Fan Fiction ❯ Sin of a social world ❯ Sins ( Chapter 1 )
[ A - All Readers ]
The sun glistens through the treetops as a young woman walks through the almost enchanted like forest. Her violet eyes are dark with little silver flecks around the pupil almost like stardust. Her hair sways to and forth down to the small of her back. She has walked this path for 10 years and every day as she is doing now she passes a stone building with no windows. The door is solid marble and the handle is worn ivory almost on the verge of cracking in half. When she comes upon this old corroded building her eyes scan its surface then her eyes rest on the handle of the glossy door. Her eyes shimmer as the sun glints off the marble of the door. She makes her way to the door slowly stepping up the small stone steps her eyes fixed on the handle seeming to be entranced by it. She reaches out slowly her mind a mess of right and wrong she knows she is forbidden to come near this place but she was drawn to it so often. It seems to call to her wanting the secrets within to be known wanting to once again be opened to share what it has to offer. The soft twittering of the birds over head seem to cease as her hand clenches around the handle of heavy stone door. She takes in a small breath as the ivory warms under her touch. It was mid October and the sun was shinning giving a little warmth while the stone was pure ice. She soon shakes off the shock of the cold handle and starts to tug her arms straining to move the heavy door. She grits her teeth her knuckles turning white as both hands grasp the handle pulling with all her might. Soon the sound of stone moving against stone can be heard as the grating continues the door slowly inches open. The handle breaks suddenly like a wishbone and she tumbles backwards landing hard on her rear. She winces a little and then slowly sits before she stands and brushes off her back and rear with her hands. She smoothes out her brown dress and straightens her white blouse underneath she looks like a tavern maid and very well could be. She looks back to the door and once again approaches to her luck the door was opened just enough so she can slide through with a little maneuvering. Turning sideways she wiggles towards the crack of the door her bode being pressed tightly to the door and its frame. She takes in a breath holding it so her chest and stomach flattens. She squirms a little and soon glides through the door and into a cold damp and unlit room of pure darkness. She rubs her chest and arms gently letting the discomfort dull having pressed hard against the door and the frame and having been scratched and rubbed by the stone. She slowly looks around but can see nothing she stumbles along the walls her hands pressing palm down to the cold stone she slowly side steps working her way along the wall. She soon lets out a soft gasp as her foot finds no solid ground and her hands lash out against nothing as she tumbles forward and down into the darkness not know what awaits her when she lands. She lands hard with a loud thump laying there stunned the breath knocked from her lungs. It takes her a little while to regain herself but when she opens her eyes she sees a pale flicker of light coming from a corridor to the left. She sits hastily and looks towards the light before she stands and walks towards it. She hesitantly sticks her head around the corner to find the source of the light. The walls are lined with torches lighting the corridor with a pale and eerie glow. The sound of faint dripping can be heard her hand touches the wall and she feels water. She comes around the corner fully having not seen anyone she starts to walk down the corridor looking from left to right. Soon the stone is no longer smooth but rough and ragged the corridor becomes uneven and looks sloppy as if the construction was only midway. She lets her hand trail absentmindedly against the rock wall she soon stops still hearing a voice. She looks around and then behind herself. She takes a shaky breath and looks around before she spots a small pocket to the right. She darts into this pocket hiding in the shadows and waits. Soon the voice gets closer it sounds male and the voice is singing a deep yet soothing tune she is just barely making out the words to the song.
“Even if the days when I smiled and laughed should turn out to be nothing but a lovely dream. That would be all right with me my mind's unrest struggling with me recalling the past of who I could be. Got to rise and be strong got to be tough but not lose the person I am. Two lives I have one life I live one life I dream. In dreams I remember the better in me. Vision don't let me down I'm depending on you to carry me through when I see, reality.”
She presses back against the wall as the shadow of a man passes a smaller figure at his heels. It seems to be dancing to the song its arms flickering this way and that its feet twisting and turning as it danced similar to the belly dancers she had seen in the past. The smaller figure turns and looks into the shadows where she is hiding she can now see it is a girl that could not be more then 12. She looks odd to her because her hair is golden yellow and her eyes are blue. Everyone in her village has black hair and violet eyes so this was new to her. The girl looks at the shadows and the man stops to look back at her.
“Yes I do know that there is a girl there hiding but if she dose not wish to come forth she has the right to stay hidden.” The man knows she is there though she can not see how he knows.
She hesitantly steps out of the shadows and sees the man has brown reddish hair and has green eyes.
“Do not think me rude but why do you look so....so odd?” She could not think of a word because she had never had to use it before.
In her village everyone is the same no one has different hair color or eye color and most of their complexions were close in similarities.
“I take it you came from up there in the village. It is not hard to tell where you are from since you are one of them.” The girl speaks and her voice holds a slight tinge of hate and despise for the other girl.
She takes a small step back wondering what she meant by that and why she sounded like she hated her with a passion.
“I do not recall meeting you in my life but if I have done something to wrong you I ask forgiveness. My name is Iloralie and yes I did come from the village you speak of. What are you doing down here in this dark cavern?”
Iloralie looks at the two very confused she was sure she never met them before in her life.
The man makes a motion with his hand.
“Come and we will show you.”
She looks a little hesitant not sure if she should but she has to find a way out of here and they may know the only way out.
“Alright but please show me how to get out of this place.”
She starts to walk with the man and the girl wondering where they are going. Soon she comes upon a large cavern a few buildings of stone with people all watching her. She looks at them all some with blond hair some with brown others with red their eyes blue or green or brown. They look at her and then to the people around them then the man speaks.
“We live down in the dark caverns of the earth while your kind stays up in the sun and celebrates our exile. You are still young and have yet to see the world as it truly is. There is nothing I can say that will sway you in any way for if you are like them then our suffering means nothing to you.”
The girl then speaks her voice full of anger and hate while she glares at the girl.
“I was born up there in your village my Mother I have no idea who she is my Father is not known to me. I was sent here because the color of my hair is not the same. I am different as are all down here. We are not welcome above ground with your kind just because we look different.”
The girl takes a step towards her and glares down at Iloralie with pure hate “Because of your kind I am shunned and forced to live where there is no sun.”
Iloralie takes a small step back not sure she wanted to be near this girl when she was so angered.
“I'm sorry but that has nothing to do with me I am not involved with he exclusions my village causes. I did not even know that this happened I would have stood against it if I had known.” She looks around the room having the feeling she was never going to leave but not sure if she wanted to go back to the golden sugar coated world where everything was perfect and things never went wrong. She hears a ringing and soon she sits up looking around the now lit room she lets out a small yawn and opens her eyes rubbing the sleep from them. She then turns on her side and shuts off her alarm and then gets up once more. She gets dressed for school it was another dream as always but as she walks the halls she notices the uniforms the conformity all being the same. The world black and white she then takes out a red bandanna and ties it around her head. Some one approaches her and asks in an angry tone.
“Who are you and what do you think you are doing?”
She turns and looks at the man finishing the knot on her bandanna.
“My name is Iloralie and my purpose is my refusal to conform I will not let my self be pulled into a false world where everything is black and white and no one is different. I am myself and I will show it the way I want to.”
