Stage Four

Khyrstan crossed her arms as she waited for the bus to arrive, the mist wafted around the air, sticking to her skin. She had never liked water, even the tiny drops, and this was no difference. She tapped her foot impatiently at the corner, she was only one here at this bus stop, making her endurance for waiting short. She placed her freezing hands into her black hooded jacket, her spiked red bracelet and red and black rubber bands around her right hand jangling. She wore black mascara and blood red lipstick, her dark black hair highlighted with light blond streaks. She was staring at the floor, but looked up just in time to see the young man rush into her.

He toppled on top of her, his dark long black hair to his mid back falling over his face and eyes. For awhile, Khrystan simply watched him collect himself, hardly noticing that he was on top of her, it was almost a mesmerizing moment for her, but she finally came back to her senses. She pushed him off her with a harsh shove, sending him to the falling to the right of her.

"What the fuck is your problem? Can't you see where you're going!?" Khyrstan said, growling as she did so, she shook out her hair and stood up, not offering a hand to the young man sprawled on the floor, who appeared to be at least sixteen, her age as well.

The figure shook his head, getting to his feet, as he watched her, unsure of what he was thinking. His breathing and body was shaky like that of a trapped animal, he slowly stepped back from her without saying a word. Khrystan quickly fixed her clothes, before watching him turn away.

"Bastard." She muttered under her breath, shaking her head as she did so.

The young man turned around to look at her over his shoulder, and in that moment it was as if something had hit both of them, though they both had shrugged it off. The man bit his lip, though he rolled his eyes before placing his hands into his pockets.

As Parvenu walked away, he slowly caught his breath, strolling down the pacific thoroughfare. He couldn't help thinking about that stupid girl, that stupid little girl, Emi. It was her fault he was into all this mess…though it was his too. He shook his head, could it be possible that Emi was a human, after four thousand years, could it be possible that they could find her? He stole a glance at Khrystan one last time before walking away, Emi was a nice girl. An extremely nice girl, it made him wonder for a moment, the girl before him was just a grumpy wench. A dramatic teenager, he had no time for people like her.

It almost appeared as if the pain he had felt for the past minutes was gone, how he hated Brazen most of all. He sneered, thinking about what had happened, he tried not to think of it…but he couldn't help feeling a bit abandoned and left alone by the whole event. Why was the blame always on him? He should've just left Minaret and Charisma on the floor, shouldn't have bothered- but then again, Sanguine was really into finding Emi and getting her blessing. If he found Emi and got her blessing before Sanguine…actually, he hardly knew his motives. If he did get her blessing, he'd have hardly a use for it. He just wanted to find her. Then, he wasn't sure…what he'd do next.

"What do you mean Sovereign's coming over! That little bastard!" Brazen said growling his ears pressing against his head in disgust as Saga stood there simply shrugging his shoulders.

"Do you mean Illusion "the little bastard" or Sovereign "the little bastard"?" Saga asked, sitting down on the floor, his tail swishing back and forth, a grin upon his face, it was unsure if he was finding pleasure in messing with Brazen's mind or if he was simply glad to be home.

Brazen did not respond, roaming upon his four legs, the tiger lifted his paws and dropped them with intense force. Saga seemed not to be afraid from his extreme anger, used to it by many years, it was not a new thing now.

"Why is he calling Sovereign over here? All he does is sit and do nothing until he extremely has to! Sovereign has enough to do without bothering with us, I mean why does Illusion have to bother-"

The tiger shut his mouth nearly instantly, clamping his mouth shut as he stopped pacing and stood still. A figure pulled itself from the mirror inside the living room, hanging almost like an entrance itself on a plain corner of the room. The figure pulled its body all the way out, even though the mirror was too small to allow a body too simply walk through. It held onto the rims of the mirror, pulling out its knees and flipping over to land on two feet.

"Eh, what is this about Sovereign?" Sovereign asked plainly, his silver hair flowed to his hip, his eyes were silver and almost hollow, and gauzy a trait carried through the rest of the family. He wore dark black pants and a white robe that was slightly open to reveal his chest. He watched Brazen emotionlessly as Saga scrambled to his feet, suddenly more enthusiastic than he had been before.

"Hey Pop!" Saga said running up to Sovereign and sitting at his feet to the side.

Brazen seemed glad for the distraction as he allowed his tiger skin to fall so that he was able to rise to his feet as a half being. Sovereign did not press the question, almost as if he had shrugged all that he had said off.

"How are you?" He asked rubbing Saga on the head, making him grin ear to ear. He jumped to his fours as Sovereign began walking away, the sound of his footsteps echoing off. The monkey ran on all fours, his tail twitching behind him as he caught up with the easy strides of the unicorn. He touched his forehead with his index and middle finger, closing his eyes for a moment, glowing silver marks appeared upon his forehead.

"He's in the kitchen." Sovereign whispered to himself, as he began to walk again, Saga trailed after him like a homeless dog. Sovereign glided on shoeless feet, his blowing around him though there was no wind about. He walked into the kitchen; the table centered off to the side was occupied by Illusion, sipping at coffee, his dark black hair falling to his mid back. He looked up the instance Sovereign walked into the kitchen and stood up.

Saga scampered to a high stool by the counter, watching as Illusion and Sovereign talked casually. At least for the moment.

"So, how's work….err, coffee…?" Illusion asked, placing his mug down on the table as he walked to the other side of the room where the kitchen was.

"Work's…fine." Sovereign muttered, his eyes trailing the house, he was marveled a bit by how much he missed this place. "Actually, tea."

Illusion nodded, he flicked his fingers, a packet of tea appearing in between his index and middle finger. "I almost forgot." Illusion said with a smile, as the hot water began to boil with a simple touch of his hands. The tea leaves evaporated with a snap of his fingers, melting itself into the water, forming a greenish color.

"So, you've still haven't eaten anything…alive after all these years?"

Sovereign shook his head, smiling as Illusion tossed the cup to him, he caught it without dropping a single bit of it and placing it onto the top of the table.

"I make things live. And then they die from my touch. I shouldn't kill anything for me to consume, recycling is the best thing to do. I eat all the dead plants- you know that." Sovereign said smiling as he leaned against the table, Saga was eyeing him intently, watching his every movement. "Each plant is my subject, like you, I couldn't reproduce my own form."

Illusion sighed, walking over to him as he took a chair as well as Sovereign.

"Yeah. Wonder what it'd be like to have dragons roaming around the world- nevertheless, we have enough to worry about than to wonder what it is like to have some subjects of our own- unless you count the clouds and maybe a few birds upon my behalf." Illusion said taking a sip of his coffee, the hot liquid brushing his lips.

Sovereign turned his eyes to Saga, the monkey nearly instantly jumping out of his seat for a command. He was leaning forward, ready to jump, when his words came clear, "Leave us alone for a moment, okay?" He asked, trying to sound compassionate for the time being. He was hardly used to talking when it wasn't necessary, but he hadn't talked to someone for so long, it appeared to have quite its toll upon him.

Saga's ears drooped, though the monkey quickly obliged, walking out of the room on his own two legs, his tail between his legs. Sovereign brushed it off, trying to be smooth about it; his words were slowly coming back to him, he hardly remembered a time when he had talked so much in this short period of time…even though…. he had hardly talked at all.

Sovereign's eyes left its playfulness, his eyes suddenly hardening to a deep shallow color, one that fit his appearance a lot better. "…the leaves are beginning to get harder to control, they want to fall. Fall. Fall. It is hard to make them understand me anymore, though I created them, pulled them from the earth, they no longer want to…"

"I understand, Minaret and Charisma have been injured, that brings the count up to thirteen- or twelve if you count Paradox. Optical has been sicker than ever, we can't find out why but he can no longer eat. Twelve people, that brings five that we must take account for…" A paper and pen appeared in Illusion's hand as he began to scribble down names.

"Charisma…. Minaret… Paradox… Optical… Emi Ame…" Illusion chewed on the top of the pen, closing his eyes gently, "Well, I can take Charisma's job at least until she wakes up. I suppose that we can carry Paradox and Optical's to you, they have the most like yours…and Minaret can go with Hyaline and of course Emi Ame to Soul."

Sovereign nodded, watching him intently, "That's not the reason why you called me here- is it?"

Illusion smiled, "You read my mind too well."

The winds shifted from the window, a four winged bird at the windowsill, its wings tilted forward it landed on Illusion's shoulder. It was an assortment of colors, a bird not of this earth most definitely. The bird nipped at Illusion's ear playfully, making him smile very gently.

"Ah, Fhey, will you tell Hyaline that she has to take over Minaret's job? I'm sure Soul already knows what she has to do by now."

The bird cocked its head to the side, nipping his ear again lovingly. Illusion brushed it off his shoulder, the bird taking wing as it flew outside, gliding on Charisma's wind currents. Illusion turned to Sovereign now, he was waiting intently for an answer- well, a true answer that is.

"I'm pretty sure…that Emi Ame is alive now. Well, you know what I mean by alive. A human, I'm nearly positive. But I need some people to look after her, we're not sure who she is yet, but we know that she is in this area. Strings of Fate tie us to her." He whispered, lifting up his wrist, it almost looked as if blood was flowing from it, though looking close there was definite strings, attaching him to Sovereign and trailing off into the distance.

"My plan is to get some of us to attend a high school, we're probably off by a few years- at the least, so I'm supposing that our little Emi Ame is already grown up now. The only thing we have to do is figure out who she is and then get her back, simple? I'm thinking we get Minaret and Charisma to attend there, and I'll teach." Illusion said grinning.

Sovereign couldn't help but laugh, it was maybe a few centuries awhile since the last time he had laughed like this. His silver hair fell over his eyes, the cool and composed being snickering as he attempted to stop laughing, "You cannot be a teach, Illusion. Your history for your split personality coming out is quite…intriguing. We need to be on a full watch now, can't be having any of our endowments acting up while we are around humans." Sovereign paused for a moment before adding, "Oh, sorry if you're joking. I'm so used to people being literal- especially from what plants tell me."

"I'm serious." Illusion said, obviously annoyed. Sovereign blinked absently, hardly believing for a moment before he stood up.

"Well then… I'd love to see this, I'm not challenging your efforts." Sovereign said, shrugging his left shoulder, he had no intention of pretending to be a human now or never. He had already seen many of the things that they do…why would he pretend to be one of them!?

Illusion sighed, rolling his eyes, he knew it was true- but he could control himself and he'd prove it too. "Well, I'm doing this for Emi. I already sent in the application form for Minaret, Charisma and I. Panacea told me they would recover by then. No biggie." Illusion said smiling and giving Sovereign a peace sign. Sovereign rolled his eyes too and couldn't help but smiling. How he loved being home.

Damn those mother fuckers! Khrystan thought as she kicked the Pepsi can along the way to reduce her stress. They purposely made her miss the bus. She pulled her hood over her hair, trying not to be too obvious, she'd kick their asses soon anyway. She stopped in her tracks, not sure of what to do or to think. A rat stood there, blank eyed and watching her in the middle of the sidewalk.

"Tch." Khrystan grumbled it'd get off some steam anyway. She kicked the rat as hard as she could, allowing the little animal to shriek. She smirked, 10 points, she thought when she saw the rat land in a bush not far away. She held onto her backpack, her black and white Converses where no even scratched a bit from that kick, making it even the more worthwhile. She watched the bush, waiting for any sign of movements, but none came.

Khrystan shrugged her shoulders and began walking down the sidewalk again, trying to at least get a bit closer to her house, it seemed so far away. Those bastards definitely would get what was coming to them tomorrow. She glanced at the bush again, it was twitching now, though she turned her back away from it as she turned the corner.

How she hated rats.
