Lee sighed as he placed his clothes in the hamper. He was happy in his new apartment with his new job at the male bar but he still missed Ryo. He had received numerous offers from handsome young men, but he had politely turned them down. There was only one person he could dedicate his life to and he was going to see him again very soon. He walked into the bathroom and took off the cosmetics that had been applied to his face. It was a job requirement, he reminded himself as he splashed warm water onto his face. He shook his wings then ran a hand over his body. He moved down to his crotch and began rubbing it as he thought about Ryo. He so wanted to see him. He wanted his entire body to be a playground for all of Ryo's desires. He drew his hand away and turned on the tap for bath water. The bathtub in his new apartment was even deeper than his previous apartment and he absolutely loved it. What would make it better was if someone else was in the bath with him, catering to his sexual fantasies.

Lee poured some fragrant oil into the bath water then picked up a soft brush and set a foot into the tub. He felt the water warm his naturally cool skin. It felt so good. He closed his eyes as his wings slowly beat the water back and forth, causing tiny waves to ripple over his skin. He didn't know why, but baths always excited him. They excited him even more than his normal daydreams about Ryo. He supposed it had something to do with the temperature of the bath against his cool, sleek skin but he wasn't exactly sure of the actual reason. He brought a wet hand up to his face and sighed.

"Please dear Ryoshan, stay safe for me," he whispered and picked up a bar of soap.

Freon scribbled some notes down on his paper. Levin had gone off in a rage and Freon had discovered some interesting things about Aquarion's attack. There had been acid on Levin's skin at the points where Aquarion's...he refrained from using the word tentacle because they technically weren't. Appendages. That was the best name he could have for them. The points where Aquarion's appendages had made contact with Levin's skin had an acidic residue around them. He didn't know where the acid had come from because in all the testing he had done, Aquarion had never been anything but neutral. He walked into his bedroom, his mind still trying to find an explanation for Aquarion's personality change.

Aquarion sat on the bed, his body wrapped in Freon's soft blanket. He watched Freon pace the floor and wondered when he would get what Freon was going to give him.

"Why did you do that?" Freon asked as he sat down on the bed. Aquarion reached for him and Freon drew away. "You've never attacked anyone before. I know that's what you were designed for but you've never shown any aggression before now."

Aquarion reached for him again and Freon drew away. Aquarion frowned as he approached Freon again. How could he explain it if Freon kept drawing away? He was unable to express his reason through sound since he could not speak and he was trying to communicate with his creator in another way. His appendages shot out and lashed onto Freon's body. Freon gasped in shock as Aquarion drew him closer. He slowly mouthed each syllable until the phrase "I didn't want you hurt" came out.

"I've got to come up with a communication system for you. So you felt that I was being threatened."

Aquarion nodded his head and Freon frowned. Aquarion patiently waited for Freon to praise him as Freon tried to piece together the new information.

"How is it that you left acid on his skin?" Freon asked. "Yes, I know I made you, but your nature is nothing like my original plan."

I don't know, Aquarion replied, his mouth moving slowly as if he had to think about how each letter sounded.

"This means more testing for you, but we'll do that later. I promised you something, didn't I?"

Ryo mounted Nightwing a few days later and gazed down at the demon.

"Thank you for taking care of me. My arm is completely healed," Ryo said and the demon smiled.

"It was my pleasure. I wish you a safe journey," the demon said and Ryo nodded his head.

"I hope so too, though our wishes and reality may be quite different."

"I do have a suggestion for you. There is a city north of here. Perhaps you should consider taking up residency in it. Sometimes the best place to hide is in a crowd. You won't be able to show off your natural form, though."

"I can't do that anywhere already," Ryo said and thought about his previous statement. "Well I'm sure you knew what I meant."

"I did. From what I've heard, there might be members of your court there."

"Really?"

"I haven't seen any evidence since very few people come out this way but when they do, I hear stories. The stories don't mention names, but they do hint at the fact that nobles definitely live there."

"How far away is the city?"

"Quite a ways away. The people that occasionally came her said it took a good two months in travel time because of road conditions and the state the forest is in."

"It's fortunate that we're both back in good health, then. Thank you again for your hospitality. I wish I could do something to repay you."

"Saving our people is enough of a payment for me."

Ryo turned Nightwing around, switched forms, and began riding off. A city with people he knew. So he wasn't the only one from the castle that was still living. He wondered if Lee was still alive. Lee would be eighteen soon, if Ryo remembered his birth date correctly, and Ryo wondered if he had changed any. In his personality, not his physical form, Ryo told himself. He knew Lee would have grown quite considerably since he had been twelve years old but had he lost his annoying personality? He supposed he would have to wait until he reached the city to find out.

Lee laid down the book he had been reading and glanced at the calendar. He would be eighteen in just two days. He wondered if D would come over and spend the day with him. He didn't want the people at his job to make a big deal about it because he didn't want even more males offering sexual favors to him. The telephone rang and Lee picked it up.

"Hello?" he asked. "Hey D. No I'm not doing anything. Why? Do you have news? Okay. Come on over then."

He hung up the receiver and walked into the kitchen. He took out his bottle of wine and poured himself a glass. That was the one drawback of working at the club. Humans had the obsession with beer. Perhaps it was unfair to generalize but every person that came to the club ordered beer and he hated the smell. Why couldn't they drink something more refined like wine?

He sat back down in his chair and picked up his book. It was a history book again, he noted as he ran a claw over the rim of his wineglass. He should probably brush up on his etiquette but history always fascinated him. He took a quiet sip of wine as he turned the page. He wondered what D's news could be as he immersed himself in the recording of an ancient battle.

Presca rubbed his head against Aquarion's leg and Aquarion picked him up. He stroked Presca's fur and Presca purred loudly. Freon watched the two for a moment then turned back to his notes. He was actually stumped with Aquarion. Granted that he was planned to be an assassin, designed to kill the prince and anyone else he disliked, but he had come out nothing like the original idea. He was innocent and gentle and deeply regarded Freon as a lover and that was why he had practically killed Levin. If only he could use that devotion to his benefit....

"Dear one, I'd like to take you outside," Freon said and Aquarion looked at him blankly. He had never been outside the laboratory before and he had no idea what Freon was talking about.

"Presca will have to stay here and you will have to wear your robe," Freon said as Presca licked Aquarion's hand. Aquarion closed his eyes for a moment then opened them when he felt Presca being drawn away from him. Freon placed Presca into his containment block. Aquarion followed him then walked into his room and picked up a long sand colored robe. He folded his wings close to his back until they looked like two pieces of tissue paper. He put the robe on then pushed his wings out of two narrow slits that had been cut in the fabric for just such a reason. He shook his head so that his hair would drape over his wings then stepped out of his room.

"Come on, then," Freon said and took Aquarion's hand. Aquarion tightly clasped Freon's hand and followed him out of the laboratory.

Vangread sat at a table, thinking about what Helard had said. Helard and his men were long gone, Vangread told himself, but the phrase "He's anything but a pushover" echoed in his mind. Why had Helard said that and what did he mean? He frowned as Lynar sat across from him and wondered what complaint he had this time around.

"Good morning sir," Lynar said and Vangread glanced up at him.

"What do you want?" he asked as Lynar picked up a menu.

"Want? What makes you think I want something?"

"It's in your voice. Now out with it. I don't feel like playing games with you."

"Well sir it's Ungal..."

"Why can't the two of you just get along?"

"Ask him. I don't know what his problem with me is."

"So what's his complaint about you?"

"He says I talk too much," Lynar said.

"Sometimes you do," Vangread said.

"I can't believe you're siding with him, sir!"

"Sometimes we all do."

Lynar frowned and Vangread ignored him as he tried to think about the meaning behind Helard's statement. Had he actually met the prince? If he had, then why had he spared the prince? It was not like Helard to spare the life of one of his targets. Had he been blackmailed?

"Where's everyone else, Lynar?" Vangread asked and Lynar looked at him.

"Sleeping I suppose. Why?" he asked.

"We're going to leave soon. I want to locate the prince."
