Fan Fiction ❯ Sing for me My Angel of Music ❯ One-Shot
Severus Snape was alone, it was the holiday's a few students were around, he wasn't wearing his typical teacher cloak that billowed behind him at his brisk step in the echoing halls, he wore instead his dueling uniform, a tight jacket over black, high collared with tailored slacks and some boots. His footfalls were almost silent but what noise they did offer reverberated off the loaming stonewalls. He was thinking about his past years at Hogwarts, and about his comrades he had here, and his students, a sneer appeared upon his sallow face, he despised most his students and could only tolerate a few rare, and some of those who thought it were them, weren't. He sighed running a hand through his long black hair, stopping to cup the base of his skull in his hand, before returning it to his side. He paused as he heard something, straining his ears to listen closely; he tried to discern the noise.
It was a soft high tone, melodic, he took slow measured steps toward the music, as if it called him, drawing him, like a Siren to the sailors upon the sea, to their deaths, he was drawn by the sweet sound. All his worries and troubles seem to fade, he forgot about his teacher duties, he forgot about his lessons, his students, his location, he was adrift in a fog bank, only thing he could grasp was the sweet sound of the music drifting from Gryffindor wing.
"Tell me baby where did - you sleep last ni-ight- I heard noises in the cupboard…" sang softly the sweet high tone, it was defiantly a girls voice, but from where if filtered he did know, for a moment he swore himself imagining the voice, he was a lonely man, but to be conjuring phantom voices was down right insane. He entered the Gryffindor Lounge through way of the Fat Lady portrait, she seemed to be just as spell bound by the sweet melody as he was, therefore he was not going crazy, as he drew near the source the song was growing louder, he could now here a techno beat style music accompanying the sweet voice, but electronics were not able to work here, he wondered where it came from. After searching the Lounge for the source of the song, and not finding anything, he walked towards the boys wing, but the song was not from there, only when he neared the girls dorm wing did it grow stronger, it's spell gripping his entire being into submission to follow. He closes his eyes to listen again, the voice was high and sweet, but had a soft throaty deepness to it, it was magnificent, he was near dying to know where it's source was.
"Were you trying to hi-ide, - `cause you should kno-ow…" It sang sweetly, he stared up the stairs, pausing by doors, most of them were empty, he found one with sleeping sounds behind it, but none with the source of the music. Onward he went to find it, he must know who sang like a siren, he stopped in front of a large blackish wooden door to one student's chamber, the door was slightly ajar, and he could here the song pouring out of it like a magical fountain. He softly pushed the door open wider to peek in, not making a sound.
"How much I hate this - if you were I'll hit your hiding place until sunri-ise." A tall young girl stood there with her back to the door, her long black hair was down, and she was dancing about the room barefoot, her hips swiveled like water, she had the most amazing grace, she spun on her toe and her long black skirt which swept the floor flared out, he could see her feet and ankles, around the left one was a little anklet of a black metal, a small ornate thorny key was on it, he followed up-ward watching the skirt as she spun the song spilling forth from her heart. The torso of the dress was tight, it fitted her slender shapely form snuggly, the sleeves were long and tight, with a slight bell at the wrists, her hands were open palm upward caressing the air, the collar of the dress was high, she wore something that looked like a more feminine version of his own dueling attire. He was captured, his heart skipped many a beat and he surely thought he would die, but on she sang, her voice a mesmerizing lullaby, a caressing touch to his mind.
"And I-ie-I'm falling in lo-ove - because I-I-I need your love everyday and everyni-ight - I'm falling in lo-ove." She sang, full lips making love with the words, her head tilted back, as she danced around the room with utmost grace and agility. She sang as if she was singing only for him, he listened to the slow yet quick tempo of the music and only then realized where it was coming from. The sweet melodic techno music that accompanied the song was coming from her. She was using magic to project the song, which was embedded within her mind and soul to surround her in it. He pushed the door open wide, stepping in as the song grew to a finish, she came to stop dancing right in front of him and opened her pale gray-blue eyes slowly, a breath caught in his throat as her eyes locked onto his, all his thoughts were unguarded as he was captured in her eyes, lost in the maze, he could still hear the music she had spun, like the linger taste of red wine on ones lips. She searched in his eyes, and could feel her gaze touching every single fiber of his being, he tried to hurry and bring his guard up over the thoughts he'd been harboring as he followed her tune, but the spell that she naturally threw was to strong for him. He stood there immobile and stunned, the potions master, the man who made avoidance and cold heartedness a art form, was caught in a snare, by a young student, a lovely young woman, who captured him with her voice. He wanted to speak but the words tripped around in his head, darting past his grasp to where he was left his jaw slightly slack and staring at the girl.
She walked towards him, each step as if on a cloud, as if she moved him towards her instead of she approaching him, when she got to him, he noticed though barefooted she was taller then most the girls here, she was just a few inches shorted then he, her hand reached up behind him and shut the door, he heard the click of it's lock as if a million miles away, surely this was not rightful actions for a student to take. He went to speak about such an action when he could hear music welling up again, he looked about the plain room, looked at the curtained bed, at the trunk, and the pictures which were to far to see, and again at the girl who was slowly backing away, her eyes closing, the music rising as she started to sway her hips to it's beat, a hypnotic beat, another spell she was weaving without an ounce of magic upon the teacher, he felt his body relaxing and his eyes were locked on the girl, listening with his entire being. Her lips parted and a new song surrounded him, she sang with a higher voice this time, the words quick, but just as sweet and magical as the last.
"It enters your veins - it enters your - it tries to obsess you - it looks for defaults…" She sang, dancing about, her hands weaving the music around the room, her hair falling and caressing her face gently, like the finest black satin.
"Try not to lose - not to lose control - try not to lose - not to lose control." She spun on her toes again, one arm around her waits the other over head, when she came to a stop she opened her eyes and pierced him, he felt his legs walk towards her without his control, and without hers, his soul was taking over, all his guards were down, he came upon her, as she danced so very close to him, he inhaled slowly, and could smell the sweet flowery fragrance that which was her.
"It tries to destroy you - it tries to tear you down - Am I lost in your backyard - feel the pain - yellow takes over - yellow takes over - try not to lose - not to lose control - try not to lose - not to lose control." She sang the last of the song as it's melody continued without her sweet words, she danced for him and for him only, he watched her every graceful move, he felt her hand touch his chest and she was still, standing in front of him, her eyes locked onto his black ones, she could see all his soul bared, all the pain he suffered, the jealousy, the hatred, and the fear, as well as the most powerful one, the loneliness that ate away at him every hour he was awake. He felt her other hand come up beside his face, he shut his eyes, trying to make her vanish, make him wake up from this dream that could never be, never happen, would only lead to pain that of which he could not take. He felt her touch his face, her fingers gentle, caressing his cheek, he felt his eyes sting, and a choke raised in his throat, he felt the searing hotness of a tear rolling down his cheek. He couldn't believe the weakness, and the pain he was showing, he felt her other hand lift off his chest and caressing his other cheek, the melody surround him in it's protective cloud could not stop his tears, which ran down his pale cheeks, having been locked away for so long. He heard her try and shush him gently and felt something against his lips, he opened his eyes with a fresh fall of tears and saw her gray blue eyes closed in front of him, and felt her soft silk lips upon his own, without reason or care he brought up his arms around her thin frame and waist, embracing her, holding onto her, for fear he may lose control and fall down into the darkness that surround him. He shut his eyes, and kissed her back, pouring his entire soul, broken, scarred, withered, and unloved into his kiss, she absorbed the pain and the sorrow, he was hers, and for once, a small trickle, a small shining speck in an endless black sky, a small star newly born appeared in Snape's soul, a little shining blink of love, and happiness, for the angel that sang so sweetly for him and only him.
