Fan Fiction ❯ Stormy Conscience ❯ Angel among the rocks? ( Chapter 3 )
I can't believe that Shaz talked Blade in to doing this; this has to be the scariest place I have been in a long time. I'm not normally this tense, I have a very cool and laid back personality comes from being a falcon according to Dragon. I don't really understand this Clan thing, it's meant to give you strength, knowledge and stuff like that. That's where Dragon gets his tracking skills from; I don't know what I get from it. Lions have strength, loyalty and are skilled in hunting. So far I know that falcons are laid back and that's not helping me now. I start biting my lip and pull my fur coat closer around me. The forest was so unnaturally still, it was if there was nothing in there apart from us. I could see the uneasiness of the horses, something wasn't right. Shaz seamed oblivious to the strangeness of the wood, but Blade looked uneasy too. Though it could just be that if Butch found out that he had done he would be dead. Suddenly out of the stillness came a screech, I had never heard such a noise before. The horses certainly didn't want to stick around and bolted. I am not a very experienced rider, unlike Shaz and Blade and found my-self on the floor very quickly. I was slightly shaken but nothing more, I took deep breaths in to calm my-self. I was all alone in a forest with what ever made that noise which frightened the horses off.
"Great. Right what do I do? I have to find my way to Blade and Shaz they can't be that far away. So if I just go in the direction that the horses went off in then I'm sure to find them." I reassured my-self in a whisper. I headed in the direction the horses had went, it shouldn't take to long to find them as Blade was a good rider and would be able to stop his horse. When he would turn round and we will meet in the middle. Reassured with this thought I quickened my pace and started to jog, not really looking where I was going which is never a good idea. I stumbled over a root which was sticking out of the ground `just my luck.' I had fallen into a bush, I suppose I should be happy that it didn't have thorns but I was still scratched by the branches. I was about to pick myself up, when something caught my eye. In front of me was a large pile of rocks and on top was something. It had its back to me so all I could see was a giant pair of wings, like a bird's. They were beautiful, the feathers were mid-night blue and were tinted blood red, crimson more like. I let out a small gasp. The winged thing jumped and span around so it was facing me, though it had not yet spotted me I saw its reptile type eyes scanning for what had made the noise. Now I could see its body it lost its beauty, it had the legs of a lion, the other half was human, this I suppose would have been o.k. but its head was like a lizard's. I let out a squeak and started to back off.
"There's no good flying fledgling, I will catch you." The monster spoke in human tongue.
"Garn… You spoke…" I was now backing off, wondering if it was bluffing about being able to catch me. "Ow!" Yes walking backwards is not my skill I tripped over another root.
The creature sniggered at my clumsiness. "It's not safe for a fledgling to leave the nest on its own. It is not often I come across Falcons they are usually far too arrogant to come out of their land to mingle with the commoners."
"What? I don't understand. What are you going on about?" I quizzed it. I had a large problem with my curiosity and am will to admit it. Normal people would just keep their mouths shut in situations like this, but I had to know what was going on.
The creature frowned at me "Do you nothing of your heritage and the Clans. Foolish bird, how do you suppose to survive if you do not know who you are?"
"I know that I'm of the Falcon clan and there is a Lion clan. People born in to these clans have special skills, ext." I replied, "And I have got on quite well up to now." I felt quite hurt at what he had said.
"There are many clans. Eagle, Snake, Shark, Horse, Seal, Wolf, Jackal, Butterfly. Though many are dieing out, Leopard and Porcupine are fading now. What do you know of your own Clan?" he queered as it took a few steps closer. I decided to shift back a bit away from it. Yes I was still on my arse on the floor.
"Only what Dragon told me, but he doesn't know that much about the Falcon clan, as he's part of the Lion clan."
The creature suddenly leaped forward, grabbed my wrist and pulled me up. I jerked back trying to get my arm free from it's tight grip.
"Lion's are make good friends as they are loyal, but a deadly enemy with good tracking skills. Though rubbish teachers. What is you name, fledgling?"
"Ow. Let go of me! Ah?" I kick him as hard as I could.
"Hey" He lifted his leg from the ground slightly "would you reframe from kicking me. Now what's your name?" he lifted me from the ground so I couldn't pull away.
"C-chaos." I stuttered.
"Chaos hmm… a very unusual name and even rarer for a Falcon." He dropped me and with one swift jump he was back on the rocks. "Be careful Chaos, Lions are stalking each other and one has a dark heart, but it is not her own. You must tell your friend that or their will be a lot of trouble and bloodshed."
"What do you mean? And who do you mean? I need to tell Dragon?"
"I mean what I said." He snorted "Now sit here and wait for this Dragon of yours and remember everything I said. I'm sure we shall meet again great Chaos." With that it spread its beautiful wings and with an effortless flap was off the ground. In a few seconds I was left alone in the forest. Yet the wood had seamed to change no longer lifeless and cold it was more friendly. I heard a few birds sing somewhere in the canopy, but I now felt lonelier then ever. Still there was no way I was going to move from these rocks in case the giant winged creature found me and killed me for moving. I shivered slightly I hoped Dragon would come soon as night was approaching and I really didn't want to be alone at night.
