Fan Fiction ❯ She Remembers ❯ She Remembers ( One-Shot )
Disclaimer: No matter how much arguing my lawyers do, I don't own any of The Legend of Zelda characters.
She Remembers
The sun set on that fateful day,
She remembers how it looked that night.
How the colors were so very strange,
How the colors all seemed to fight.
No one could have possibly known
The war that would begin
How so many lives would be lost,
And how evil would seem to win.
She remembers so many years ago,
When she had met a little boy,
At the castle she had said hello.
He seemed so cocky and coy.
She remembered that he had been so kind,
Taking the egg from her.
Waking her father up that morning,
And returning him back to her.
She had called him a fairy boy,
Something she now wishes to take back,
She wishes she could tell him how much she cares for him,
And how she believes in that fact.
But the little boy who she had seen
So long ago was gone.
No one saw him after that fateful day,
He was missed by a girl at Lon Lon.
Her life after the day was not a paradise
She lived in the stable, not the house.
The master of the ranch was cold and mean
She had become as quiet and meek as a mouse.
Her father had been kicked out by that evil man,
For reasons she could not comprehend.
She did not know what had happened to him
Or when her own hell would end.
For she was a prisoner in the place she called home,
She worked so hard every day.
Took care of the horses she loved so much,
And slept on bunches of hay.
The master would come home and beat her
If she didn't do as he would say
He would beat her until she did as he said
Then he would have his way.
She could not leave this horrible place,
Instead of her he would beat the horses so bad.
That was one thing she could not let him do,
She could not stand to see her horses so sad.
So each day she stayed in this hellish world
Praying for liberation each day
She watched hopefully as visitors came and went
And watched them ignore her anyway.
As each day passed by she had to release
The pain that was stored up inside
So each night after he had gone to bed
She would quietly sneak outside.
As she stood there that night, remembering the past
She remembered another thing too
Back when she was very young
When the ranch had been so new.
They were a family starting a new ranch,
In the large land of Hyrule.
How their small family had been so free
Free to make up any rule.
She remembers being in the open field
With her mother by her side,
How they used to run and play childish games
Until night came and they all went inside.
She remembers the bedtime stories and the glasses of fresh milk
That she got before bed each night
But she remembers something else from that time
Which she holds onto with all of her might.
Her mother's song was the only thing left
That she had to remember her by
So on that night she walked out to the field
And looked up into the sky.
The stars seemed to be shining brightly that night
Like the diamonds that were in her blue eyes
So she slowly opened her mouth
And raised her head to the open sky.
As she sang her mother's song out loud,
Her pain seemed to just go away,
And as she sang she told herself
That she could live another day.
Her mother had taught her that song
That she sang to feel so free,
So she would teach to her own little child,
Her beautiful horse named Epona.
So that night she sang for her mother and her own child
And sang for the hope she had inside
That tomorrow would be that fateful day
When the little boy would return and her hell would die.

Well, I this is actually a little old, I wrote this back when The Ocarina of Time first came out but I never got around to publishing it anywhere except at fanfiction.net. I wrote it at 1 am one night after a burst of inspiration hit me, and it seems that I write the best when I'm under pressure or when it is very early in the morning.
I hope you enjoyed my short piece of work, and as always, comments, suggestions or criticisms are greatly appreciated. So please review!
