DANGER ROOM; 12: 15 A.M.
Rien! What the hell is wrong with me, why does my body feel numb and my head feel like it’s on fire? I haven’t heard from Kenta lately… I wonder if he’s having the same problem as I am. I thought while I dodged various attacks from the Danger Room robots, my thief’s instincts guiding me in my dodges and attacks. The simulation ended too fast for my liking, but I slumped against the wall in exhaustion anyways. Even after my training session sleep didn’t seem to want to come, so I dug around in my pocket and found my smokes. Using my powers to light one, I sat in silence and watched the smoke drift towards to ceiling.
“Ya know smoking is bad fer yer health, right squirt? Besides, Chuck don‘t want people smoking in the mansion.” Logan said, taking a seat next to me and asking for a light. “Hypocrite…” I muttered before charging the end of his cigar, agitated with the most recent bad habit I’d picked up from Remy. “So what are you doin’ down here, normal people sleep at this hour of the morning.”
“I know that, I jus’ can’t sleep lately. The last time this happened was when my twin brother Kenta had a seizure in the middle of the night, and I woke up screaming because I could feel ‘is pain. It felt like someone had stuck a knife through my heart, then set the rest of my body on fire before flash-freezing me.” I took a last hit on my cigarette before stubbing it out on my arm, smiling at the burn and the slight pain that I knew Kenta could feel. Our bond was too strong, even as children everyone was afraid every time one of us got sick or hurt. The other could always feel it, and our vital signs and energy readings had always matched perfectly. “I hope Kenta’s okay, I haven’t hurt from him in over two weeks.”
“Let’s hope he’s okay, but yer bein’ up all night ain’t helpin’ him none.” “I know, I jus’ can’t sleep lately and I’m allergic to knock-out medicine.” Logan thought for a minute, then a smirk crossed his face as he put his cigar out. “I know somethin’ that might put you to sleep, squirt.” I knew what he meant, and for some reason I didn’t protest when he pulled me into a rough kiss. Logan pulled me into his lap, deepening his still rough kiss. I liked rough though, so I played along in his little game and added my own rough undertones to hide the sudden need that shot through me.
Great, a little more than a week and I already want him. He sure can kiss though, I bet he fucks just as good… maybe better. Wait a minute… WHAT AM I THINKING! BAD AIYEN! Logan’s hand found it’s way under my shirt, not helping the direction my thoughts had turned. I blocked out the voice in my head, which apparently belonged to Phantom since it called me ‘mortal’, and wrapped my arms around his neck, not surprised when my back hit the floor. I didn’t see any real harm in what was going on, and it wasn’t like I was technically still a virgin. Dammit Jesse, I hope your having fun in hell! You and Shayne both, for that matter. I continued mentally cursing the bastards that got me into this mess, then something hit me. I… I can’t be doing this. This is how it started with Jesse, and I ended up getting raped at least once every other day. I pushed Logan away, forcing my mind clear. “Logan… stop.”
“Why squirt, scared?”
“No, I… I just don’t think this is a good idea. I’m sorry Logan, but I just can’t.”
“You don’t trust me because of the Brotherhood, right? Aiyen, you can trust me. I won’t do anything to hurt you, and I’d die before I let anybody else hurt you.” I pulled away from him completely, grabbing my sword and leaving the Danger Room. Sure Logan, that’s what Jesse said before he raped me.
MEANWHILE; LIBRARY, PHANTOM P.O.V.
“Hey kiddo, shouldn’t you be asleep?” I looked up at the guy asking stupid questions, agitated with being interrupted while I was reading. I’d found the library of my “new home” as Professor Xavier called the mansion interesting, even coming across a book or two that I could read and understand. “Anyone home in there?”
“You mortals are the strangest creatures, you know that? Do you have a name, or are you just an annoying little boy?”
“Well firstly, I’m a teenager. And my name’s Iceman, one would think you knew that.”
“Stop trying to sound smart, and the fact that you’re a teenager doesn’t impress me any. I’m over 300 years old, so I’m the oldest person in this mansion.”
‘That may be true, but the two of you should be asleep.’
'Firstly Professor, I don’t need sleep. My body runs strictly on cosmic energy and the occasional meal, so will everyone leave me alone and let me read?!’ I heard Professor Xavier laugh quietly, aggravating me slightly that he was laughing.
'Of course Phantom, but could you take your book to the Rec Room and watch TV with Jones? He’s about the age you look, and like you, he doesn’t need to sleep.’ I closed my book and headed for the Rec Room, finding a kid sitting in the dark watching TV. The channel changed every time he blinked, meaning he was either psychic or controlled electronics with his thoughts.
“Can’t sleep?”
“I don’t need sleep, and apparently neither do you. I’m looking for a place to read since Professor Xavier kicked me out of the library, all because Iceman interrupted my reading. May I stay here and read, I don’t even need to turn a light on.”
“Why?”
“It’s Braille, that’s why. A recent discovery of mine, and not to hard to learn.” I said as I sat down, opening my book back up and trailing my fingers over the bumps. (A/ N: Phantom’s powers deal with telepathy, as well as the Stardust she used against the security guards. Even though she’s blind, she could tell Jones really was a kid and the channel was changing when he blinked. She could hear his eyes close, and the noise from a TV stops for a sec when the channel changes. As for her assumption that it’s dark, that’s all it is… an assumption.)
“Can I try, maybe I can figure it out.”
“I doubt it, mortal. Not only is it Braille, it’s also in French.” I finished my telepathy, deciding my mental powers needed a break. “Diable, si vous devez essayer alors avancent..” I said, handing the boy the book and hunting for a remote.
“It’s by your right hand… Phantom, right?” I nodded, then remembered it was probably dark so he couldn’t see me nod.
“Qui, m’appelle Phantom.” Realizing I was giving this kid a French lesson, I grabbed the remote and flipped through the channels until I found something that sounded interesting
“So you can only speak English telepathically?”
“Qui.”
The rest of the night passed uneventfully and in silence, the only noise coming from the TV when I got my book back and started reading again. We were interrupted by Cyclops coming in and telling us it was breakfast time, then yanking me aside when Jones went toward the kitchen.
“You go to the Danger Room, Professor Xavier wants to test the extent of your powers. I’ll watch your book, you just go downstairs.” I walked off grumbling inaudibly in French, saying something along the lines of him being a jerk that was probably on Viagra. I could feel him glaring at me, but he didn’t respond so he more than likely didn’t understand. Once downstairs in the Danger Room, I listened to Professor Xavier’s instructions and took my place in the middle of the room. I’d left the bracelet Aiyen had strapped to my ankle with Storm, meaning all of my powers were on a knife-edge when it came to control.
“Begin.”
I listened closely for the sounds of some one approaching, hearing footsteps and turning my powers in the direction they came from. The attacker didn’t even slow down, which means I got knocked across the room and into something made of metal.
“Holy mother fucking damn, you guys didn’t tell me they were robots!” I sent into the Control Room, dodging the sound of an attack. So my powers are worthless, it’s not like this should surprise me. I hate it when this happens, but diable?
NARRATIVE
Phantom dropped guard and decided she’d had enough of these robots, forcing her other power out. She changed form into a decent-sized dragon, crushing the robots under one foot. Once they were destroyed she changed back, falling to her knees and clutching her head. Control was a bitch sometimes, especially after she biomorphed to and from something that didn't really exist. Nightcrawler teleported Jean into the Danger Room before retreating to a safe distance, leaving her to deal with Phantom any way that she could. As Jean tried to approach Phantom the small psychic threw her against the wall involuntarily, forcing Phoenix out to fight with the young demi-god.
Phoenix returned the telekinetic favor, leaving a dent in the wall of the Danger Room when Phantom slumped to the floor. Getting up and changing into an older version of herself, Phantom gathered her energy and filled the room with stardust. The heat of Phoenix's body ignited the power, resulting in an explosion that Beast could hear, loud as if it happened next to him, in his lab.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION, BEING REWRITTEN ON FANFICTION. NET
Shadow's of the Night is being rewritten, so this is the last chapter of this version. The rewrite has a different plot, so none of this happens in there. This story ends with the X-Men defeating the Brotherhood, most of them supposedly dying, Kenta going bad, and so begins Shadow's of the Dawn (the sequal). The link for the new Shadow's of the Night is in the reviews under the name Kaido, so go check it out and leave a review. Be sure to tell me which you like best, and as a side note: Aiyen does still end up with Wolverine, so Feral Shadows will still have more chapters to it.
TO MY REVIEWERS:
NIALA/ MYSTIC KAIBA: we've talked, now sign on and lets talk some more!!
VENNY: I don't know what a Mary Sue is, but oooo-kay. Check out the rewrite if you like this, the link is in the reviews. Don't forget to review it if you read the rewrite, I want to know which version my readers like more.
