Tears of Blood

It was raining again, the fifth straight day. It made the streets shine like mirrors reflecting the neon from the old city sector.

"Damn-it Mother! What the hell is this . . .?" the young dark haired man said with exasperation. He looked around at the locals; most of them were either drunk or high on the newest drug. He quickly pulled out his hand held vid-phone dialing a number he knew all too well.

::Beep, beep, beep, ::

"Pick up damn-it" he snapped at the object in his hand. Suddenly the holographic screen opened up and clicked on.

"Moshi, Moshi?" a familiar female voice asked her face too close to the screen to be able to see whom it was.

"What-in-the-hell-kind-of-a-sick-joke-is-this-mother!!!" the dark haired man said with one angry breath. A malicious grin filled the screen of the small hand-held item.

"Oh poor little Nos, having troubles?" she asked with fake innocence. His anger began building.

"No shit, I have no other reason for calling you!" Nos said in angry sarcasm. The woman's smirk turned into a frown as she leaned back her face now covered in shadows.

"You were never any fun," she frowned further. Nos put his free hand up to his forehead in frustration.

"Mother . . . you only took care of me the first three years of my life. Toddlers weren't made to be fun." He said his anger suddenly turning to sadness and regret.

"Well, I didn't want to get too attached . . ." she said half under her breath.

"N-Nani!?" he stuttered undeniably hurt by her words.

"Oh-ho, nothing. I didn't say anything," she said waving it off as if it meant nothing. He stood there silently looking down and away from the screen.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY," she suddenly yelled. Nos practically jumped ten feet.

"What in the hell are you ssspouting about now, my birthday isn't for another month! Or did you forget … YOU SSSADISSSTIC BITCH!" Nos growled; he then lifted his gaze just past the glowing screen. Behind pursed lips one could see his tongue searching into the depths of his own mouth.

Why did I hiss?? He thought to himself, a menacing giggle brought him back to the small flickering image on his phone. He felt his anger growing as his free hand reflectively balled up into a fist. The woman had brought her hand up to her chin her long slender fingers partially covering her widened smile.

"You are becoming an adult next month and it's about time you moved out on your own!!" she exclaimed cheerfully. Nos's head dropped in exasperation.

"I've been on my own all my life," he grumbled under his breath. His mother paused in her rambling for a moment.

"Did you say something? Dear," she said the last word with heavy amounts of malice so much it practically dripped. Nos could feel himself cringe at the sound of his mother uttering that word . . . that affectionate word. Nos could only bring himself to shake his head no. So his mother continued uninterrupted.

"I have arranged an apartment and a start-up budget for you, after three months you will be completely on your own. I shall wash my hands of you completely," she said matter-o-factly. Nos nervously looked around. He then heard that giggle again.

"As amusing as it would be to put you up in the old city sector of Shinjuku, your apartment is actually downtown New Tokyo," she said out and out laughing maliciously. Nos finally snapped.

"Why the fuck did you send me on this god-damned wild fuck'n goose chase! You are such a psycho bitch . . . FUCK YOU AND FUCK MY FUCK'N BIRTHDAY!" Nos yelled furiously. He then clicked off his vid-phone and stood there in the middle of the street out of breath from the release of his pent up anger. None of the people on the street even looked up. Most likely they were on a trip. He looked at the silent phone in his hand then turned his face away silently cursing himself for letting his anger get the best of him. The phone then began ringing.

::Biddy-beep, Biddy-beep, Biddy-beep::

Reluctantly he lifted the phone towards his ashamed face as he clicked it on with a sigh.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly before the person on the other line could answer.

"Like I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted by a potty-mouthed jack-ass, turn so you are facing east." She said mysteriously. Nos did as instructed.

"Do you see that large black building with the breathtaking mirrored glass windows?" she asked.

"Uh . . . yeah, I can see it why," he said suspiciously.

"Your new apartment is on the top floor," she said as if it were no big deal. Nos's jaw dropped to the hard pavement below.

"You're kidding me," he said in disbelief, " those apartments are at least two thousand dollars a month," his mother nodded. Again his jaw dropped to the ground.

"Even if you are paying for the first three months after that no matter what job I possibly get there is no way in hell I could afford that," Nos said with exasperation. He then closed his eyes gently shaking his head.

"You're just building me up for yet another let down," he said quietly to himself. Her mouth turned up into a knowing smile.

"Oh, I'm sure you'll find away," she said as if she were hiding something very important from him.

"That building is called the Black Swan, the doorman will know you and the keys to your birthday present are waiting for you at the front desk . . . oh and Nos . . . Beware of strangers!" she said mysteriously.

"What the fuck is that supposed . . ." His mother hung up before he could finish. Nos definitely didn't like this, when it came to his mother it was always bad news. But it wasn't as if he had anyplace else to stay for his final year of high school. Grudgingly he got back on his black motorcycle pulling the black helmet back over his head. He smiled to himself.

Well at least the building is my favorite color, he thought as he revved his engine and sped off towards downtown New Tokyo.

****************************Meanwhile*****************************

Somewhere in Eastern Europe, in a dark and menacing castle, in the bowel of its underground, something had begun stirring. Deep in the shadows of a tomb, something has been awakened. Easily pushing aside the large stone door this something floated toward the stairs.

"And so the rebirth is at hand . . . this has to end here and now," a mysterious and sinfully sexy voice echoed throughout the underground tomb.

"The descendent must be killed before his eighteenth year awakens the evil blood-line," the voice stated as the mysterious entity flew out of the castle at an alarming speed. Out in the night sky the entity paused.

"I cannot allow myself to stand by and watch the horror again." Then it simply vanished.

To be continued . . . . .
