Sight of Truth

Chapter 1

Everything was ready, and the hundreds of soldiers were lined up one by one, each behind the other,
divided off in two groups.

"What an organized formation...", the young man in the wall-cuffs had thought.

Of course he thought this. After all, it was to be done when the presence of a king was held. Taking off
his view from the dried blood before his feet, Hibuki Jiro, a young man who had rebelled against the king,
looked towards the general who, by himself, had two soldiers at each side, their aim towards Jiro. A
simple nod from the king was all it took to give the general permission. Saying the word, the triggers were
pulled instantly. It seemed time had frozen at that moment for Jiro as he closed his eyes, sighing.

"So...", he thought, "he'll never change..." Other several thoughts roamed his mind. It seemed the saying "life
flashes before your very eyes, right before death" was taking place.

The king's entertainer and magician had walked into the throne room to give him a sudden message,
although, it was not really negative. However, they were interrupted by a small boy who barged into the
room.

"Father, father!!" was all he could say after catching his breath. Standing before the king, he began
speaking. "I finally learned the ice spell Mister Medivan taught me!!" King Hazen looked down at the boy
with a wide smile, being proud. "Good, Jiro. Perhaps that could come in handy in a time of need, hm?"

Ezinel Medivan, the well known magic user, had smiled down at Jiro as well just as he finished
delivering the king his message. Saying his farewells, Ezinel took Jiro with him for his daily practice of
the arts. Now being outside, and in an open spot, the teacher and the student stood in place. Quite open
it was as well. After all, clouds were sorrounding them from above and under, not to mention the sides.
Ten meturian-powered turbines were all it took for the huge sky-city to remain up in place, hundreds of
feet in the air.

"Sit down and clear your mind for a while before anything... You got too worked up by the
excitement of your new gift.", Ezinel commented, and Jiro simply agreed. Meditation took place, and once
it ended, the usual routine took place for them both.

Meanwhile.

"Sire!! Meturians have been sighted off at 200 meters in distance! Not a large group, but it's not so
small either. No Gryphoons accompany them. What actions are to be taken?"

King Hazen thought for a moment and looked at the assisstant navigator who gave the warning. "Not
big...but slightly lowered in numbers... Take this chance to get rid of them. If it's a small group, they're
hunting, and are harder to catch. Big group, wars and battles are held... In between? They're injured from
a previous one. Don't let them go off to recover." the navigator bowed and darted off to do his job. The King
sighed deeply, wondering why so many Meturians are around lately. It's not something common.
"...Odd...", he thought. "...I can't risk it, I can't let Veluria fall..."

Troops in trained Dragan Whelps were sent off, and several of them, actually. Around eighty or so,
perhaps a bit more, but the General knew he couldn't send all of his men into battle, especially
one that was a small-scale battle. He always kept half of his troops at the sky-city for protection in small
battles. Ezinel and Jiro were interrupted from their training once hearing the several flaps of wings and
cries of Whelps. Eyes were locked on the brave warrios that headed off to a battle. It was narutal for
Jiro to wonder why they were off to fight, but for Ezinel, it was a different story. Attacking and war decisions
were both held by him and the King, considering he's the councelor, as well.

"...I never got word of this. ...No kingdom nor clan is hostile towards us... ...Then, why?", mumbled the
magician to himself.
