That morning Shaz couldn't sleep; she tossed and turned her dreams filled with the mysterious, yet strangely sexy Nicolai. She thought rather ruefully to herself of how strange her life had become, sleeping when most people were living their daily lives, falling in love with men she barely knew. You're definitely messed up, Shazza girl, she thought to herself. When she finally managed to get the meager three hours of sleep her strange dreams allowed her she felt strangely giddy. She went through the normal business she usually did before she went out to work. However, instead of a shower, she had a thirty minute soak in a honeysuckle scented bath, and instead of finding something comfortable to wear, she tried on outfit after outfit in an effort to find something she thought she looked good in.

Finally, she stood in front of a full-length mirror and looked herself over. I look like I'm trying to get his attention, she thought bitterly to herself, well, this is stupid. I'm going to where what I usually do and if he thinks that he can get to me like that then he better think twice…

She pulled on the black midriff bearing tube top that shaped her feminine figure like a second skin, and shrugged on a pair of baggy, black cargo pants and her large, heavy boots. There, she thought, let's see what he thinks about this.

She left her house with her bullet cloak hiding her figure from the curious gazes of others. She locked the door to her flat and made a show of saying good-bye to a fictitious someone who lived with her. She started down an alley, and then back up to the main street, but went down another alley only to double back and start down the main road again. You're paranoid Shazza, she ruefully thought to herself. Backtracking and loosing people is so ingrained in her that even when she left the house for a walk to see Nicolai she was doing it out of habit.

She had finally made it to the bridge, her nerves on fire. She looked up at the Old Navy Bridge its gothic spires reaching high into the darkened evening. She couldn't suppress a shudder that went through her as she stared at the lifeless gargoyles. The only bright spot that evening was the moon as it rose up between the twin towers of the bridge, a shining beacon of hope.

Don't read too much into it Shazza girl, you always were superstitious, she thought to herself laughing as she started up the only way into the Old Navy Bridge.

Nicolai sat silently upon a large black chair in one of the rooms in the two towers of the bridge. He waited patiently as he stared at the only way she could enter. He'd been thinking of her all night, her soft violet hair, her beautiful green eyes, and her slim body. It had been hell for his dreams. Every time he woke, it was just before they were together, every time they did just what he wanted to do at that moment he'd wake awash in sweat. His body tightened to a sweet, full, slightly painful ache he was becoming accustomed too. Earlier he had had to take a cold shower before coming, damn what that girl does to me, he thought.
