riku's chest. Sora looked up curiously just in time to have his lips caught against Riku's in a sweet kiss. Slowly, Riku pulled away leaving Sora with a dazed look on his face as well as being slightly out of breath again. Gently Riku pulled his friend against him and then supported them both as they rose to their feet.

“Come on...” he murmured as he guided Sora from beneath the canopy of the huge tree, “We need to get back before the other realize we're missing.” Sora nodded hesitantly, following close behind as the slipped back through the forest towards camp.

As they walked Sora examined his boyfriend through lowered lashes. He wondered what Riku was thinking about, why he acted the way he did. Since their return from Kingdom Hearts Riku had been acting odd, he talked very little and although he touched Sora pretty often he seemed to hate being touched in return and went out of his way to avoid it. His attitude towards the others seemed almost frigidly cold at times and when he fought he almost radiated a subtle aura of danger.

Riku had changed in so many ways since the Door had first been closed, and it made him hurt in some tiny, unfathomable way to acknowledge the fact that Riku would never been the same childhood friend from Destiny Islands. That Riku had been lost in the dark void that had consumed Paopu Island the day the Heartless had first come. In an idle almost hysterical thought he wondered if he should make a grave marker for his old friend. He sighed softly, seizing the notion and throwing it into a tiny box which he then locked, chained, and shoved into some distant, dark and dusty corner of his mind. It might be true that Riku had changed but he was still Riku in a way that no one else could ever hope to imitate.

Sora was just being silly, jumping at shadows, trying to see horrible problems where there was only a slight change. He was being silly, it was nothing, Riku just needed time to adjust-that was all. Even if Riku had been traveling between the worlds for as long as he had there was no doubt that with Malificent and Ansem things must have been much different from his own experiences. It would take time to adjust to traveling with so many people, fighting together, being with each other almost every waking moment. Riku had always been a solitary person, a lone-wolf so to speak, preferring to watch their mock battles from the haven of him own little island rather than joining in their games. Even when he'd allowed Sora, and then Kairi, to join him, there had still been some part of him that couldn't be touched, times when he would slip away into his mind and no amount of shouting or challenges would bring him back. No, Sora though, Riku had never really been truly close to anyone, not really even to Sora himself, though they had seemed to understand each other more than anyone else on the island could, but...

But that's what had been bothering him since that morning in Traverse Town, an idiosyncrasy in normal Riku behavior that had struck a sour note in Sora's mind. He and Tsuki had seemed so close that morning. As though they'd known each other forever when he knew they couldn't have met before. When Tsuki had come to join their group he had quizzed her thoroughly, searching for any information on the off chance that she had heard something he had missed but there had been nothing. No Riku. No silver-haired boy. Not even the odd mention of someone connected to Ansem or Malificent. So then how was it that they seemed closer than even he and Riku? What was he missing? He sighed heavily and shook his head, jumping at shadows Sora, jumping at shadows. He resolved not to think about it until he could examine his logic under the full light of day, maybe then the sun would show him all the flaws to his thoughts.

Soon they reached the gummy induced clearing and Sora found himself drawn swiftly under the tiny overhang. He glanced around absently noting that, with the exception of the fact that Cloud was now cuddling into Leon's side, no one appeared to have moved while they were gone. That was good. It meant they hadn't been missed, which in turn meant there would be no awkward questions about where they had gone or what they had done.

Riku tugged gently, pulling him to the ground and then arranging them both so Riku was sitting, propped against the body of the gummi, and Sora was laying on his side with his head in Riku's lap. Blankets were quickly tugged up and around to give them shelter from the cool night air and then a hand buried itself in Sora's hair and began petting him, long fingers running through messy spikes, smoothing and caressing and massaging until Sora finally gave up and let himself drift off to sleep and dreams.

Riku's fingers continued to trace abstract patterns on his friend's skull even after Sora had drifted off to sleep. Finally he turned his head ever so slightly, aqua eyes meeting with unearthly silver and giving a slow nod which Tsuki acknowledged with a nod of her own before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep as well.
