It was a dark and cloudy day, fitting weather for Harou’s mood.
It was Harou’s fourth day at his new school. He just moved to this new town a month ago during the summer.
So far, he hated his new school. He didn’t have any friends to hang out with, and the only good thing about it was that he would be able to join the soccer team, if he even wanted to now.
He was now a sophomore in High School. His last school was a lot smaller compared to this one.
Harou got out of bed and walked over to his alarm clock that was making the annoying noise that woke him. He turned it off then sat back down on his bed with his head down and his hands covering his eyes.
He dreaded the fact that he had to go back to school, he just sat there on his bed and thought of all the crap he would have to go through today until it was over. He got up from his bed and changed, got the stuff he needed for school and went downstairs.
Harou’s mom was already at work. Harou was always by himself when he woke up. He ate his breakfast, then headed out the door and walked off to school.

Harou got through the first few classes of the day, he had 7 classes, and the only one that he even remotely liked was Gym. They played soccer, finally something fun for Harou, maybe this would change some things when others saw how good he was.He ended up making 4 goals for his team, and his team, in all, made 7 goals, winning the game 7 to 3. Some of the students on Harou’s team complemented him, and some of the students on the other team started getting pissed because they were losing so badly.
Harou went through the rest of the day as normal, but something weird happened to him when he was walking home. He felt something, something he’s never felt before, it was like his pulse skipped a beat, only it was different. He stopped and wondered what the hell just happened, but after a minute of standing there in shock, he decided to not worry about it and continued on his way home.

The next day was the last school day of the week.‘Finally, it’s Friday’ Harou thought, but even though he had the whole weekend to look forward to, he knew it would come and go so fast that it’d be like he’s back in school in a flash.
With a sigh, he continued walking to his next class.
American History…. Harou hated this class, it made him so tired, in fact he actually fell asleep in the middle of it. The next thing he knew, he was being woken up by a ruler slamming on his desk.
He snapped to attention and jerked his head up from his desk as a result of the shocking noise.
“Mr. Harou, sleeping again are we?” The teacher said, his old boring voice practically putting Harou right back to sleep.
“Yeah, well maybe if this class wasn’t so boring I wouldn’t have to sleep.” Harou heard some chuckles from the other students.
“Well what would make this class less boring?”
“If you didn’t talk.” Even more chuckles from the other students arose.
The teacher didn’t seem like he could think of anything smart to say, all he could say was, “That is the kind of attitude that will get you in trouble, maybe you should be more careful about what you say to a teacher”
“Well you should be more careful about talking, if you go too fast you might just choke on your own words” The whole classroom busted out in laughter, except for Harou and the teacher. Harou kept a straight face the whole time, it seemed like he was joking around, but he could care less about joking, he was serious.
“Maybe you and your smart mouth will have more fun in detention”
“Maybe, it’d probably be more interesting to stare at a wall than listen to you talk”
The teacher didn’t say another word to Harou, he just wrote Harou up for a detention for next week. Harou didn’t care, it’s not like he had anything important to do after school anyway. And his mom didn’t get home until a few hours after Harou got home, so he would still be home before his mom after the detention, she wouldn’t even have to know.
Harou continued the day. Once the last class was finally over, he took out his headphones and put them on and started listening to music as he walked down the big hallways and made his way to the door. That is, until he felt something, the same thing as the day before, this time it was even stronger. He stopped dead in his tracks in shock.
‘What the hell??’ Harou thought to himself. Some students saw him standing there motionless and started asking if he was ok.
Harou felt it again, and again, it got stronger every time, until he just snapped and his reflex kicked in. Without him even realizing what was happening, he was back flipping through the air and landed a few feet back from where he was.
It took a second for him to realize he just dodged a fist, a fist that showed up so fast it was invisible to the naked eye. He stood there, staring at the one who almost pounded his face into the ground.
It looked human, but his skin was pale, too pale to be human, and he had a horn. Harou knew this couldn’t have been a human then, it must have been a demon. He’s never seen a demon with his own eyes, but his mom had talked about them before. And he knew this had to be one.
Several students and staff alike throughout the hallway were just standing there staring at what just happened. Most of their mouths open caused by the shock of what happened, and it happened so fast, if you blinked then you missed quite a lot.
The supposed demon stood up straight and started to speak with a deep, raspy voice, “So, I found you Harou. I thought I was getting close when I entered this town, and I was right.”
“Just who the hell are you?”
“You don’t recognize me, I’m a sort of ‘friend’ of your father’s.”
“My father?”
“Yes, your father, one of the strongest demons I’ve ever known.”
Harou froze when he heard the words that the supposed demon spoke. His father… a demon?? How could that be right, but come to think of it, he hadn’t really seen his father much during his life, only a few times. His father is always out somewhere else, when Harou would ask his mom why his dad was never around, she always told him 'because his job keeps him away from us.' Harou never really gave it a second thought.
“What’s wrong Harou? Did that surprise you? The fact that your father is a demon, making you half demon?”
This was too much, an ordinary, crappy school day has turned out to be what may change Harou’s life forever.
The demon started to get pissed that Harou was saying nothing and shouted at him, “Are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna fight?!”
Fight?! Harou can’t fight a demon, he’s only 15, and he knows no more about fighting than any other kid his age.
The demon was getting even more pissed off by the second, “Fine! If you're just gonna stand there, then it’ll be that much easier for me to kill you!” The demon charged after Harou, the headphones that had fallen off during the first encounter crushed by his foot.
Harou finally snapped back to reality; his life was in jeopardy, and he wasn’t about to just stand there and be killed. He let out a quiet growl as the demon threw punches at him, he surprised himself and everyone else as he dodged each and every attempted blow.
Harou's reflexes were incredibly enhanced, but he was curious to see what else was enhanced. As everyone watched, Harou threw his own punch that pierced the air and collided with the demon’s jaw like a freight train. The demon was sent flying and crashed into a wall, almost into the room on the other side.
The demon recovered and used the wall to boost himself at Harou sending a hard right hook into Harou’s jaw, but Harou was unfazed. He used a move that would normally be too advanced for someone with no training to fight, as the demon’s fist was still in contact with Harou’s face, Harou sent his right knee into the demon’s stomach, then quickly used the same leg to deliver a devastating kick to the demon’s chin. The demon’s head was sent back behind him as his body followed and he crashed into the floor headfirst.
As the demon was trying to make his way back up to his feet, someone started a faint cheer, then as it went on, more and more people joined in. In just seconds, the hallway was roaring with the cheer, “Harou! Harou! Harou!” And for the first time in 5 days, Harou finally smiled, his life has made an unexpected change for the better.
The demon started to feel overwhelmed now. Harou started walking, walking toward the demon, with the same smile on his face. He stopped in front of the demon and looked up into the demon’s eyes, Harou’s smile turned into a smirk as he delivered the final punch.
Harou’s fist stayed in contact with the demon’s stomach for a few seconds until he backed up and the demon knelt over and dropped to the ground, knocked out from the devastating blow.
Harou felt at peace now with his new life style, but he knew this was just the beginning. As the police came in and hauled the demon's body away, Harou stood there with that smile on his face, the smile that represented his faith that everything would be ok.
