Chapter 2
Epidemic
Two days have passed since the school was locked down. Everyone except Brooke, Linzi, Nikki, Juan, T.J. and Kristina and I have been turned into Rabid vessels. First it was Faygo, then two black guys, then Chastity. Now everyone but the few I mentioned were corrupted. We fear for our lives. Linzi says she enjoys sleeping because......... When your sleeping the damned can get you. I know all of you readers have seen movies like this but read. We stood on top of the roof staring down at the court yard. These two vessels were fighting. I wouldn't call it fighting....... I'd call it self-descruction. The bite and tear at each others flesh sending scraps of meat and puddles of blood spewing everywhere. I picked up a gun I compenscated from a dead cop and aimed it at the fighting vessels.
"Don't shoot! If you fire that they'll learn our hideout and no-one will survive!" Linzi said.
"Y'all will survive! I'll make sure of it" I said lowering my weapon.
"So will I!" said Juan.
"I sure as hell will!" Said T.J.
"Tonight we go down in search of weapons!" I said.
"Why are you in charge again?" asked Juan.
"Because if it weren't for him...... We wouldn't be here! He's the one who found the bite he's the one that saved us. He's the one who knows what to do!" Linzi said.
"Has he ever dealt with a rabid human before?" asked T.J.
"No but I have dealt with other rabid animals before! Dogs, Cats, Cows!" I said.
"Just trust him!" Nikki said.
"I don't! He may know what to do! But he won't save us. He couldn't save Dakota and everyone else!" T.J. screamed.
"T.J.!!" Linzi said.
"No........ He's right! I couldn't! But I'm learning and I can prove to you if you just give me the fucking chance!" I said.
"The first time one of us dies or gets bit! We'll be taking over!" Juan screamed.
"I'm going it my way. Alone!" T.J. said.
"If you do you'll get killed!" Linzi said.
"That's not your problem. I know what I'm doing!" T.J. screamed.
"But--"
"Let him do what he wants but I'll kill him if he gets bit!" I said.
"Dude do you have a death wish?" Juan asked T.J.
"What's the use leaving our lives in some pathetic half-breed's hands" T.J. screamed.
"Take that back!" Said Linzi.
"Why should I?" T.J. screamed.
"Just go!" She said.
"Fine!!" Screamed T.J., stomping off.
Linzi just fell down, knowing he would die. I hugged her before hearing a scream.
"That was T.J.!" Linzi screamed.
"Stay here! C'mon Juan!" I said picking up my gun.
We jumped off the roof and landed in a puddle of blood. We hid behind a pillar and saw the grossest thing. They were tearing him apart! gnawing at his stomach tearing off limbs. They finally got through his stomach and pulled out his intestines. That's when I jumped around the corner and pumped all those bastards full of lead. Juan walked over to T.J. He was still alive.
"Juan...... *urk* tell Linzi...... *cough-cough* I'm Sorr..... Ugh!" T.J. said passing into eternal rest.
We left his body there not wanting Linzi to see what had been done. We climbed back onto the roof and I hugged Linzi. I started crying and she knew what had happened. I told it was my fault. She said it was hers. We were so angry with these Vessels that we were ready for war. The next day we ran over to the shower room and bathed before going back out and preparing for war.......
