SIN'S DAUGHTER
CHAPTER ONE
She sat onto the couch and stood up from time to time to go to the window and look on the world outside. The dark night-sky was visible above the city and the skyscrapers seemed even higher than during daytime. It'd rain that night. One could see it due to the dark and heavy clouds …
The sound of a ringing mobile phone interrupted her thoughts an it didn't last long until she answered it with a sigh: "Yeah, I'm here. What do you want me to do? … mhm … okay … Is this really necessary? … fine … no … bye." With a last look out of the window she took her jacket and left the small flat.
After she had taken the lift and had been brought down 47 floors she stepped out onto the still lively streets.
>How long will this go on like that? It's enough!< She walked faster to get away from that place. After some time she turned into a small street and entered a smoky tavern. Some really brute looking guys sat in there and most of them watched her with dirty thoughts on their minds. The woman ignored them and went on into a little room at the backside. There she went down the stairs and found herself again in a wretched flat.
"Here am I, so where is it?" "Right here", a man that was sitting there said and pointed at an envelope lying on the table. "You did your job very good - that's why there's a little bonus too." "Thank you", the woman replied in a cold voice that showed no emotions.
"Tomorrow you'll get a phone call - there's a new mission. The guy was stupid enough to let himself get caught. Though I have to admit that he put up a kind of fight …" An assuring nod. "Fine. So are there any questions left?" "Yes. Why do we have to hide and when will this finally end?" "Never - you know that people wouldn't accept us. Although they created us." "They didn't. But now they try to kill us." "Most of them don't know that we're real. They think we're just a part of their old stories." "Yes, but some of them know we're alive and they fear we could attack them." "You're right. Nevertheless I have enough of being nice and I have enough of hoping to be accepted some day. So we'll give them a reason to be fearful. Tomorrow you'll do your job, have I made myself clear?" "Very."
The next afternoon the young woman got up early and took a small "breakfast".
>Yeah, we'll give them a reason to fear us. We'll give them plenty of reasons to regret what they've done …< She looked down at her arm; it was full of scars that seemed to be old and most of them could only be seen if somebody looked at them closely. Yet she would never forget they were there …
She didn't know what she should do all day long until they'd call her so she decided on doing what she liked most. She went onto the rooftop and watched the city. 75 floors above the ground all these humans looked so tiny, so unimportant. They didn't seem to have any problems at all. They just lived their quiet lives without sorrow and without feeling so much pain as she had. They didn't know creatures like her were existing. What was the name they used for them in their old stories?
Demons.
Of course real demons hadn't bat-wings or red eyes. that was something sick people had added to the stories to make them more exciting. But they had strengths normal people didn't have. Nevertheless they preferred to themselves as "other beings". If all people would have known they were existing hell would brake loose on earth.
Although other beings were very string and had some supernatural abilities they had enemies. And these were angels, for sure. They didn't ran around bathed in bright light and with large, feathered wings either - all this stuff belonged into old stories.
But they had weapons, lots of. And they could sense other beings. They tried to hunt them down as they had an alliance with the humans. Humans and their stupid fears. They feared demons. Some of them had gotten them to know but didn't realise they weren't going to harm them. So those people had decided to pay angels for chasing the demons and killing them. They paid with money - even angels had to survive in the modern world somehow - and with their souls.
Without knowing it they lost their energy and the angels absorbed it. It had been like that ever since there were humans, angels and demons. But in blind fear the humans hadn't seen the truth and the other beings had already waited too long for them to wake up.
Now it was enough. Enough for her and enough for the rest of them. Maybe all these people wouldn't live anymore tomorrow but it didn't matter. It was all their own fault anyway.
While their souls may ascend to heaven demons had to live in dirt and suffer their lives in eternal darkness.
Humans believed that angels were their guardians but the thought that it could be just the other way round never occurred their simple minds …
There was definitely no good in this triangle.
For all the humans - or at least most of them - this was nothing but a legend anyway!
It was always the same old theme: Give your fears a name and they'll star living.
That afternoon Nara was going to kill an angel. Other beings had caught him and he refused to give them the energy he had stolen from a human. That was what she knew after she had been called. Somehow she looked forward to kill one of these bastards. She was one of the very few other beings who could kill angels. It was irony of fate. She was only able to do this because her mother had been an angel herself. She and her father had been killed for this "accident". First she had lived with the angels - but then she had found out the truth.
Now she lived a demon's live and was accepted as such one. She couldn't stand angels and that was exactly the reason why she looked forward to kill that guy
