Link sighed as he looked at the thousands of redheads. Probably all of them were just wanting to become the Hero of Time's lover. He fiddled with the earring in his hands. Fat chance of that.
"Link!"
He turned around to see a certain princess run up to him. He smiled. "Hello, Zelda."
"Don't 'hello' me! What are you doing, authorizing a search like this?"
"I'm looking for someone."
"Who?"
"A friend of mine."
Zelda calmed down a bit. If it was just a friend, what did she have to worry about. "And where did you meet this friend?"
"In a dream."
"Come again?"
"In a dream," he repeated. "I met her in a dream, and I know she's real."
"Link, dreams aren't something you should go by. They can be misleading."
"I don't care."
Zelda chewed her lip. Fairy boy wasn't making things easy for her. "Link?" she nervously asked.
"Hm?"
"Are you in love with her?"
She held her breath, waiting for the cursed answer. "Yep."
The princess stared at him with wide eyes, then fainted suddenly. "Zelda!" Link said as he caught her. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she managed to say. "Just been out in the sun to long."
Link looked up at the sky. It was an overcast day. And there was no way a girl that used to cross dress would be so fragile. Nonetheless, Link helped her to her room. "Are you sure you're going to be alright?"
"I'm fine, Link. I'll be fine." And with a cheery smile, she gently closed the door in his face. Link stared at the door for a while, before walking back to his spot on the castle balcony, overlooking a sea of red haired desperate girls. He sighed again.
"Send them all away," he said to one of the guards. "Unless the crowd continues for more than a league, she's not here."
The guards sent him a curious look before saluting. Link fiddled with the earring.

Jarola hummed to herself, looking at her reflection in the mirror. "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who shall win the bravest soul of them all?"
