Fan Fiction ❯ Saving Alexi ❯ The Phone Call ( Prologue )
Prologue: The Phone Call
Taylor frowned. He had been trying to ignore the persistent ringing of the little cell phone that lay on top of the nightstand. He cursed as he reached across his lovely sleeping companion to answer the phone. This man never lets me get any rest, he thought, turning on the phone.
"Sleeping?" A voice asked on the other line.
"Well it is three a.m." Taylor grumbled. "What's wrong?"
"I need you to o on a mission for me. It's important."
"What."
"I need you to find a girl named Alexi Hall."
"Look, if you needed a date that bad I can-"
"She's in Baltimore. I'll send you the address, and a current picture of her."
"What's all this about Spawling?"
"Just go." Taylor heard a click on the line. Annoyed, he sat up in bed. He glanced over at the women snoring lightly beside him. Damn she's sexy, he thought, remembering their early love sessions. He really hated to leave her. But a job was a job, and Spawling was a person you didn't want to mess with. With effort, he climbed out of bed.
Taylor got dressed in about fifteen minutes. The rustling from his packing woke up his companion. "Where are you going baby?" she asked him in the soft voice that had attracted her to him.
"Out," he said, zipping up his duffel bag. "It was fun and all, but I've got a job to do." He leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.
"So that's it?" she asked. "You're just leaving?"
Taylor grabbed his bag and his car keys. He reached into his jeans and pulled out three hundred dollar bills. "This outta be enough for you to get home," he said. "I hope you don't think I'm turning you out to be a hooker or anything, but I am sorry for having to go. Maybe I'll look you up if I'm ever in town again." He handed her the money, noting how quickly she grabbed it out of his hand.
With a quick wave goodbye, he opened the door to their hotel room, and stepped out.
