"New moon tonight," said Chaos, walking up behind Jinx. They were on the roof of the old house they lived in, staring at the setting sun. Jinx pushed wavy brown hair out of silver eyes and nodded. "The Pack runs at midnight." "They'll add a member tonight," said a third voice. Chaos' black eyes met Trouble's ice blue ones. Trouble pulled long blond hair into a ponytail. Short and streaked with all colors from brown to gold to white, Chaos had no problem with the wind in her hair.

"And who will that be?" asked a fourth voice. With white blond hair and pale blue eyes, Disorder was the last of them. "They call him Trickster," said Trouble. "That's all we'll know until they bring him home," said Jinx, knowingly. Chaos sighed. "I don't know about you three, but I'm hungry." She grinned, flashing sharp fangs. Jinx, Trouble and Disorder smiled, showing equally deadly teeth. Without another word, the four young vampiresses jumped from the roof.

Prank glanced out the window, absently. Blue green eyes saw the girls walking away. "The ladies have gone hunting," he informed his Pack. Prank had long blond hair that hung loose around his shoulders and he belonged to Chaos. Then, there was Diablo, a 6'2" Mexican who was very much Disorder's. Next came Jinx's man, Echo. He had blond hair and forest green eyes. After Echo, came Discord, who had long black hair and impossible smoky blue-gray-silver eyes. He belonged to Trouble.

The oldest of the Pack was Clash. Something of the mental record keeper, he had steel gray eyes and long light brown hair. Anarchy was Clash's son and had the same blond hair, but enchanting twilight colored eyes that had yet to be matched.

"Trickster will be a strong addition to the Pack," said Clash. "He's kinda small," said Discord, uncertainly. "But he's fast and smart. He'll do just fine," said Diablo. "I'm going with Jinx," said Echo, standing, suddenly. Prank nodded and stood also. "I'm gonna find Chaos. Meet at the cliff at midnight." "You should probably shift before you leave," said Clash, as they walked out the door.

Jinx and Chaos were together, as usual. They'd found a group of Stoner guys and joined them on a walk into the woods. Both had picked one and would soon lead him away from the others to feed. For the moment, however, they were enjoying themselves, flirting and playing around. After a while, though, the group began to get quiet and the atmosphere changed from boisterous to dangerous.

"Jinx, these guys seem kinda strange to you?" Chaos mind whispered. "Yeah. Usually it wouldn't matter, but this is too creepy. You wanna bolt?" "No, it's too late and I'm really hungry. Let's just try this out for a while."

"So, little Jinx, what's your real name?" asked one of the guys, who called himself Rebel. "Wouldn't you like to know?" she said, teasingly. "And Chaos won't tell either?" said another, one called Creep. "Names are not important," said Chaos. The one she'd chosen to feed from, Riot, leaned close, breathing hot air into her ear. "You're right. Names don't matter." Both girls heard the soft growl from the bushes. "Down, boys," Jinx mumbled in a voice so soft that only a Wolf's or another vampire's ear could have picked it up. "Down where, Jinx?" asked Rebel, grabbing the waistband of her jeans and pulling her against him. Her eyes widened and she stepped back, only to run into Creep. Chaos had heard the whisper and knew very well that Rebel shouldn't have been able to hear it. She turned to help, but was caught by Riot, who slid his hands up her torso and held her against him by cupping her breasts, hard and twisting the soft flesh. She changed then, as Jinx already had, her fangs snapping at Riot and her razor sharp nails clawing at anything they could reach. His eyes lit up when he saw what she was and a twisted smile spread across his face. Chaos fought more frantically, not liking that look at all. He only twisted harder, until she cried out in pain.

Two huge black Wolves, streaked with silver, exploded into the struggle between the two girls and the group of obviously not human men. They jumped back, scattering, but Jinx and Chaos were not released. The Wolves shifted and there stood Echo and Prank, looking murderous. "Let 'em go," Echo demanded. "Prank," said Riot, still holding Chaos. "Riot," Prank hissed, in recognition. "Tell me, little brother, is it as good as they say it is with a Kitten?" Riot asked, flicking his tongue against Chaos' cheek. Chaos' eyes met Jinx's and an unspoken message passed between them.

At once, they bit Riot and Rebel's hands, spun, clawing their faces and propelled themselves into Echo and Prank's arms. Creep and the others started forward, as if to grab them, but Riot held up a hand. "Leave them. It's nearly midnight. This isn't over, Prank," said Riot, then gave the command: "Shift!" As one, the group shape shifted and a pack of Wolves disappeared into the trees.

"Who the fuck was that?" Jinx demanded, breathing hard. Echo and Prank looked at each other, silent. "Prank, answer the question. Who were they? Why did he call you little brother?" Chaos asked, searching his gaze. "You'll come on the run tonight. I'll explain afterward, when we're all together," said Prank, with a sigh. "We'll get Trouble and Disorder and meet you there," said Echo, taking Jinx's hand and starting toward home. Prank slid an arm around Chaos and led her in the opposite direction, toward the cliff.

"Prank, what'd he mean when he asked if it was 'as good as they say with a Kitten'?" Chaos asked, quietly. "'Kitten' is Wolf slang for vampiresses in our old Pack." "Then he's-" "My brother," said Prank, shortly and she didn't question him further.

The Pack, Chaos and Trickster were waiting on the cliff when Trouble, Jinx, Disorder and Echo showed up. Trickster was only about 5'3", with brown hair and brown eyes. There were no words, save one, spoken by Echo: "Shift."

As one, the Pack and Trickster shifted into a pack of eight wolves, each marked individually. There was no moon and only the gleam of their eyes; the flash of their teeth and the silver in their coats could be seen. Diablo, Echo, Discord and Prank sidled up to Disorder, Jinx, Trouble and Chaos. The girls slid their legs over the huge animals that were also the men they loved and leaned forward, burying their faces in the thick, soft fur. With a long, loud howl, Discord led the run. Stretched out along the backs of the Wolves, the girls matched every movement, melding themselves to the strength and speed beneath them, as they often did at home.

Clinging to the Pack, Jinx, Trouble, Chaos and Disorder soon lost all sense of time and distance. They were completely oblivious to everything but the warm bodies and flexing muscles that carried them through the trees at an unspeakable pace, until they reached home and slid to the ground. They lied there, breathing hard and regaining their equilibrium, while the guys shifted back into their human forms and carried them inside.
