"Come on, go faster." "We are pushing it as fast as we can." "How much longer will the cloak hold out?" "Five minutes, max. If you don't mind my asking, how did you get yourself into this?"
"Well...
The docking clamps slowly attach with a painful screech, proof of the damage inflicted during the Brood Wars. There is a loud hiss as the small corridor is filled with air. As the sound subsides, a heavily damaged dropship opens it's door, revealing seven Terran units wearing armor that should have been sent to the scrap heap years ago. One of the units walks to a frozen-over control panel. The unit lifts a flamethrower and melts the ice with a brief burst of fire.
Another unit, equipped with a Ghost's blaster and a half-power cloaking shield, walks past the Firebat and engages the light control on the keyboard. The units' identities, at first hidden in darkness, are revealed. A mixed group stands in the docking hallway, one Firebat, two Marines, three Ghosts, and one Goliath.
One of the ghosts, this one in shiny yellow armor instead of the standard gray armor, steps up to a door on the opposite end of the hall. He then kneels down and pulls out a panel on the wall. After clipping a few wires, there is a clang, and the door slowly slides open. The ghost motions for the Goliath and Firebat to stay at the dropship, and then proceeds to walk through the door. Beyond the entrance there is a large room, empty besides an elevator in the center, and an unadorned gray door to the far left.
The two Marines quickly burst through the first door. They then stand next to the elevator searching for any signs of threat. Finding none, they give the signal that the room is secure. The unique Ghost orders the Marines to take a door in the room to the command room and takes the other ghosts with him down the elevator to the cargo hold. As the elevator brings the party of three down to the cargo hold the lights slowly turn on in the cargo hold and it is evident that there was an onboard firefight.
The elevator doors open and reveal to the group a room filled with machine parts and what looks like alien and human remains. In a corner of the room is a small pile of boxes, the group races over to them and opens the boxes scanning the contents, one box carried two small cloak detectors normally huge in size and hard to transfer, these are obviously part of a secret research operation long since closed or abandoned. Another box contains a large supply of energy crystals, enough to last a battleship years without refueling. And the last box contained a small cloaking devise, the object of this entire operation.
The group piles the boxes on top of one another and drags them to the elevator. The ghost in charge turns on his radio to check on the progress of the marines he had sent to the command center, "we cant find the command center but we did find a research room with a research data file, I will transmit the data to you. I sure hope you're done here, this place is giving me the creeps. We are heading back to the dropship we will see you-" a scream is heard over the radio, a few moments later the marine is back on the radio. "Sir, Dak been hit by a hydralisk he's not going to make it, there's noise coming from the walls." "Get out of there, leave Dak and get to the dropship." a pause "yes sir."
The ghosts head back to the elevator, which is waiting for them, pull the boxes they have gotten in and hit the loading dock level button. They feel the elevator as it lowers almost at a falling speed then slows down. The doors open just as a zergling zips past, stops and turns towards the group. A shot is heard and all that remains of the creature is a pile of mush and the images in the lead ghost's mind, which are quickly lost as the need for speed is realized. He quickly ushers the other ghosts to action.
They move to the docking doors, that are still open and enter to find the room temperature higher than normal, not that that's strange, no its always hot in rooms were one or more firebats are. The firebat and the goliath stand with the guns leveled, then recognizing the ghosts, lower there weapons and assist them with moving the boxes into the ship. The commanding ghost thinks for a moment on if he should wait and see if the marine will get there, finally he chooses what he believes to be the right choice. "We have to get out of here now, disengage the clamps."
After the clamps disengage the ship pulls away from the station. There is static on the radio for a few seconds then a voice appears serounded by machine gun fire "were are you guys? The zerg are closing in open the docking doors and let me in. come on were are-" a scream and then its over. The realization that he killed one of his men sets in on the commander but is lost when he remembers what could have happened.
