3: The Hidden Enemy Qaidra

Meanwhile, at the Shidaru Elementary School, Izumi’s teacher, Miss Fujibashi, was explaining to the class about their home country of Japan and its history. When the last bell rang, Izumi and her best friend, Natsuko Ishimori, were talking about what happened last night.

“The police said there is no evidence of what caused the explosion in the parking lot,” Natsuko said. “Have you watched the news on TV lately?” And Izumi’s response was: “No, why?” They both laughed about it.

At Izumi’s house, she and Natsuko were playing with Chibineko when they heard the doorbell ringing.

“I’ll get it,” Izumi said as she got up.

“No, let me get it, Izumi,” Yuriko said as she approached the door. When she opened the door, a woman about the same age and height as Yuriko with platinum blonde hair was at the doorway outside.

“Hi, my name is Kazuko Morita, and I just moved here,” the woman introduced herself to Yuriko as she entered the house.

“Do you want some coffee?” Yuriko asked her.

“Well, of course, I’ll have some,” Kazuko said. (Kazuko Morita is actually the Black Goddess Qaidra in her human form.) “Where is that Future Guardian that Queen Axala told me about?” Qaidra thought. “Maybe that’s her over there.”

“Excuse me, little girl, can you tell me your name so that I could remember you?”
“Well, my name is Izumi Morimoto, and that girl over there is my friend, Natsuko Ishimori.”

“Well, Izumi, I guess that we’ll be meeting each other sometime.”

“Okay.” After her visiting of Izumi’s house ended, Kazuko transformed into Qaidra and disappeared into the darkness. At Queen Axala’s palace, she told her queen who the Future Guardian really is.

A few days later, Izumi decided to take a short walk in the park. There, she saw Kazuko sitting on the park bench, reading.

“Oh, I didn’t know that you were here walking in the park,” she said. “Let’s face it, do you think that you have special powers, do you?” Izumi simply shook her head. “Good, because I want to show you who I really am.” Then, a mysterious shadow was cast over Kazuko; she became Qaidra after that.

“That woman Kazuko is really the Black Goddess Qaidra all along,” Izumi thought. “Give yourself up to the Black Goddesses, Izumi, or die,” Qaidra commanded her.

“No! I will never give myself up,” Izumi said after she took out her Star Wand from her bag.

“Star Guardian Power!” As before, she became Star Guardian Izumi.

“Then you give no choice, Izumi. Steel Beads!” Izumi saw that Qaidra’s attack was aimed right at her. “Bubble Shield!” she shouted. The Bubble Shield quickly covered Izumi, protecting her from Qaidra’s Steel Beads.

“You’re a very good opponent, Izumi,” Qaidra said.

“Thank you.”

“Let’s finish this fight, shall we?”

“Right!” And then Qaidra called out her next attack. “Double Illusion!” “Now there are ten of them,” Izumi thought. “I can’t take them down by myself just because there’s only one of me. I guess I’ll use my Prism Arrow that Chibineko taught me.”

“Millennia Bow!” The Star Wand was magically changed into the Millennia Bow. She then took a Prism Arrow from her Mystic Bag and aimed it at one of the Qaidra clones. “Prism Arrow!” The arrow made a direct hit on its target, canceling out Qaidra’s Double Illusion. Painfully stunned by Izumi’s Prism Arrow, Qaidra fell down to the ground. Izumi slowly approached her, holding the Star Wand in her hands.

“No! Stay back!” Qaidra said to her quietly. “Please, Izumi, have mercy on me.”

“You may be a Black Goddess on the outside,” Izumi said, “but on the inside, however, you’re a kindhearted woman who is neglected by this world.”

“So that means I will get a second chance?”

“Yes you will,” Izumi said. “Change of Heart!” Izumi’s Change of Heart turned Qaidra back into Kazuko Morita, indicating that she was a normal human, but no longer a Black Goddess.

“Oh, thank you, Izumi, for sparing me,” Kazuko said, hugging her.

“You’re welcome,” Izumi said.
