Fan Fiction ❯ Shi no Tenshi (angel of death) ❯ One-Shot

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

In an empire, high above Earth, clouds surround a large, outdoor council session. The council had started and had been in session for a great deal of time now, and the angels and elves were still in the middle of a heated argument.

In the middle of the council sat two wingless angels, Uriel and Jibril. They sat on their knees, watching and listening intently on the meeting around them, fearing the outcome, waiting in silence. Finally, the head angel addressed the two.

“I am afraid, Uriel, that your daughter must go,” the head angel, Azuriel, said.

Immediately the two angels in the middle protested, but Azuriel held up his hand, silencing them.

“Should she be of angel blood, then I would protest myself,” he continued, “but she was born with demon blood in her, and, if not taken care of properly, she will cause a great deal of problems. There will be some creatures wanting to take her away and use her for their own purpose, and there are others who will be seeking her out to destroy her. Tenshi cannot handle such a burden. The council has spoken, and that is final.”

Without another word, Azuriel stood up and walked out of the council, through a door behind his chair, and others followed him. Uriel and Jibril were frozen to their spot in the middle, confused, and frightened. Jibril clung to her husband, tears running down her face, and Uriel stared at the elf waiting to escort them home.

The walk home was silent, save for Jibril's sobbing, and when the three of them arrived at the angels' home, the air between them all became tense. Uriel knew that once he opened the door, a little girl, the age of six, would come running at them, unaware of her fate.

Feeling the angels' tension, the elf decided to allow the family one last night together and he'd be back in the morning to collect the girl and bring her to Earth where she would be left to live with the elves. Thankful to the elf, the parents walked in, and sure enough, there was a little six-year-old girl, running up to greet them with a big smile on her face. The elf, standing like a giant with long black hair to the girl, smiled down at her and introduced himself as Tai. The girl smiled, and Tai left, leaving the family alone for the night.

Later that night, Jibril sat on her daughter's bed, about to tell the girl that she was going to leave her home and family. Tears sprang to Jibril's eyes, and she engulfed her daughter in a tight hug. Not knowing what to do, the girl comforted her mother, saying everything was going to be all right. Her mother shook her head.

“Shi, tomorrow, you're going on a journey,” Jibril said, “and we don't know when you'll be coming back to Tenshi, if you come back at all.”

The little girl, Shi, stared up at her mother, not understanding what it was her mother was trying to tell her.

Suddenly, Uriel burst into the room, shouting for Jibril to protect Shi, and he was followed by Tai. Uriel left the room as soon as the sound of a door breaking down was heard, and Tai stayed in the room to protect Jibril and Shi. The elf locked the door to the room, being safe so no one could get in, but his reason was different from what Jibril thought.

“Give me the girl,” Tai said, in a low, forceful tone.

Jibril stared at him, at his eyes, and saw something in there that was not the common elf kindness. She shook her head.

“Over my dead body!” she yelled at him. She put her hands together and a bright blue light formed. The light shot at Tai, but he calmly stepped out of the way and jumped at her, pushing a sword, that seemed to appear out of nowhere, deep into her chest.

Shi watched in horror as her mother fell before her into a bloody heap. Tai turned to the girl and smiled, a disgusting, evil smile, causing the girl to back up on her bed towards the wall. Tai advanced on her; he raised his sword, and was about to jump at her, like he had done with Jibril.

The girl waited for Tai to be just above her before letting her eyes change, and letting something almost demon in her take over. Tai blinked and paused for only a second, and new that if he didn't kill her now, the whole land of Tenshi could be destroyed. The girl raised her hand and Tai found that he couldn't move; he stood there, frozen, and watched as there was a flash of light under her hand, and the light grew. It grew until it looked like a weapon of some sort…a scythe. She grabbed the light, and it dimmed until it disappeared, leaving the small child sitting on her bed, holding the scythe that was twice her size. She closed her eye lids halfway until it looked as if she were either bored, tired, or under hypnosis, and she stood up. Her nightgown blew around, and the sound of cloth tearing was heard as a pair of dark purple feathered wings sprouted from her back. Tai stared at her with wide eyes as he willed his body to move, but nothing happened.

A man appeared in the doorway, having opened the door without either Tai or Shi knowing, and he stared at the pair with wide eyes as well. His sudden want of assassinating the girl turned to anger - anger at Tai - as he just realized that Shi was a girl of no more than six. He stood and watched as the girl raised the scythe just above her head, moving like she was under a spell, and quickly slice the weapon down, not even close to touching Tai, but the elf suddenly split in half, sending blood and body parts everywhere.

The girl turned to look at him, and he suddenly replaced anger with fear, now knowing what she was capable of doing to him. However, her eyes closed, her wings and scythe disappeared in a flash of bright, white light, and she fell back on her bed in a sitting position. She sat there, and he stood there, for the longest time in silence, he wondering if she was all right or not.

He took a step forward, causing his movement to make a slosh sound in the pools of blood, and outstretched his hand, unsure if he really wanted to call out to her or not. When she didn't make any movement, he opened his mouth, and only had to make a slight whisper when she looked up at him, her little girl eyes filled with tears, her pale, white face spotted with elf blood. She reached up to him, and he ran to her, grabbing her and holding her, letting her cry on his jacket.

He rocked her, and made comforting noises, trying to get her to calm down. When she finally managed to calm down just enough to make intelligent sounds, she looked at the spot where Tai once stood.

“He killed my mama,” she said in a child-like whisper. The man blinked down at her, and she looked up at him. “And my papa is dead, too. I can feel it. What's your name? I'm Shi. Tai was supposed to take me to the land of the Elves…” She buried her face back in his jacket.

The man stroked her back, gulping hard, trying to get rid of the large lump in his throat. “My name is Pyro Cordova,” he said with a hoarse voice.

The girl looked up at him again, but this time smile slightly. “Nice to meet you, Master Pyro.”

AN: This story is only a small part of a larger (much larger) story that I'm working on. This is the past of how Shi and P.C. meet. P.C. is a vampire, and he takes care of Shi until he can find a nice human home for her to live in. She gets to go on a vacation with her family (after ten years of not seeing P.C., which really bums her out…). But while staying in a tavern/inn, her parents leave her there to go to some person who says that they won't kill Shi, just as long the parents' give up their human freedom. P.C. meets back up with Shi in the tavern, where she ended up working there, after not knowing what happened to her parents. Mhm, stuff happens…That's only a part of the story, and only two characters mainly. (well, they are the main characters). Anyway, if you enjoyed this, tell me and I'll get something else up too, or I might even be nice and put up the very first chapter.
