7: Rebirth
“Well. On Earth there are ‘Terrestrial points.’ These are points where our souls manifest into bodies. Up in the sky there are ‘Celestial points.’ These are the constellations that we derive our names from. In them is a ‘Focal point.’ This point is a star that focus’ the virtues of mankind into power that we gain. Our ‘Zenith’ is when the celestial point and terrestrial points align,” Lupus said, “It’s time.”
Devin’s body began to glow pink. A bright light shot down from the sky and hit Devin’s body. His body slowly lifted into the air and flipped into a standing position.
Devin screamed, “I’m glowing pink damn it!”
“That’s your aura. You’ll have to get over that,” Draco said.
Devin began floating, “Wow! Am I going back?”
“Yeah. Focus on your aura and make it take the shape that you want.”
“Got it. See you on the other side.”
With that Devin disappeared. Draco was left standing in a black void. He knew that he had to be close to where Robin was.
I hope I find him before Hate gets to him, Draco thought disappearing again.
In the empty warehouse Serpentarius sat meditating. Leo and Hydra were off to one side. Hydra leaned against a support beam while Leo sat on a crate.
“So what’s he doing again?” Leo asked.
Hydra growled, “He’s trying to get to Robin’s soul. If he can then he can make him one of us.”
“Oh. Why do we want a Virtue on our side?”
“Because Phoenix was super powerful because anyone can be determined and hateful.”
Robin woke up in a black void. As he looked around a voice came from the darkness. It was Slade’s voice taunting him. A figure appeared before Robin. The figure was hidden by a black aura.
“Who are you?” Robin demanded reaching for his Bo Staff.
“Go ahead. It’s not there,” the figure said.
Robin couldn’t find any of his weapons, “What did you do with them.”
“Weapons are useless when you’re dead.”
“I’m not dead!”
“Denial is to be expected. But if you’re not dead then where are you?”
“I’m in some room that Slade put me in after those three knocked me out.”
The figure laughed, “And the Sins worked for Slade even though they’ve been around since the dawn of time?”
“I, they, uh.”
“Can’t think of a come back can you. How would you like the power the silence the voices around you?”
“If I can beat Slade then give it to me.”
“All right. Focus on Slade and what you feel when you think of him. Soon you’ll feel yourself be lifted and you will begin glowing. You will then find yourself back on Earth. When that happens find Slade.”
“You got it,” Robin said with a sinister smile.
Devin opened his eyes. He slowly floated to the ground. He looked at himself. His clothes were the same as was his hair. His shadow powers were still their. He tried changing into his Shadow form. That was the same. Then he focused on the image of himself that he’d thought of when he was with Draco. He found himself glowing pink. When he held out his hand shadows went to his hand and turned into a black scythe. He spun it around as if he’d been using it his entire life.
He looked at it. The bottom half was thick while the upper half was thin. Behind the blade “wings” came out. They were feathered and black. The blade seemed to glow.
He turned and saw Raven standing there crying, “hello lover.”
Raven threw herself at Devin and began crying, “I thought I’d lost you!”
Devin hugged her and whispered, “You’ll never lose me again.”
Lupus walked up to Devin and smiled, “Welcome back, Corvus.”
“Oh yeah. Guess you guys have to call me that now don’t you,” Devin said.
“Let’s get to Draco’s Terrestrial point before his Zenith passes,” Tigris said.
Everyone climbed into the T-ship and they flew off. When they landed Cyborg carried Draco’s body into the Coliseum. Cyborg laid his body in the middle and everyone stood back. Within minutes Draco’s body began glowing red.
“I don’t see why my aura couldn’t be red,” Corvus grumbled.
A beam of light hit Draco’s body and he started floating. His body was flipped into a standing position. Draco’s eyes snapped open. His head went back and Draco let out a loud roar. The light disappeared and his aura faded. Draco walked toward the T-ship.
All he said was, “let’s get to Egypt.”
Everyone got in and they flew off. When they reached the Pyramid of Giza. They got out and Draco heaved Robin’s body onto his shoulder. Red wings sprouted from Draco’s back and he flew up to the top of the pyramid. There he laid Robin’s body then flew back down.
“Now we wait,” he said, “And pray.”
